just a question for you all. Do you think this game has a Pay to Win model?
Some UV's and/or Bonuses makes PvP unblanced for anybody else, and for this reason I believe its a P2W. a big con in most F2P games ._.
poll: (ill update ever so often)
Pay to Play: 4
Pay to Win: 7
Random Posts: alot
EDIT: much stupid ppl in world brah. when it comes to MONEY, does it follow P2P or P2W? im not dissing the F2P because theres some who kick buckets around town. P.S. best players around. Is the CE that is bought, it is used to Play or Win?

note: lol i see what u did there, Mod

I vote that is has a Pay to

I vote that is has a Pay to Win model and there are surely quite a few of those Pay to Win people in LD.

Pay to play means paying out of your wallet to get something faster, such as economic progress or items/levels.

Pay to win is when something premium directly excludes non-premium players and is vital to progressing; imagine if CE was untradable, 4*+ recipes were only obtainable by premium players, or mist was capped at 50E for non-premium players.

SK isn't just about LD, ya know...

If you're talking about the game as a whole, no. The vast majority of the content is PvE, and if you have serious problems getting through what is currently available, buying up a bunch of 5* stuff from the supply depot isn't going to help. But if you're only going to consider LD, then still, no. I know many players with maxed out loadouts that are regularly and easily torn apart by more experienced players even if they're derping around wearing proto in t3. Also, I would add that many, MANY of the players who sport maxed out gear are totally F2P--just because they have a lot of UVs doesn't mean they've "paid to win."

hear me out...

In all the P2W games ive done, the Honcho makes it hard on the little guys. Thats why its better to buy a game. Everybody is maxed out and only way to win is skillz. For the End gamers who want to have everything! and want, want, want do things (CE price, UV max) that seriously effect the rest of us.
Now i know a few groundbakers who are Supreme Lord of Cradle and F2P. but they mainly never interfere with anybody indirectly.
@Lugy, Pay 2 Win has alot of meaning. A few games, P2W is the only way to advance. Sure, if you exp grind or play a buttload of games to get 1000000 to permantly buy something, you can. But who does that? This already makes it a P2W model becuase its impossible to advance.
Spiral Knights is going that path as its pre succesers. Its going where P2W would be the only option.

I'm F2P

And i'm winning since I used to wear ancient plate mail, FF no UVs and a sweet DA.

This thread is an insult for players like Icegill, Tmdals, Bluberrynoob, and all those others that never pay a cent and can kill P2P easly.

You claim it might be P2W

You claim it might be P2W over UVs?

UVs are obtained through Crown, not energy. Anybody can achieve ''perfect'' UVs by investing enough time into them. Just like in any other game you can't actually be on ''equal footing'' against every other opponent right off the bat. The person who's invested more time is typically the victor.

Clearly defined

Pay to win is already clearly defined, as others have said

there is no stat boosting gear that is available only for playing players.

the only thing that paying players have over non paying players is operation crimson hammer, and the 3 pieces of gear associated with it, so if you want to call that pay to win, there's nothing stopping you. (I know you can steam trade it, but not everyone has access to steam)

but everything else, paying players just have to invest less time than free players, so it's not pay to win.
of course if you designed your game to take 3 years to progress for free players, that still wouldn't be pay to win, it's just bad design.

It's not pay to win with $$$

The game is pay to win, but only in terms of crowns. It is 100% not pay 2 win in relation to money. I made my first 100k ce +1mil crowns before i ever dropped a dime.

Therefore, i say it is understand the in game economy to win.

BTW, why are people so wrapped up in PvP being winning? There are 100's of better PvP games out there that take higher levels of skill to master. (and aren't pay in game currency to gain an advantage). Grab an FPS, or a Fighting game, or a chess board, or a basketball, or an etc.

This game is F2P. There is no

This game is F2P. There is no content aside from one bomb and one sword(hammer) that cannot be accessed without you personally paying money and even then that can be traded for.

Purchased CE is likely used for P2W because the lazy and wealthy can afford to skip the whole game.

Obviously it's Pay to Win. You have to pay to get your computer, your mouse/game controller/etc., and your internet. Why else do you never find poor african kids playing online games?
