(PLEASE READ) im not looking for tips in t1 ld, just interesting ideas

the way i play is as a guardian with 2 health trinkets, a fencing jacket, a frost gun, and seeruses T1 mask and hammer. i would like to believe this works well.

so the question i pose to you is, what are so m other fun/efficient ways to play? i.e. i met a t1 recon today who used a slime slasher to its full extent and we went blow for blow with it, i was wondering if there are any other srategies i could be more aware of.
Thanks for the read!

EDIT: I realized no one has much real t1 LD experience, so go ahead and post any hipster srategy you like

@Nater

Lose the hammer and actually play the game.
Seerusly.

Before the hammer and mask, almost anything could work in t1... ANYTHING. Proto's could even fight if they had trinks.

Anyway, at this point. Stay away from spamming the hammer. Preceding heavy battle let loose a few rounds from the frost gun. A static edge/ (Uv'd reward Heavy Hatchet) typically helps the arsenal.

I play with a hammer or static edge/cold snap or firecracker combo more oft than not. The bomb has enough KB for strikers and makes for decent play.

But yeah, t1's the only place someone can trade blows well in. So enjoy it while it lasts.

(also, make sure you got a few "bored" loadouts for when you're winning too much, keeping people in t1 is as important as winning matches, since so few play in the first place.)

I quit T1 LD for good when

I quit T1 LD for good when they gave out free ASI high Heavy Hatchets, and then introduced the T1 hammer. That is one thing I wont forgive OOO about; T1 used to be so much fun.

Odd.

I don't see that many Hammers. Certainly not in the hands of the people who end up dominating every match.

Don't see the problem with those Heavy Hatchets. They just level the playing field somewhat.

Yeah, that one's a bit

Yeah, that one's a bit personal. Spent 3 weeks ragecrafting heavy hatchets and got ASI med as my highest about a month before the missions update.

Very few people know how to use it properly. If you've seen someone like Ylol use it (with his ASI high) you would understand.

Oh, I understand its power in the hands of the right user.

I just don't mind it. Why shouldn't Ylol or anyone equally skilled clean house with it? Thrill does it with his damn bolted blade.

@Dukeplatypus, ouch. Very ouch.

Because they would clean house against equally or better "skilled" players using other weapons.

Y u no sell me your Cheese!?!?!?!

I'm a Recon myself in T1. I use a Fractured Seerus Mask (Fire low, lucky craft xP) and Circuit Breaker Armour (Ele low I believe). My primary weapon is my Firecracker (CTR VH, not really too useful as a Recon but I do also double as a Guardian sometimes so it helps then) my secondary being either a Static Edge (ASI low) or a Thwack Hammer (ASI H). I love bombing as you can probably tell and love it even more when people start moaning at me saying I 'spam'. Bombs are easy to dodge people. Start looking with your eyes rather than with your weapons.

Hammer's never bothered me because few people can use it effectively, and those that can would kill me twice over with any other weapon. I also appreciate that a raw elemental weapon exists to counter people with max normal armor. The Seerus mask seems overpowered at first glance, but the freeze weakness is crippling, and a recon with Cold Snap can lock you in place.

If you run into a hammer jockey who dashes before thinking, punish 'em with bombs. I swear they're like a magnet.

I'd probably be more effective with a Shock Edge or Bolted Blade, but neither of those are a shovel, so~
(also it doesn't hurt that one of the mission weapons released through featured auctions early on was a ASI Med Slime Slasher)

We play at different times

I'm on when Ylol among many others are/used to be on, Gwalchafed especially.. when he points his hammer at you, that's about game.

Anyway, as far as the weakness to the mask, I'm talking more about how it provides BOTH ctr and asi to anyone with a gun, thereby giving people like... me... a frost gun with max attack speed and most of my CTR without thought. Not to mention the mask is often coupled with a frostbreaker... covering much of the field.

It's that the mask provides too much boost for t1. Cold snap only gets so far when your opponent DOES look. Frost gun the same. When you reach t2, you get a bunch of ways around the issue.

And how often do you actually charge a gun in T1? Because if your answer to that question is more than "never, unless teams are stacked in my favor and I feel like screwing off," then I'm beginning to see the real issue. The stats that DO matter on it, gun ASI Low and a higher than normal shock resistance (and while recons like the fire resist, the effect isn't huge) are a pretty even trade for a very exploitable weakness. Frostbreaker only partially negates that, in exchange for reducing its strengths in equal measure.

You only need a Freeze Medium to cancel it out

@Orbwanter

Recons can charge up a gun rather quickly... and disappear once again.
