Hey, my fellow knights. There is quite a rumor I heard or it was really necessary like that. That a, "Callahan," it the most not-so-good-weapon? Can anyone explain to me why is that?

well

Blitz Needle is its main competitor, and does enormous damage. Callahan is more mobile, but not highly mobile. In fact, while charging, Callahan slows your movement to a crawl. Also, stun is buggy. That said, I like Callahan. It's fun.

That's a good opinion, also.

That's a good opinion, also. Thanks for the answer. By the way, how'd you get your avatar or display picture? (In this Forum.)

CALLAHAN!!i!

Oh it sucks in comparison to some other weapons, but supposedly it is going to be buffed in the future... Meanwhile I will have my fun with my Callahan asi vh ctr med. though stun may be buggy, devilites have never been easier... But they are still difficult.

when i first started playing

when i first started playing in april / may 2011, ppl actually said callahan was a great weapon, and autoguns were crap. somewhere between then and now, blitz became increasingly popular, and suddenly, general comments were that callahan was crap. likewise, when i was with a former guild, ppl actually said RSS (the old one) was crap. i guess for newbies its all quite confusing. so it helps if ppl say why some weapons are crap / good.

i started the game playing with magnus, and i found it incredibly useful for wolves and devilites (probably cos of the knockback and stun) - but since i started using piercing bomb, i havent been using magnus much. hopefully, the damage for the magnus is buffed considerably - given it seems to work like a shotgun - u expect each shot to be worth more damage compared to the other guns.

i think its nice how ppl continue to respond to "which is the best gun / sword / bomb / general loadout " question.
maybe we should have a top 5 questions newbies like to ask ? lol.

The rate of fire for the Callahan can be increased tremendously by using the double switch method. Simply put, you fire once, shield right away, switch to your other weapon, switch back (I find using a different assigned key feels faster), and repeat.

This technique limits your mobility because you are constantly firing but the semi-consistent interruption can help keep monsters off of you.

If you want to check out the play style for the Callahan, I suggest you pick up a punch gun and just mess around in the ATH.

It's more because all the other piercing weapons are epic. The Needle lines are two of the highest damage output weapons in the game, able to OHKO Trojans with a single charge attack. All toothpicks have a great deal of range, fast speed and interrupting power; even though Flamberge and Rigadoon are slightly less desirable due to their reduced damage output and crappy proc rates, they are still decent swords. Then you have the Dark Briar Barrage, which can keep wolvers and gremlins permanently out of the scene due to its knockdown effect. (I am going to ignore DSS and SSS.)

Compared to all of these, the Callahan just seems... lacklustre. It's still a decent gun, admittedly, and has large bullets with lots of interrupting power, but most people would rather drown things in a cton of shrapnel rather than fire one big bullet every few seconds and keep a single target suppressed.

wow

you are right ! i didnt really realize that across the three damage types, the piercing weapons are all pretty awesome. cant wait for them to buff callahan. maybe the buff will allow them to blow off the skeleton's head in a single shot. :)

Callahan used to be preferred because piercing weak monsters tended to dodge a lot more. Then came nerfageddon.

Now that most mob just stand there and take punishment( wolvers are so lame now -____-), blitz can actually hit stuff.

That being said I still like the callahan for utility. Knocking down a wolver to finish with blitz, or a gremlin to make clipping with umbra easier.

Seems like here they were gonna buff only Iron Slug, but I'm hoping for both.

However, keep in mind Nick posted this about 7 months ago, so possible things that could happen are:
1. The gun's mechanics are changing a lot.
2. Small buff with stats, they are just too busy designing new promos and missions.
3. They decided to screw it and nerf bombs instead.

Don't take this as offence OOO, I have hope that you are doing something good with these guns....It will bring back a bit of player support lost from the whole RSS thing.
