A Stranger Among Knights (Ongoing fan-fic)

So as of late I've been reading quite a few fan-fics so being the fan of literature I am, I decided to give it a whirl myself.
I'm not too sure how this is going to work out, and I cannot promise the story to be as great as what a lot of you guys put out but, I'll try anyway. The story will be basically revolved around the central character 'Luigart', you will see everything through his eyes so please do not take offense to his views, he is make believe after all. I will say that he is a character that will also love Cheese though. I think that's one of the only traits he gets from me.
Anyway, he has been sent from some place to watch over the 'Knights' but doesn't seem to see any reason why, in fact it seems like he even resents them. Nonetheless he wants to fulfill his duty. Inklings of a thing called 'The Swarm' crops up and soon enough an adventure will begin. For now, enjoy a little backstory. Just a lil'.
The Chapters will be released in seperate posts.

I jumped up in an instant, grabbing the thing looking over me by the back of its neck then bringing my Fearless Rigadoon up to the front. “Stop!” I heard a voice cry out. Slowly my vision cleared up properly and I saw what it was that had disturbed me, a Knight. “What are you doing here? It shouldn’t be possible for anyone to enter this floor without me sending them an invite” I questioned, not letting go. “I’m sorry! I just joined this floor by accident I didn’t mean to intrude! I just wanted to play with the wolvers!” It began to weep. I slackened my grip a little at this, looking at my helmet’s ‘Party’ interface I saw that I had actually left the party unlocked meaning someone could come in without an invite. Seeing this I let the knight go.
“I apologise for my rash behaviour. I did not mean to frighten or harm you” I stated, giving a little bow. “It’s okay... I shouldn’t have approached you while you were sleeping” the knight conceded its voice becoming more stable. Looking up I saw a ‘young’ knight, at least in maturity. It was male, just a couple of years younger than me I guessed. “May I ask your name?” “Uhm... Nolan, my name is Nolan” He replied. “Alright so, you said you were here to play with the wolvers? Don’t you mean kill them?” I questioned raising an eyebrow, “Oh! Nononononononono! I love playing with the Wolvers; we play together all the time, not fight. Other knights tease me for it but I don’t think I could ever hurt a Wolver. They haven’t done anything to me...” “Interesting... Well, it was nice meeting you but I have to go. I’ll see you around Nolan” I started to pick up my belongings.
After clearing up my equipment I turned around to see Nolan still stood there. “Are you wanting something else Nolan?” I asked. “Uhmm... Well... I don’t want to impose but I don’t know how to get out of here, do you mind showing me the way out?” “I thought you came and played with the wolvers here all the time, surely you know the way out” I stated. “Well I usually don’t come onto this level... There are different versions of all the floors in the Clockworks, each one has a different layout, don’t you know?” Now he questioned me with an eyebrow raised. “I did not... but that is a useful thing to know. I’ve never got any other version of this floor, I always got this one. Anyway, sure I’ll lead you to the exit. Just be warned though, if I am attacked I will not hold back and anything that is in the way will die. Understand?” “O... okay, I understand” He answered eyes drawn to the ground. “Good, cause that means your Wolver friends too” I started to walk towards the way out.
Thankfully I didn’t have to hurt any Wolvers. Thanks to Nolan none of them attacked us; I did have to take on some Lumbers and Chromalisks though, nothing too hard. Surprisingly although Nolan seems to be very timid and weak he is a great support bomber, not once did I see any of the enemies’ not on fire. He also used his Graviton Charge to group a bunch of enemies so I could take them out quickly with my Triglav charge. This shy guy will make one heck of a bomber one day. One heck of a bomber indeed.
When we finally reached the elevator we said our goodbye’s and went our separate ways, I up to Haven and him down, further into the clockworks. “Good luck buddy...” I muttered just before he went down. Thankfully he didn’t hear and just proceeded to wave goodbye. I never told him my name.
Up on Haven it was just an ordinary day. Not much new going on. The sun was shining; the knights were going about their business as usual, just a typical day here on Cradle.
It had been about 4 hours from when me and Nolan parted ways. I then heard something I really didn’t want to hear. “This bomber called ‘Nolan’ had gone to try take on the Snarbolax with just a Fiery Vaporizer MK II and a Graviton Charge. He’s dead meat, no one could ever do that, it’s impossible” “Yeah he’s a goner for sure” “Well he deserves it for being such an idiot, I mean what was he thinking!?” I approached the group of knights saying this, “Where is this Snarbolax you speak of?” They looked at me surprised, “Why? You’re not thinking of going after the guy are you? Just leave the dumb guy to die.” At this I turned to look at the imbecile, drawing my Rigadoon, instantly all attention was on me. Holding it up to the knight I stated, “Say that again and I will make sure that you are the one to die. Now tell me where this Snarbolax is so I can do what anybody with morals would do and save Nolan.” He stared at me for a while until I pressed the point of my sword into his chest. “Okay! The Snarbolax resides in the Gloaming Wildwoods!” I sheathed my Rigadoon and said thanks. After that I walked towards the clockworks, with one goal in mind.
“I need to save Nolan...”
(Damn so many ideas in my head atm)

Watching... Waiting... Watching... Waiting... This has been the case for a while now. All I seem to do is wait. Look. See. See what? Nothing, that’s what.
The name’s Luigart, my father told me I was named after a ‘legendary’ hero named Luigi. How someone with that name can become any sort of hero is beyond me but... nonetheless, it is so. The ‘art’ part of my name is pretty obvious. From a young age I loved art and still do, although times are hard now, there is no time to do art. Unless you refer to the ‘art of swordplay’.... then I guess there is. I was sent to Haven to watch over the ‘Knights’ that have recently arrived, in all honesty I see it as pointless, for one they are not struggling to survive at all, in fact they have more or less taken over. Apparently I’m here to protect them but... I don’t get it. Why? Why should we care about these aliens who crashed here, then started to brutally murder anything that opposed them. I mean sure, I’d understand if they just protected themselves but they actually go out and hunt things down, and not just for food, for ‘fun’! ...Anyway, I have a job so I will fulfil it.
Like I said nothing interesting has happened so far... I have heard a few things from a couple of Knights who have spoken to me but not much. I look a lot like one of the ‘Strangers’ here so most of the Knights don’t pay me no mind and just ignore me. This is not a totally bad thing at all. It’s one thing to look after these guys; it’s another to befriend them. Anyway back to what I was saying, I’ve heard about an uprising within the clockworks... that this thing called ‘The Swarm’ is causing even the most powerful of knights a problem. I don’t know much else about it, just that it’s bad. Whether that be for all of cradle or not I’m unsure. Either way I may have to act soon... I just hope this isn’t something I can’t handle.
Guess it’s time to report back to HQ about today, it is pretty late after all. “Hello, you there Tessa?” I asked holding the communication device I was given up to the side of my head. “Yeah I’m here, anything new?” She replied, “Absolutely nothing. Like always” I sighed. “Oh well, thanks for reporting back to us as always Luigi” “My name is Luigart. Call me that again and I’ll make sure you regret it, Tess” I chuckled. “Likely story, something’s cropped up, I’m going to have to cut this short. I’ll be looking forward to you making me regret it, keep safe Luigi” she ended the call. “Oh I will...” I muttered to myself, smiling.
That was Tessa, or Tessaline as her parents called her... At least I’m not the only one with a weird name heh. Anyway, we met each other at the Academy of Fromage. It’s a training academy for people who wish to protect this place, Cradle that is. A fieldworker and a communications officer are paired together at the start of the 4 year course. I was paired with Tess. It was fun but hard going, I’m not much of a brains kind of guy so... I struggled with the ‘Tactics’ side of things, I swear sometimes they just put you into the most ridiculous situations for nothing. Like, honestly why I would allow myself to be in the middle of a group of Mecha-Knights I will not know, everyone knows to either bomb or heavy sword them, heck you could even gun them if you like. I don’t. Anyway, Tess had to help me out a lot, anything else I could do to a decent degree though, thankfully.
It’s late, so it’s time for me to go withdraw to the Sky-Islands and make up camp. Maybe tomorrow will hold something interesting, who knows though. The others haven’t.
