I think a Duel system should be added to the game.
A duel can be initiated anywhere in Haven.

It's really simple and easy, for example, player one clicks on player two and chooses the duel option
player two accepts/declines the duel request.
If accepted, the duel starts in 5 seconds and a circle that only those two players can see appears - the dueling area.
If you leave the dueling area and don't return to it within 5 seconds you loose the duel.
You also loose if your HP drops to 0.

If player two declines the duel, player one can send one more request.
If player two declines again, player one cannot send any more requests in the next 5-10 minutes.

No other player can intervene in the duel between those two players.

Player two has 10 seconds to accept a duel request, if he doesn't, the duel request window will automatically close.

You mean they fight in the middle of Haven? Too distracting.

And altougth 2 friends can make an arrangement for a fair match, the game is not balanced for 1v1.

Clicking on a player for a duel while he is too busy trying to bid something or trading or whatever he is doing on haven and the notification pops up: NO

your method would be used for annoying anyone and spammed a lot of time like those beggars who always come up with the "trade" windows. what about if you are trying to bid something in very short, you got outbided and then get a Duel notification and lost your bid? yeah that will be pretty awesome.

going to Krogmo with a system to make duels in any of the PvP games where you can start a random duel or invite a friend who have the PVP mode On: OK

because in this way you always will find people who is willing to play PvP, thats why spiral made the PVP in this way, so it cant bother people who already dont want to play PvP. also this was done in other MMO and when people dont accept the duels, the guy who want the duel start bragging and humiliate the other guy who just dont care about that.

so better duels works only if people have PvP activated and add a option to make duels THERE. not with the PvP mode off or clicking on a player who probably dont want to duel while he is busy with something

Actually, this is an

Actually, this is an incredibly common mechanic in MMOs and frankly I'm surprised they've not introduced something akin to this since the inception of PvP, considering how competitive LD is.

And, as OP suggested there only being a two-attempt setup, it wouldn't even be as bad for spam as trade windows are. Honestly "spam" is a horrible reason to oppose this, consideirng you can already just spam people with trade requests if you want; duel requests will change absolutely nothing in that regard.

Too distracting? What exactly will the duels distract you from? Snipe herding? Opening lockboxes? Standing around doing nothing?
Again, it's a common system in MMOs to have people duelling in the middle of the towns and there's generally no problem with it. Hell, it gives onlookers and bystanders something to watch whilst in Haven; it actually adds some entertainment value.

Although I would reckon it wouldn't have the LD classes; as they were designed to be used in conjunction with each other for the sake of a multi-party match. 1v1 with LD classes would just be stupid for duels, so would be better to keep it just normal setups.

And the "ring" thing would be far too restrictive. This isn't like other MMOs where you stand facing each other and click skills; movement is integral to survival in SK, so locking players to one small area would just result in frustration. Instead of a ring, you want a timer to clock down. No one's dead within that timer, it's a draw. It allows people to grief by just running away and clocking out (ofc, leaving the "area" should be a forfeit), but it's not as bad as the grief people would get for, say, spamming GF or polaris and keeping people KBd outside of the ring until they auto-lose.

There could be a designated area where people can send duel requests to each other.

Honk.
