The Accessory system in SK is a bit strange in my opinion, the "forge" being quite useless on it's own.
So what's this about? I've been playing Torchlight some time ago and there was something that sparked my interest. There you can put gems into sockets to enhance bonuses. They're not removable normally, but have to be seperated through two goblins offering to either:
- Destroy the gem and recover the armor with the slot
- Destroy the armor and recover the gem
What I want to see now are two things: Stars for accessorys and the option to destroy the armor and regain the accessorys instead.
The Stars on accessorys are meant to make this worth your crowns. Just destroying an armor is a bit cheap to get your crown off of your skolver hat.
The general idea would be to pay X amount of crowns for every item recovered:
- 100.000 Cr for 5*
- 50.000 Cr for 4*
- 25.000 Cr for 3*
- 10.000 Cr for 2*
- 5.000 Cr for 1*
Example for the star rating: Halos 5*, Scarfs 4*, Glasses 3*, Mecha Wings 2* and Headbands 1*. Needless to say this is not a complete list. This would further be subject to which coler it has, ranking divine and volcanic higher, such stuff.
Problem:
Devaluation of accessorys on the AH - While this is true, it's good thing, as the money would instead be permanently "destroyed" in recovering them.
Proto Gear - Accessorys can't be recovered from it
Encouraging Crafting - CE would be worth more, because more armor has to be restored, true, but this might be neglectable, as people won't go around trashing their Snarbolax Suits. I stress the "might" here, because I don't know.
Summary: You've got a Demo Helm of some kind, with a Halo, a pair of Mech Wings and Glasses - recovering them would destroy the helm and cost 135.000 Crowns. Prices are not set, of course.
Feedback is of course welcome, except for people whose arguments consist of "Because I say so".
Hmm..interesting idea but not sure about the static prices of specific accessories.
Guess it would work out, but I'm curious as to why Proto Gear cannot have accessories recovered from it?
As for your devaluation of accessories theory, I don't think this will change it much. It'll be like the unbinding armor patch. High tier armor is still very expensive.
Only difference is that sellers that have recovered accessories would have a harder time selling them, as they'd have a sale floor after which point they'd be losing money - which is okay in my book.
Personally I've always suggested being bound upon recovery, but that's just me.
