i though that all guns are are divided into 3 categorys (energy ,elemental and ballistic) so why isn't there a new category that is constant beamed weapons . that's is guns that shot a constant energy beam . with each star level up the beam is brighter , more solid , longer lasting , thicker and more damageing . the charge attack is large beam that can give a 10 second debuff to enemys . when firing the player can turn slowly but not move.

I spent half an hour typing up stuff for this forum, and then accidentally hit refresh... Too lazy to retype, ill just say basics
Laser gun, beam goes about 6 boxes, constant for 10 seconds, then reload takes 2 seconds. Can not move while reloading, can only turn when shooting, no movement. Beam goes through monsters, does damage every second. 4 lines, one of every damage type. From 4 star version on, weapons develop status, such as stun for piercing, poison for shadow, and fire for elemental. Status gets more powerful in 5star version, all with good chance, 4star version does moderate status, 5star does strong status. Normal line for laser gun similar damage to blaster line, the other 3 damage types have slightly less damage, much like 5star poison blitz and normal blitz.
And what do you mean by the three types of guns?
three types of guns as in
ballistic : punch gun series , magnus series , antigua series (guns that use normal bullets like those in real life)
energy: blaster series (guns that use bullets of pure energy like laser guns , railguns or tazers)
elemental: alchemer series (anything gun that gives a debuff or some kind)
so this thread is suggesting a beam weapon which can a seperate group or a sub-group of energy guns

Not with your times, anyway. A shoot duration of 30 seconds, with 15 hits? Either it's OP due to high damage, ridiculous duration and epic reload cancelling action, or it's terribly stupid and impractical due to the fact that 30 seconds take FOREVER in the clockworks and the hit for every 2 seconds being ridiculousy weak in comparison to other guns' DPS(and, of course, if these 30 seconds are treated as one shot and can't be cancelled, you are forced to stick with the same weapon constnatly firing without ability to shield or switch weapons).
In other words: No, do not want. Not even with other durations, because i can't think of any way to give it reasonable mobility, flexibility and damage.

I can't think of a rational way to balance this while keeping the defining mechanics intact.

15 hits is the same number as a fiery pepperbox's charge attack and it's not OP , cause it's only 85 damage per hit unlike the blitz which is 135 per hit
yes like that turrents , expect with only second reload and status effects
10 second defuff is very short seeing as gran faust gives a curse of 60 seconds and shivermist freezes for 16 seconds
What if it has no charge attack, but you can cut the beam off at any time and it "overheats" or something after too long? (Kind of like this) You also would be able to change the beam's direction as you shoot, and it would go through enemies. However, you couldn't move while firing. Could lend itself to interesting intermittent-firing and shield-cancelling techniques....
