Hello there everyone, I would like to pitch an idea I recently had. Basically, my idea would be to create another instance, like the advanced training hall, but it would be like an obstacle course. The player is allowed to bring 2 weapons of their choice, and they would move through the obstacle course, shooting down signs or something while dodging bullets, and such. The players would be required to wear proto armor without trinkets, so the damage taken from each damage-causing item would be equal for everyone. There would be a time limit of 5 minutes, and this could be a minigame where there could be PvP, where two people would race to finish the obstacle course. To tally up the final score, a possible formula would be (Time Remaining + (# of signs hit) / (damage taken in bars)). Then there could be a leaderboard of the people with the top 10 players' videos, where people can watch what they did. The obstacle course instance could have lots of elevators, such as the arcade, but the elevators lead to obstacle courses. Each obstacle course could cost 200cr to go through, and there could be prize boxes where you can just break them and move on. This shouldn't be a feature in the coliseum though, as that will make the new instance useless. When you go to the elevator leading down into the obstacle course, there should be a choice between singleplayer and multiplayer. If the player chooses multiplayer, they will need to wait, just like lockdown. There could be separate leaderboards for singleplayer and multiplayer.

Basically, there would be another fun part of spiral knights akin to obstacle courses, where you could earn crowns as well as make a name for yourself.

I am not exactly adept at suggesting ideas on forums, but please tell me what you think!

Don't bump spam

People WILL go to your idea.

Anyways, I like the idea of having a obstacle course. It could help players go through the clockworks, but with moving signs, I'm not sure if enemies in the clockworks move from left to right constantly. But it could help players have a better aim and better accuracy.

Rather than a simple global time limit, I'd implement checkpoints wich give you more time.

Ideally this should be purely for recreational and educational enjoyment, not a minigame people have to pay for and get rewards out of. Maybe there could be achievements for going through X amount of puzzles or something that anyone regardless of skill or speed could get eventually, but no rewards or penalties. If you die, you can get up, but lose out on an achievement where you are not allowed to die in a practice run.

Parties may vary in size from solo to a four knight party, but everyone is given stock equipment (same stats, no weapons) and must use objects in the area to navigate through puzzles. That means hitting switches requires respawning pots. No weapons does not necessarily mean no enemies to teach how to shield bump; areas with enemies would have no pots, but may involve traps such as the lasers courtesy of the gremlins or adhesive surfaces which slow movement if you happen to walk into it from our jiggly friends.

There is no excuse for bumping unless you are adding content to the thread. Be glad you are not being suspended for doing so twice in less than an hour following creation of the thread.

The way you describe it, it seems to almost require you to use a gun, with bombs being completely out of the question. If there are prize boxes inside the course, they would essentially become sources for free infinite money.

You bumped your thread seven minutes after your original post? Why wasn't this thread locked?

There could be different obstacle courses for the three different kinds of weapons... Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't catch that. Prize boxes seem out of the question, now that you point that out. Maybe you could earn prestige, but only a little bit, such as 15 or 20 for a run, and the obstacle course could be something to just help practice aiming... There could be checkpoints, where you can't cross that checkpoint unless you hit a certain percentage of the targets...
About the targets, you could color them different colors, and each kind of color would represent a monster often seen in clockworks, and they would be able to attack as if they were the monsters. Now, this would be rather difficult, and make it seem like a normal floor, except for the fact that you only have to hit each sign once, and the sign would go away... However, there would be MOBS of them, and they could move a lot faster than normal monsters, so it would be difficult to hit them.

what about penalties

what about penalty signs like a knight that is walking buy and u break it which would deduct points from the total amount with other things like a speed boost, or upgrades which would upgrade Ur weapon to the next line for an x amount of time. i think adding these would make it more fun sense there is more variety.

Bumped after 7 mins? No,

Bumped after 7 mins? No, don't bump unless your suggestion is on the 2nd/3rd page; you should never bump a suggestion that's still on the first page, no matter how long it's been.

As for the idea at hand, I quite like. Have pondered the concept myself before and think a wee side-game or more elaborate ATH "run" would be a fun distraction. Neaten up and format your OP away from a single paragraph that's painful on the eyes and polish up your concept a bit and I could really get on board with this. Try and come up with more specific details for your suggestion and I reckon it'll receive more traffic.

coliseum variant

I had the basically the same idea .
My obstacle course is for the coliseum and PVP. Its more an obstacle race between two players.
There is no time time limit, instead the first player who reached who reached the end first wins.
each player has its own lane , but both players have the practically the same course. (one side is just mirrowed.)

the course consists of several sections, which are partly random generated. after each section there is an section with a cromgo coin in the middle. the plaer who reach it first, will get it.()if both are equal a random player will get the coin.)

Instead of a time penalty for traps, simple ice traps are used. (Players which get trapped, simply freeze . )Ice armor is of course not allowed. (this can be done with a class modifyer.) sometimes also ice monsters.

The player who reach the end button first will get the reward. a simple mechanic can provide this.
