Proposed LD Balance- Immobilization

I've seen a lot of threads about the imbalance in Lockdown, mainly about Striker boost/hp vs. other classes' disadvantages in terms of speed. To rectify this, maybe OOO could implement a new kind of defense. Basically my idea is this:

Shieldbreak- Upon the shield of a Guardian or cloak of a Recon being broken, those within a 5-square radius of the recon/guardian will be hit by a wave of Stun. This wave will hit regardless of invincibility frames or armor UVs. The wave will last for 2-3 seconds, allowing the guardian/recon to counterattack or attempt to escape.

Alternate solution: The Shieldbreak of the Guardian/Recon also carries over to the Striker. However, this presents the following problem: Assume Striker A and Striker B are attacking Recon A. Recon A's shield breaks, stunning Striker A. Striker B uses boost to chase down and kill Recon A.

I'd like to hear some feedback if you are willing to take the time. Thanks!

+1

But Strikers will complain and kill everyone in SK community

Also Skolver clones have to be the dominant force

So -5
Sorry

I'd personally rather that

I'd personally rather that recon cloaks just didn't break until they were used up, but this idea works too~

Maybe the wave radius would be dependant of the class. Or make the stun chance-based.

Then you'd give strikers a 2-square radius with 1 in 5 chances to stun, but guardians would have a 5-squares radius and a 1/2 chances of stun or something like that.

^ Better, althuogh I don't

Better, althuogh I don't approve of strikers being able to. Right now their booster can't be broken by other players and it's far too easy for them to just boost circles around you and cause the stun, then murder your face.

In my eyes, breaking your shield is your own fault and you shouldn't get any get-out-of-jail-free cards for it. However, recons really need to be given something to make it easier to get back on their feet (since they're so easily exposed), so idk.

With a guard, you can argue

With a guard, you can argue that, since their power is based entirely on being hit. With recons, however, you're given disabilities to deal with. Cloaked recons move slower than normal, leave footprints for many players to see, and are very vulnerable to wide-swings and guns, especially polaris. If you're in the middle of a fight with a competent striker, you'll find yourself being broken out of cloak fairly easily, especially in the more cramped rooms and corridors. There is a massive penalty against cloaked recons that prevents them from effectively escaping outside the ideal circumstances. I feel that that's not the players fault, when you literally cannot move fast enough to get away from them.

Well, once you're in a fight and you have cloak, you can decloak as you're being hit, or avoid being hit. And if you're hit by a random swing or bullet, it is a combination of luck, poor planning, and lack of skill in dropping your cloak in time. It's easier to break than a guardian, but it's still your fault if you do.

From another game...

How about like the spy in TF2? When hit by something, rather than losing cloak, the player is seen as a team-colored silhouette for a short moment before going back to invisible?

I don't think that's a good idea, because LD doesn't have friendly fire. If you hit a recon and cause damage, the team color is obviously fake.

Now, if you they did add friendly fire in too...

especially in the more cramped rooms and corridors
In cramped rooms and corridors, being a recon makes you good for ambushes; but not fully fledged warfare.
Cloaked recons shouldn't be able to move very fast as you get that all important invisibility. If you get hit while cloaked, it's the attacker's good luck; not the recon class's disadvantage. However, I agree that maybe the cloak shouldn't break upon being hit. Possibly even fuel the cloak to aid the recon in escaping.

As for the OP, it turns guardians into people that individuals don't want to attack. And, as guardians get a health buff and whatnot, that's kind of their current purpose on the field.. to take the damage. I can see the benefits, but I feel it would make people change tactics so that guardians aren't attacked; which is pretty much what you want to happen.

Hey, I don't think they should get any special privileges or anything if they do get hit, I just think that enough odds are stacked against them as it is, and vastly increase the chances of getting hit, just for them to be punished and lose all of their only power. Ever tried to hit a striker that's boosting? Not easy. Nothing happens.
Hit a recon that's supposed to be invisible but is actually visible to half the players, and the other half can run circles around you? They become utterly defenceless and die.

Just seems unfair, player fault or otherwise. I'd blame the player more if they sped up when cloaked, but they're actually slowed down. Seems like a stacked deck to me~
I'd be happy if they got hit, damage numbers appeared and either:
-stayed invisible, nothin' happens but still get hurt
-appear visible briefly and returned to cloak (unless you let go of your shield button)
