We all know of the little pits that inflict certain status effects, We all know how annoying they can be...especially the ice and shock ones. Why? Because there is no possible way to get out of them. When you get frozen on an ice pit you get around a 5 second thaw period. It is not enough considering the next shot of the freeze will come up in less than that making it impossible to get in and a cycle you can't escape. You get frozen on it, it stops, 2 seconds away from being thawed and you are frozen again and stuck in that cycle until death.
Shock is the same way as freeze except that you cannot do anything considering your player keeps on having shock spasms once you step on a shock trap. You step on it, you stay shocked until it turns off, which most of you will be dead by then. These traps make it impossible (or very hard in the shock case) to get out and escape alive. It is an insta-death. Now what can we do to stop this? We can make the freeze time from traps shorter. We can temporarily disable traps for around 8 seconds after it strikes somebody. Or we can make it where these affects int he clockworks don't stack. Meaning when you get frozen for 6 seconds and the next part of the freeze comes the timer does not reset giving you a chance to escape.

Both problems would be fixed with appropiate armor. Of course it should be hard if you do it wrong.
My freezing only lasts 2 seconds.

If you have teammates that aren't retarted, they'll help you out of freeze traps. Shock traps usually nearly kill you as you step on them, and you have a split second after you finish spasming and before your invunerability wears off to step back off.

all traps fire in a pattern,

all traps fire in a pattern, your plan would offset this confusing other players an probably making a room un-playable, anyway the fact that you noticed a pattern means that it should be even easier for you to avoid. It's harder at first, but it should be otherwise you would be unprepaired for the harder levels to come.

i agree!

i agree on the ice and shock traps, because they afect your mobility which prevets you from escaping the trap once your caught, it should allow players even without the proper armor against those statisus to escape.

sugestion. once a player gets hit by the trap, the player gains a temporary invulnerablity from that specific trap for a certain amount of seconds that is longer then the time its takes for the trap to activate again. it would allow the player to escape from that trap and the trap will no longer be a one hit ko death pit (like in the old time games) to players who do not have the proper armor.

@Blandaxt "even without the proper armor against those statuses to escape" then where is the incentive to get better/more specific armor? your idea is flawed what fun is a game without challenge? how will you learn without failure?
I get a bad rep here for "needlessly bashing" or being "overly harsh" with peoples suggestions but I would rather that than let people think that they have a good idea when they really haven't

oh, also go here http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck/ and check your post through first if you can't spell

I'm not saying you should wea full skolver freeze max UV. Just one piece of any freeze resistant armor.
But still, with a shield you could tank the last seconds of the trap so it doesn't re-freeze you at the end and you thaw before the next cycle.
Monsters also drop remedies for a reason.

You CAN'T get seriously trapped unless you have mad bomber and a proto shield in T3.

People will complain about

People will complain about anything if they have to learn... unfortunately people don't realize they could just not step on traps when they are going. Yeah we make mistakes and step on them on occasion, but you know a level's theme before hand so you can wear appropriate gear for the level and avoid losing half to all your health in a single hit or from a single trap.

Actually, they don't stack

Actually, they don't stack already. If it inflicts 6 sec freeze and you get hit again when you're at 2 sec, it only resets it to 6. Stacking would set it to 8.

Besides, this isn't helpful. In CWs, someone can come and unfreeze you and let you away. Or you can have freeze resistant armour on to reduce the timer. If you play solo, then be more careful.
In Frostbite (LD), those traps are specifically designed to kill you. You're not supposed to be able to escape them, shy of a target running past, breaking you free with minimal damage at the correct time, and kindly leaving you alone afterwards.
