Has anything changed that impacted Lockdown's balance, or will I still find a bunch of woofs errrrvrywhere?

They may be more shiny thanks to some winter accesories. Thats the only change you'll see.

You'll still find 80% of all players to be clone-puppies. However, that's not so much because skolvers + swords is the absolutely best option. It's merely because people have no interest in experimenting. Things that will beat your typical FF+GF+DA+Polaris+Skolver striker:

-Nitronome and Mercurial Demo as a recon. Dance around their feeble attacks and blow them away! Note that this loadout is weak towards guns.

-Venom Veiler and Ironmight Plate Armour as guardian. Tank 7 Gran Faust hits to everyone's astonishment; and I don't even have heart trinkets! Note that this loadout has a weakness against guns.

-Callahan and Stagger Storm as a recon. Stay south of a control point, and when some derp gets on it, charge up Callahan and snipe them. The Swagger is for planting at a CP, giving you time to run away as stunned wolvers are not as good at finding invisible knights as unstunned knights are.

-It feels like some more people have discovered that the actual win-everything loadout in the game is alchemers. Wolvers I can beat left and right, but I can't remember ever beating a gunslinger with alchemers.

-Ice Queen with shock resistance and a slew of haze bombs. Note that this loadout has a weakness to guns.

Yeah, I don't know why we're not talking about "Gunslinger-clones" either.

@Zeddy the reason very few

@Zeddy the reason very few people use Alchemers is that they are HARD to use.

Putting apart my inability to be a striker (even as a gunslinger yeah, I play recon), you need to be able to aim, and auto-target isn't going to help, which means you need to compensate for lag (that alone is very hard. Good gunners can get more than 10K. Just because of that I get about half of that).

You also need to be able to switch. Because if you don't and get caught in a reload, you are as good as dead. More points for shield-cancel (which is hard and I can't do yet either).

Oh, and, just as a bonus, you obviously need to dodge those swordies that can kill you in just a few swings with rockets on their back.

The fact that you think gunslingers are OP is because you don't play striker-swordsman, which is the counter to gunslingers (whether they are striker or recon). Sure, a good gunslinger can almost match a good striker clone. But so can a guardian swordsman, and a few other roles. My point is, it's much harder to be a "good gunslinger".

Clones are still the best.

I play almost exclusively as a gunner, and if I can't dominate a player, they kill me. There's no trading blows for gunners, we do far too little damage for that. So if you get stomped by a gunner as a clone, it's because they were flat out better than you.

Also, now that I think about it, I don't believe alchemers flinch in LD. I know they don't interrupt sword swings( only the animations), and I can't ever remember getting interrupted myself by an alchemer...

Not that that would be surprising. OOO does love to troll the non-swordies.

I clearly remember being interrupted several times by an alchemer in LD. Though there is probably a greater delay than swords, because even if you are close, bullets are not instant (and I believe not shown as the same place as where the server consider they are). When gunning, on the other hand, I never noticed really interrupting someone. It probably happened, but it's just not significant compared to sword, since moving a little will let you dodge at least 50% of the bullets.
