Look, I've made this thread for one reason and one reason only, bad publicity and first opinions are hurting spiral knights.

I started asking people at my school if they knew about SK about a week ago and this is what I found.

The first person I asked said he had played it for a while, it was defiantly after missions and he said he quit when he got to a "room with a button and lotsa monsters everywhere.

That was the training level... in the rescue camp...

The second hadn't heard of it, so I asked him to look at it and 2 weeks later he said he hasn't, to tell you the truth, I think he's looked at it and just didn't like it.

The third and fourth (I asked them at the same time) Both said that they knew about it but said that is was in their opinion a ****y 2 bit version of Skyrim...

Now don't get me wrong, I know what Skyrim is, but...

What's Skyrim again?

Are these two games similar... One's an Awesome dungeon crawler and one's an upscale Role player... Umm...

Wut?

Oh, they also both quit in the rescue camp.

Yeah...

Okay, so that's 4 people... Who DIDN'T like it, What's hurtful about that is they didn't pay attention to the game, they didn't stick with it like I did, or maybe it was the game...

Look, this isn't some rage thread saying this is a really bad game, it's my song of sadness.

I'm not trying to diss spiral knights, that's not it, but this is what I'm thinking...

People are impatient, so maybe the tutorial level to the "ruined" rescue camp could be a continuous level, there could be dialog and shops, (the terminals are technically levels and there are shops there) there would be a monster barrier between the two "levels", but no loading screen, so they're compelled to keep going. The missions would be there but no lobby, people could join as they go. All this makes it more immersive, all of this should be striped down untill the generator is up and running again, compel the knights to get to haven QUICKLY before they lose interest, oh, and make sure one of the npcs tells you to come back after you log off, and that you need to get to haven.

That is all for now.

You do not have to implement any of these changes.

You have been informed about the problem.

Fropps out.

The rescue camp update really

The rescue camp update really made the beginning of the game much more fun and beautiful. I make alts simply to run those missions again on occasion.
My advice is to you is to find friends that are zelda fans and mention SK to them

my 2 cents

Takes wayy to long to get to Haven...

I remember once, I created an alt... Got to rescue camp and went ahead, found Haven in 20 minutes.

Now it takes an hour just to get to Haven and you can't see your mist at all for the first hour so you have no clue what it is then you get to Haven and realize you can only do 1 mission because you have no mist left..

So after a 1-2 hours session you have: Made it to Haven, barely 1* gun and sword. Then you HAVE to craft that *** ***** Hot Edge and Frost Gun (it pains me because when I got back in November I had to craft those 2 useless items in order to advance, took me a week because I had no pass yet and did not wanted to waste mist on that and had 5* gears since 2011. IT WAS FRUSTRATING AS HELL!!!!!!)

Then after crafting those 2 useless items you can now have normal missions that lead you toward Snarbolax. BUT WAIT, you can't do him today, come back tomorrow, not enough mist.

At least back in ye olde days you could do a Snarbolax run after getting to Haven. Now when you get there you can barely do anything because you have to do your missions, which requires you to craft...

Edit: And I don't get the rewards for the missions at all... Considering how many people uses Wolver line, shouldn't that be the armor you give to newcomer instead of cobalt? And maybe a Calibur instead of a hot edge? hmm? just to have a decent 5* sword at the end instead of reselling it to a NPC to get 100-300 cr?

The Rescue Camp missions need

The Rescue Camp missions need to be more explanitory. I hang around in the Rescue Camp and so many people come past and don't know what to do. It's because they skip past the introductary text, and then don't have an "objectives" tab underneath their minimap like you do in Missions.

"Both said that they knew about it but said that is was in their opinion a ****y 2 bit version of Skyrim... "

It is a scientific fact (now backed by evidence) that you need to find more educated friends, considering their first thought was "Hey this is Skyrim" and not "Hey this is a Zelda dungeon-crawler".

I'm trying to get a college

I'm trying to get a college classmate of mine to make a Steam and play Spiral Knights with me. He's a PS3 junkie, and has never heard about Steam or SK (many people i know irl have never heard of steam or sk, but i was like that too). He's only worried about that the only way to purchase stuff in spiral knights is through online purposes; there are no cards or anything like that to get energy (not that i am aware of); can't get energy outside of online purchases. He's obsessed with tomb raider right now, but I'm sure I can convince him to join... maybe...

There needs to be more ads about SK, and ways to get energy and stuff from this game via rl $$ without having to only do it through paying online, since most people can't buy stuff online.

There are Steam cards? But

There are Steam cards? But then he'd HAVE to convert to Steam to play SK; actually that's a good idea, I should tell my friend that. He goes to Gamestop a lot.

Grinding Aspect

Some gamers today don't like the fact that you would have to grind the same runs/missions over and over. They seem to play more of the FPS genre now.

Cover their faces with pudding skins while they sleep. It will make sense never.

But in all seriouseriouseristopthatness, these derps sound like they have very short attention spans. They would probably be too distracted to even sit still for two sec- Look at those shiny door knobs, I should go over and rub my eyeballs on them. This circular door knob here looks very intere- Oh my liquids the floor is made of kittens. What was I talking ab-

And then Luguiru was taken back into a room at the very back of the dimly lit abandoned hospital. The sounds of two pistol shots coincidentally occur in the same general area, but that was nothing. Just move along. Stay away from the back room. Also stay away from the closets no matter how much ketchup you see leaking from them. Run along and play. Yes. But stay away from the unlit rooms with locked doors. Be a good girl. Be in bed by nine, daddy has to work and tomorrow is another day of fun for you, my darling. Rest peacefully in spite of any sounds you may hear, including loud crunching or agonizing screams of pain. Daddy is simply watching television while he works in the locked rooms you are forbidden to enter. Yes. Now off to bed with you, and take your favorite toy bear with you. Captain Homicide is also feeling sleepy.

This is starting to get weird.

Uhh... SK is fine the way it is.

Ah, SK is just fine the way it is.
Every person has their own opinion, likes and dislikes different things.

Some people don't like this kind of games, be it the gameplay or the "cartoon-ish" graphic or whatever. And some other people like it / love it.
That goes for every game :)

Luguiru, you are right, for

Luguiru, you are right, for the first time ever I agree with you.
Koffin-kat, you're right...
Rove... Well... there might be more. But I get what you're trying to say.
Yukariyakumo, if that is your real name. NO. You do NOT have to grind, some people say that, but I just play for FUN, not even to advance, games are for FUN.
Kitty-softpaws, thanks for getting people involved, wait... Kitty softpaws.... That seems familiar... :}
Retequizzle, I live in AUSTRALIA, I don't know about you, but I actually asked about 23 people in my research... the other 19 hadn't even heard of it.
Hex, I've been there, no, I mean just then, yep, you're right.
Shamanala, thanks for the info... it's very... true.
Little-Juances, that's also true... Look at the game's market these days, not being biased, but when I go to a friends house, (they just about all have an Xbox 360,) they mainly have shooters (CODfish and HALOgen) and fifa, that's it. I have a wii U and 3DS myself and don't own many... nup, no Fps's, unless you count Monster hunter Tri as a shooter...
Thegamerguy, What's SK again? (problem? ;} )
MoonSoon, yep, you're right, beautiful, just as Shamanala says, really long.
Spicegirls, Good! First one to notice, gold star...
