Okay so yea your all here because i talked about the Trollaris. Yes im nerfing it, yes you lockdown maniacs that complain about it im nerfing it! but im doing something else! Im buffing something.

So here's the deal after reading this : http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/75728 , i got to thinking about poison how to implement it more how to make it more fun how to make it critical!

My idea?

SWITCH POLARIS AND BIOHAZARD!?!?!

What does this mean? What is he babbling? how does this help me not fear Trollaris in lockdown!?!?! >.< (not everybody fears it).

Well basically i want to make this simple, give Biohazard the area affect of the Polaris and give Polaris the tiny slow bullets of the Biohazard. What would this do? It would give another shadow/poison weapon that can actually be feared and most usefull, and make everyone stop complaining about the Polaris. Now your probably saying that its to much of a nerf to the Polaris and to GOOD for the Biohazard. Well yea! duh. We can mess around with it, when your to charge the "new" Polaris and shoot it sticking it to something (and in this case we'll throw in the neutralizer) it will explode on two circumstances, 1 hit it with another shot from the gun, 2 getting hit by anything else disrupting your gun and causing that ball to explode. Now i probably have your attention again (or so i hope) because to me this seems well enough fare, the gun is slow enough as it is easy to dodge and then strike so why not give a side affect for that slow bullet charged actually hitting a player? Well there it is! Seems rather fare to me really.

Now moving onto the Biohazard which now in terms is "new", it will have the attack of the "old" Polaris and be able to do wide area damage and poison! (In the affect of shadow damage). now this might have to be tweaked some or maby not at all but i think this is better not just for lockdown but for PvE because of its new ease of use, think about it, those dodgy gremlins now getting hit by your attacks thanks to the not so slow bullets and small area of affect! Spreading the disease of the poisonous Biohazard would make the gun affectingly more wanted and used. Not to mention I also in my mind "fixed the Trollaris making it less powerful but at the same time a game changer!

Now its up to you guys tell me what you think about it, please try to be constructive but critical, if you think its bad say its bad but give me reasons facts or clues to what might help so that i might help this thread. Maby even in enough time make this thread better with your help.

Thank you for enduring this read, i know it wasn't that much but it is allot to take in.

Yours Truly,

Vanillateddy

Not a bad start on the polaris...

...but I feel like a polaris-styled Biohazard would just become an overused gran-faust-poison-explosion gun. True, poison doesn't have the interrupting effect like shock, but the mid-game defense nerf would make it just as spammable. A wee bit of poison and a heavy-hitter with an asi uv and you could knock out an entire team with a few swipes. A good start, but replacing shock with poison probably wouldn't change much (especially wouldn't stop all the damn complainers from annoying the crap out of everyone else...)

So basically....

U just want to switch the attacks of the 2 guns. How can I put it briefly?

No, it is just like giving the Polaris and biohazard the opposite of wat they are supposed to be used for.

Just leave them be, if u don't like how one functions you can A:) use the original weapon and craft the other line. Or B:) just craft a different weapon all together.

To me the answer is no. Think it out a little more. Convince me of why you want it like this.

First:

Yes i am replying really fast.

Second:

Main topic, The fact of having a shadow gun along with its poison affect is a pretty big thing especially with defense lowered when poisoned, but it does give the chance of fighting back unlike when shocked when you have limited chance of fighting back, (usually none). But the damage can also be tinkered on the gun so its not hey your poisoned only takes one more clip to kill, i don't want it to be overpowered i want it to be switched then nerfed so its simple and usable without much complaint.

I'm basically trying to better these to guns while nerfing them, if that means lowering the rate or percentage at which you get poisoned and or lowering the damage im pretty cool with that.

@Hyiaku

First: I feel that you seemed to have not given it much though before responding, this actualy does change the way the weapons work, there wont be a spasm of electricity surging through your power body that keeps you from doing anything thanks to a spam shower you cant avoid. (Well you can but its difficult against veterans.

Second: I have both weapons and use them equally i actually just can see there roles being switched and being played much better.

Third: I introduced some new "strategies" in my explanation for both weapons, did you read about the new charge attack for the "new" Polaris?

Fourth: Where is your construction or reasoning for why you cant see this working you want me to explain my side but do not explain your own.

Fin:

@ (to lazy to type ur name)

I read the whole thing and I just find it kinda pointless. Ur switching the damage type it deals and nerfing it. All it's going to do is make people hate the weapons and not want them. If ur caught by shock in LD and spammed to death, it's ur fault cause its not that hard to dodge. If ur fighting monsters and u have slower speeds for attack u are sure to miss.

Clearly ur not thinking it through to much. Read over what u posted and maybe edit it. All I'm getting out of it is its going to be pretty crappy. Just because u think its going to work, u still have to look at it from all teir players and how it will effect them.

Yes, I kno Polaris is teir 3 but let the players experience what happens with the original. They can actually learn something

P.S, I never asked if u had both or one of the guns.

First: Yes im switching the damage types, yes it might be nerfed, but your telling me it wont be used? To me your saying that the weapons right now are basically useless and hated. Yeah they may be hated a bit for spam and also for impractical use but there both great weapons now and would both be great weapons playing as each other.

You cant tell me that shadow/poison is crappy, most people in lockdown wear a mix of skolver/ volcanic, mostly because of the pierce normal elemental defense you get with an easy shot of rolling for a shock UV. Which keeps the gear on top and most used, changing the Polaris would bring in shadow damage and make the armor a bit harder to use unless you have money to blow on UV's for shadow defense. This also can promote more then just wolvers if you look at it now.

Second: Also about dodging Polaris shots, you say this because most people use striker and can easily maneuver out of the way, what about guardians and support invisibly guys? Doesn't seem as easy to dodge when your trying to protect yourself from a Stiker, because the second your shield or invisibility goes down your going to be spammed and spazing.

"Yes, I know Polaris is teir 3 but let the players experience what happens with the original. They can actually learn something"

This has to be my favorite right here, simply because it made me laugh instantly because i thought of the old shard bomb.
So here's this, what happened to letting players experience what happened with the original? Well that's easy LD complained that it gave bombers an unfair advantage. And now look at it, it doesn't even work remotely close.

But get this, People still use it. Its not a bad weapon and really my case isnt the same as it because im not shoving something unfamiliar down your throat, i merely changed the damage type and effects. For better or for worse i dont think there is that much of a difference other then giving more reason to use shadow armor, have less Wolvers/ Strikers, make guardians able to still put up a fight instead of being stuck because they can move after their shield is down same via invisibly guy.

Lastly: And the reason for stating that i had used the gun came from you suggesting to get the lines also for me to paint a picture in my head that i can see the weapons roles reversed and working just as well. What does it matter if i didn't have either gun and still said that i could see them being switched? Not much other then i am familiar with the weapons. Also i didn't make this thread because i don't like how they function, i like how they are now realistically, i just am trying to put out another alternative if there was to be a Nerf to ensue.

P.S Can we not act childish?
One its disrespectful, two its rude.
Especially when you address someone "Lazily" (On Purpose).
Also your still not being constructive or even suggesting anything.

@vanillateddy (i believe thats spelled right)

1st: i never said they were useless and hated. i said they were fine the way they were and people like them this way.

2nd: i get ur trying to make a shadow weapon for lockdown, but the way u described it to me in the original post u pretty much made it an impossible hit for the user and opponent. i already said this but u can always craft the other recipe line for that weapon if u dont like the shock effect. also you can dodge the shots no matter wat class you are. all you have to do is move backwards or if u cant move along the spam path. not into but outside it and with it so your ahead of the shot. wen ur guardian u can take 3-5 hits from a polaris anyway (depending on how many there are being used agains you). ive said it before too but ill say it again, if u get shocked and spammed to death thats your problem.

3rd: yes people have shard bombs but it is mostly for kicks now. u see them mostly in the training halls, not often in missions or the clockworks. its because they are not that helpful. they explode and leave a ring that explodes 5 seconds later. kinda useless.

4th: if u want to see wat they look like in your head use spiral spy. you can make the gun the way u want and look at it the way you wish too. but that doesnt mean they should change the whole gun because you want to see what it looks like.

5th:where did childish come from? i simply posted my thoughts of your idea and gave it a rate. if its the to lazy to type your name thing its because i post on these with my iPad and wen i type i cant see your name cause it keeps scrolling down. so no it wasnt on purpose, it was because i have bad memory sometimes.

6th: im not being constructive because its fine the way it is as stated above. it doesnt need any suggestions because the guns are already fine the way they are. and what u just posted above sounded to me like all you want to do is look at it and see what it would be like and not actually want to fight with it. just see how it would work. if you want this to be a nerf just take away the damage it gives and lessen the spam distance instead of completely changing the guns.

notice: posts 4 and 6 are similar but they tell you good ideas to try and see it before you suggest it.

So... You think the problem here is the shock status, not the flying-bomb-gun-explosion bullets that blind teammates and scatter all enemies to the far corners of the map? No. Supernova is almost as bad as Polaris.

While there have been many suggestions to change polaris to balance it, this is the most pointless I've seen. Poison gives you less of a chance to fight back because of your damage and defence being halved. With shock you are stuck in place for 1 second every 3-5 seconds. All the other time you can go around dropping the other knights with your pro skillz
