Seriously? Guild upkeep? As if expansions, room upgrades and furniture weren't already expensive enough, now we quite literally have to pay as if we deleted and reinstalled them.
Every. Single. Week.

So, that would force me and all of my guildies to make a couple ten Vanaduke runs a week. Just because it all gets blocked and you have to pay double when you run out of crowns. Seriously, Three Rings?

discussed to death

This change was thoroughly discussed, at the time of the guild hall update. You're a few months late. Here are some other things that you could be outraged at, but which have also been discussed to death:
* Crafting 5-star items costs 800 energy, instead of 500 energy? Robbery!
* Chaos armor offensively obsoletes just about every other armor? Imbalance!
* The Auction House charges a 10% fee? Extortion!
* All non-boss recipes are now available to anyone in the Hall of Heroes? My business is ruined!
* You can't get better Honour items after ranking up? This free gift is a sham!

Here is an unofficial official and full fledged reason towards this discussion.

The guild upkeep is meant to be directed as a crown sink, a way for crowns to be lost into the game forever. You get free crowns from the clockworks, so the game has to take it back, but at the same time provide for some form of incentive. As a result the Guild Expansion was published. Without crown sinks like these, the amount of crowns players have will increase over time, causing inflation to occur.

Guilds are still nonetheless unnecessary for gameplay, but fully recommended. If you are irritated by the guild upkeep, it is recommended that the guild in question do not fully purchase expansions until they are able to meet the requirements for it. There is no force in requiring a guild to have expansions, but there is a deterrence to smaller, incapable guilds for buying of such incentives.

Do a GH publish and your upkeep may lower. (Three Rings did lower the upkeep cost at some point, you have to publish to make the new rates effective.)

A modest 1.5 floors GH only cost 25k per week. That's roughly 3 FSC runs per week. One dedicated member is all you need.
