So I love my slime medium salt bomb and I have been looking for a fiend medium splinter bomb, but then i thought "slimes run at you in hordes and are easy to hit with shards but fiends..." Would a spine cone be better then sun shards?

Spine Cone is way easier to use but that doesn't make shards completely bad.

Shards do require some thinking, you can plant a couple bombs then push or lure devilites there.

Zeddy knows this kind of stuff. If you're lucky, he will reply. Chances are he's playing Warframe all day errday though è_é

I prefer shards vs devilites.

However, it's by far easier to hit greavers with DBB's large radius. Then again, you get more explosions over time with shard bombs and as such with clever kiting you should in theory be able to deal with greavers better. Note that I am not this skilled yet.

For Trojan's it's a bit situational. It's by far easier to take out a Trojan quickly with DBB, but if you're very, very skilled with them, you can consistently double-shard Trojans and as such kill them faster with shards.

Gorgons are a complete joke with shards. Have not tried vs DBB yet.

Realistically, DBB is better.

Hmm..

Wouldn't the shard bomb allow use from a longer range due to the timers? You definitely don't want to run next to the fatties to place anything. Make them run after you.
