I can't believe it's taken me this long to realise

Shard bombs are quite waffley... You need one of each type and to use the correct Shard bomb for the correct level, else they do waffle damage. I was doing a danger room for far too long trying to kill Gremlins with an SSS (then I had to kill the jellies with my Winmillion, but that's besides the point).
My SSS shard explosions did 43 damage to Gremlins. I was flabbergasted. I kept running in circles in the danger room with the 4 sections split by spikes. You know how long I was running in circles? I had the 3rd wave's Jellies down to 3/4 hp with just using a regular SSS with no damage bonuses. I died and revived once, then rq.
Then I thought about why there would be so many different types of shard bombs, and I finally realised that it was just a way to make us make more weapons by making these weapons do really waffle damage in non-optimal conditions. I thought the shard bombs were fine... they were okay... but I had never used them against neutral/strong resistance enemies before. I never really saw how bad they really were.

I'm sorry for disagreeing that they weren't waffle before. I think I need a break from SK.

It took you that long? Using a pure damage weapon against things that aren't weak to it won't get you very far. Also, a Winmillion? In a danger room? That, my friend, is insanity. While it is true that shard bombs pale in comparison to what they once were, they are still decent weapons in the right hands. Are your hands right, are they?! D:<

Do you know how long I was running around?

How long I was trying to kill the gremlins and jellies? The waffle healer never died and kept healing itself. Insanity? I like Albert Einstein's definition of insanity more: "Repeating an action trying to get a different result". What, you go into Danger Rooms with your OP equipment every time looking for a different result? How is it going to be different if you're going to use the same tactics every time. I was looking for some challenge, and I knew that it was possible for me to complete whatever the game threw at me, but my SSS was a waffle. What I don't understand is that you think that what I did was insanity. Is looking for a challenge with subpar equipment, insanity? Is restricting yourself in weapon usage to teach yourself how to become better, insanity? Am I insane for trying to play the game with some challenge? I could've waltzed in there with any regular waffle weapon in my Arsenal and it would've been a cinch to deal with spike cubes and gremlins.
The problem is, is that shard bombs are waffles.

"Using a pure damage weapon against things that aren't weak to it won't get you very far."
Let's see what pure damage weapons people use against neutral conditions? Shall we?
Voltedge and company, WRH, DR, Alchemers, Sentenza/AP, Blitz/Plague Needle, aka. every. other. pure weapon. in the game.

the shard bombs just pale in overall usability compared to all other weapons in the game. Heck, my Winmillion is more useful overall.

Did you think I was trying to use the SSS to kill Jellies? Otherwise I don't understand your argument.

First off, the Voltedge is a split-damage weapon with both normal and elemental, it can and is used against slimes and fiends if in a pinch. Second, all those weapons you listed are used almost entirely in places that have enemies vulnerable to their damage types. At least, they're used there by sane people. And third, is it insanity to use underpowered weapons while looking for a challenge, then making a thread about how they're underpowered? I'd think so. As for my own sanity, I go in with the weapons I like to use, with armor I like to use, and a shield that I like to use. If knowing what I like and using what I like is insanity, then I guess I'm insane. Heck, almost everybody in the game would be insane at that rate. When looking for a challenge, don't bite off more than you can chew, that's the moral of this story. Then again, more can be learned in a single loss than a thousand victories. Use what you've learn today to be better prepared to face them in the future.

Neutral damage shard bombing is pretty bad, but you might be surprised how quickly Deadly Shard Bomb can get the job done with good spot of damage bonus and a Venom Veiler.
