I am a gunner who grinds FSC and when I go solo (aka get kicked) I always have trouble dealing with the trojans. When I try to kill one the other charges me and so on. I usually have only two weapon slots and I need one for my Silversix/prisma, I also wear full Shadowsun. I do have a blitz however it usually gets me killed. Do I just need to get better at using it or is there some other safer alterntive? I don't do the boss.

If you can get the Trojans to attack at roughly the same time, try using regular Blitz shots. They don't take that long but will inflict moderate damage.

In a case of multiple trojans, you really can't do better than Dark Briar Barrage. I know it's a bomb, and thus not what you asked for, but it's so fantastic at it you really should use it anyway.

An alternative is hail driver. Freeze one trojan, blitz the other.

Tips on needling two trojans at once

Use your blitz. Press and hold shield, then hold attack. A few moments later release shield, and you will be charging your blitz without having to stop moving. This assures that you won't get smashed by a trojan when you start charging.

Stand a small distance away from both trojans, not touching them, and also making sure that you are about the same distance from both of them. Both should make an action, either dashing or striking. If both dash, do it again. If one dashes and one strikes, shoot the striking one. If both strike, then shoot either. One charge=One trojan down. After that it should be much easier.

TL:DR Basically the key is to get both of them to do something at the same time, and shooting one if one tries to smash you. Don't if neither smashes. Use charge attacks, with your Blitz.

If it doesn't seem to work for you, substitute charge attacks with normal attacks. At least then you'll still be alive, and you'll still be dealing damage.

This is only for when everything else is dead, except for these two trojans.

If all else fails, pretty much any gun or sword works fine for killing them. Just remember not to use the entire combo, and to shield cancel so you can get out of the way for the 2nd trojan that is likely dashing towards you.

(Why do I have the feeling that all this text is incomprehensible...)

1v2? more like 2v1

I'll repeat important things and add my own input.

- Use a shot-less charge (while shielding, hold attack, then release shield)
- While charging, if the trojans are near each other, walk so you stand between the trojans (they face each other - it's ok if they're not directly facing each other, but enough for the next part's hitbox to land).
- One or both of the trojans may start a melee attack. If this happens, dodge it by continuing to step across them. One of them will get knocked away and the other one will stay in the same position.
- Step around the one that didn't move and unleash charge on that one.

You can do variants of this, like walking circles around one of the trojans so it does its area attack, but while it's charging, stand still for a second so the other one knocks it away.

If both of them use the dash/tackle attack, then release your charge (you can either aim it towards to try to hit or away to get rid of it) and try again.

If there's more than one trojan, they can kill themselves. All you have to do is position yourself properly so they form a line behind each other. The one in the back will hit the one in the front.

swords

Since you mentioned swords in your subject line, I'll explain how I handle multiple trojans, for example in Firestorm Citadel: Final Flourish/Barbarous Thorn Blade. I find them easier than Blitz Needle, for the reasons you mention. Just wait for a trojan to charge, and unload a FF/BTB charge attack in its back. You might take some damage from the other trojan, but the first one will be dead. If you'd rather not take the damage, then play more patiently. Wait for a trojan to charge, and then perform just the first stroke or two of the combo into its back. Actually, this works with any sword. Piercing swords just require fewer repetitions to finish the job.

With a flourish line/ Barb line sword:

you can even chip away at trojan's health without charging (Although, as stated above, this is also effective) by waiting for one to go by, smacking its back once or twice with shield cancelled attacks, then moving out of the way of the second. Trojans are far more likely to rush or attack when you are standing still or using a sword attack, but have enough time to turn around and punish heavy recoil guns like a non-asi blitz/plague.

Personally I dance around between them with barb until they die. Might consider rigadoon soon since I want to be a bastardrecon in LD anyway.

@Validious
Why is your TLDR longer than the main body?

@OP
If you can dodge well and get both trojans in the same corner it should work with a blitz. Practice dodging and baiting.

Blitz

If you can get the Trojans to attack at roughly the same time, try using regular Blitz shots. They don't take that long but will inflict moderate damage.

This^^ Using the charge or not, its all about baiting them to commit to a swing or a dash/charge at the same time, or using line of sight to know when one is not a threat due to not being able to get to you.

The second you stop moving in FSC without a clear and thought out plan on what you're going to do with that time is when you take a Brojan to the face.

They call this game Spiral Knights for a reason because as long as you keep running in circles, nothing can kill you. (with the exception of maybe greavers, but they are their own kettle of fish entirely) Time IS on your side.

You don't need a specific weapon to kill a trojan.

But if you're having trouble, kill everything else first. You might also want to try playing with them for awhile. Once you learn their patterns, the only time trojans are ever a threat is when they come from below your screen. Otherwise they be easy.

Just don't be one of those guys shuffling about the map with a blitz charge held for like two minutes, dead set on one-shotting the trojan, no matter how long it takes. lol

You can use

Freeze weapons. Preferably Hail Driver, so I assume that you can take on a single trojan, so freeze one, deal with the other, and if the freeze wears off before you kill 1, freeeze agaiin, and kill the other one. Also, if you accidently freeze both, all the better, just use a powerful charge attack like Blitz or BTB, and kill that.
