Removed? Yes. Should be added back, though. This is just like hiding how much Stamina you have left in Elsword online, which would be very very very bad. It's very very very bad to "brush your life-support system's gauge under the carpet," so to speak.

Of course, this would take up more meaningful screen space. The portrait does that already, so let's put the two together! Why not have a gauge under the portrait which curves around the bottom circumference? This would be neat and tidy, as well as put everything in one place.

Yea, I would like this, when it could really give players an easier view of how many floors or how many revs they can pull of before quitting, and help with strategizing while playing, also a on hud crown meter would be good.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

But Larry, when I'm in the middle of a fight I can't open my inventory and check to see if getting hit in my dwindling state will suck up the last of my energy or not. D:

EDIT: Also, the character portrait is useless. This has at least some purpose, right? Can't we crowd the portrait out just a teeeency wheeeency bit?

Also, I'm totally opposed to Nick's idea of hiding currencies, but I can let it slide for crowns and CE. For mist, that's ridiculous, because that doesn't even bare any of the issues which Nick mentioned in showing your currency all the time.

@Batabii: But it doesn't show up before you get on an elevator. So you can't ask for a tab beforehand. And either way, there was no reason to hide it in the first place...

P.S: No, this doesn't count as a reason.

If you're already about to step on the elevator, you can check your inventory, and should have at least a vague idea if you have 25 mist or 5. And it brings up the tab notification automatically (unless you have enough CE to cover it). Besides, most people hate tab beggars.

seeing where this is going, I'm going to tell.
nick is NOT going to make a permanent display for crowns and ce. "linear mindset" ect. the best we can hope is mist. a little circle with a number inside. technically it's not currency because you can't trade it, so it can be.

Do this for me: justify having the portrait before you say the mist tank is bad.

You see, many players do not know about this at all. If it's put up in the portrait, either they will look up somewhere and see what that number means or they will ask around. It raises awareness of a core game feature, which shouldn't be hidden as it is.

Either that or have it show total energy.

@Batabii I understand your point, but you still have not answered the main question: why NOT? Sure, it's not entirely necessary, but if everything were down to the base essentials, why have a shield bar? Why a portrait? Monster health bars? They aren't NECESSARY, they're just helpful addons that save a bit of time and effort.

To be honest, I think the apppearance of the shield bar should be greatly reduced (like make it as big as the health bar next to other players is)

For the record, I'm not against the PROPOSAL, I'm against the REASONS.

I would like if there was a separate arrow tab for crowns+Energy (like the kind for Mission Objectives), but I don't think it's the biggest priority right now.

Larry I'm sorry they aren't treating you nicely. D:

(Ironic twist...twists own arm)

Anyway, there are a myriad of reasons to do this and I only put the ones I could think of off the top of my head. If you want to state your own, nothing is stopping you from doing so!

@Batabii

You want a good reason? My reason for adding something like this would be convenience. Putting a fairly important resource, that is only necessary in non-combat circumstances (like when you're dead or at an elevator) in an out-of-the-way yet permanently visible location would decrease the amount of careless screw-ups that occur as a result of forgetting how much mist you have, as well as make the UI easier to understand as it would have less moving parts. Not to mention that the current energy meter is not exactly the easiest thing to read - small blue numbers on a slightly darker blue background in a slightly lighter blue box that slides off of and on to your screen.

While I agree that a separate toggle would be nice, I see no reason the mist energy counter HAS to be permanently visible when it's rarely relevant. And you can't saddle the careless mistakes of noobs on three rings. Yes, I'm aware that its their job to teach players the basics, and yes the early missions should remind players to be mindful of their mist, but there's no reason to handhold them throughout the entire game.

And I thought they were making the game noob friendly...

Anyway, Bata, the question still stands: justify the portrait, then justify not having a permanent mist indicator.

Which part of the portrait don't you like? The whole point of it is so you know who is who without having to mouseover every party member one by one. In fact, it would also make it easier if the mic icon showed above the head of a talking player and not just next to the portrait.

If you mean your OWN portrait, I agree it could be smaller, but it's nice to see how your portrait looks to other players, and it's not easy to get a good close-up of your face in the Personal tab.

It's nice, but somehow more useful than a mist indicator? Do you need to know what your face looks like more often than how much mist you have?

+3.14569...

Thinks this is a great idea, BUT, also have to agree it is not the #1 priority. A small mist ring with a blue number around a slightly minimized portrait of my character would be MUCH better then a hard-to-see blue square beneath my inventory. Crowns are a nice thing to keep an eye on too. All in all, I think the good outweighs the bad here. I know Nick probably will completely ignore his thread thinking "stupid hata's", but hey! I gotta do SOMETHING to get my cr/ce/me display back. Signing off, ~Z

(P.S. I have no idea what pi actually is, making this up cuz im too lazy to look it up)

Yes, I know it appears when you need it, I think I just feel better knowing its there. Maybe I like it permanent because that's how it was when I first joined Spiral Knights, but I really just think it looks better

My god Batabii.

+1 to this.

On a side note, Batabii...

You're making a fool of yourself.

By logic, we should be able to gauge our mist tanks when we find it most convenient, so as to make our gameplay experience easier. You're supporting a feature that only serves the convenience of a few players, not for the big whopping majority that supports the players' wants. While the crowns and CE reserves are okay to be put off to the side, having a visible mist tank, even if it's only during the elevator and revival sequences, would help all players.

Additionally, the new portraits are too large right now, as a full Training Hall will cover up the left-hand buttons. Yes, there are hotkeys to those, but it's an inconvenience to players, especially those who are unfamiliar with the concept of hotkeys.

I'm not even mentioning how elitist you are right now.

Another reason

It was there before, and it was fine. Then they took it away with no solid reason as to why, and were met with complaints for it. Now someone proposes to add it back in, and receive support with well-justified reasons. If something like that doesn't get at least some recognition from OOO, what is the point of the suggestions forum if a well thought out suggestion with thoughtful support is ignored and given no explanation?

What I'm trying to get at: you took away something people liked, for seemingly no reason. Adding it back would make us happy and be beneficial. So can we have it back please?
