I have a wolver set ,bristling buckler and a tempered calibur and i want to know whats the best normal sword to me to use with the calibur (i know its better to have elemental, shadow and piercing swords but normal swordd are way more fun im my opnion)
i want either a sword from the troika line ( sudaruska) or one from the cutter line (wild hunting blade) so im your opnion which one is better for general use?
troika line or cutter line
I have a detailed sword guide. It advises against your double-normal-sword plan on technical grounds (damage output, etc.). But you probably don't want to hear that, so let me address your question directly.
Dread Venom Striker/Wild Hunting Blade and Sudaruska/Triglav are all fun swords. DVS/WHB is really unique, in that no other sword behaves like it. Suda/Trig is less unique, in that its regular attack is just like Divine Avenger/Gran Faust's, and its charge attack is much like Warmaster Rocket Hammer's. So maybe my vote is for DVS/WHB over Suda/Trig.
me and my friend started out with troika and its good n awesome
since u have ur calibur which has perfect charge attacks and mediocre regular attacks, ur troika can complement that well
it has a good angle and knockback on regular attacks, but u have to be careful with it and sometimes refrain from doing full combos
however the cutter is even worse, it has less dmg output, makes u move alot, is hard to aim with, has little angle, less knockback and is more of a fun type sword, which is awesome too, buuuuut probably not as useful for a beginner unless u are fairly skilled and have a constant framerate
overall the cutter can benefit nicely from sword dmg bonus i think, but like i said its more of a fun sword, while troika is to me almost the exact same thing as a divine avenger or a gran faust
both choices are nice, but cutter might be harder to use against monsters safely
now the reason, why i recommend troika, is because of its angle/range
both the regular and the charge attack of troika have a bigger range than calibur and a higher dmg for a single hit
whereas the cutter not only does less dmg, is harder to control and puts u in danger by moving u quickly, but is also outdamaged by ur calibur(im not 100% sure, but i think that to be the case)
so with the cutter u have a risky fun weapon, that cant do anything that ur calibur cannot do, but the troika offers u something, that ur calibur cannot offer you
cutter will always excel at taking down blocks and minerals quickly and that is something, that troika can never do, no matter how skilled you are and how much attack speed you stack, but then again ur calibur does that job quick enough
Cutter is harder to get used to than troika. You will encounter more heavy swords later on in the game, so it pays to use troika.
P.S. Triglav is the best line to craft troika to 5* <3
As Bopp's and Necro's comments highlight, similarity to other swords can be either a good or a bad thing depending on what interests you. I think Normal damage is underrated, though that might be because I'm not really keen on being a "pure" weapon class specialist and haven't yet noticed a reliable pattern to the monster themes I'll get in Danger Rooms relative to the theme for the rest of the level.
I find myself favouring Troika strongly, and a significant part of the reason is that I feel more competent with it than with Cutter. Orbwanter said that Troika's good for groups of monsters, but I find the charge attack to also be good for single big targets. Actually, I mostly use my Troika for its charge attack, particularly for squooshing lone monsters and very small groups, so YMMV here as well. Disclaimer: I find Troika easier to safely use, but don't have an awful lot of experience with Cutter so for all I know Cutter might be just as safe to use if you know what you're doing.
An even more significant part of the reason for my own personal preference, though, is that I simply like Troika's aesthetics in all incarnations from 2-star to 5-star but don't like Cutter's. Yet another part is that I find it more fun to more carefully place fewer attacks than to more easily place more attacks, though I actually prefer having both options- such as by using Magnus with a Jelly gun, which I imagine might be comparable to using Troika with Cutter. Fun and aesthetics are such subjective matters that if you can competently use both types I can only recommend getting whichever you think seems more satisfying to whack monsters with.
Re: both practical and fun concerns, you might want to look for synergies with other weapons you have already decided that you want to use, or are favoured by peops whom you party up with regularly and/or are commonly used by PUGgers. For example, weapons with high "interrupt power" and/or stun infliction can set monsters up for devastating combos with a Cutter, and Freeze infliction is handy for smashing with a slow-charging big hit like the adorable "Troik-thud!" overhead swing.
Troika is mediocre against single targets, but has the potential to deal a lot of damage to groups with its charge attack. Cutter is most useful against single targets, but against groups it can be difficult to find an opening to use the combo without spitting them with another weapon or a shield bash. Of the two, I prefer Sudaruska, paired with an Electron Vortex.
