Quick Custom Button Layout

Lately, I've been playing quite a bit of lockdown as both a bomber and a gunner. I'm primarily a pure bomber, so naturally I have a button setup that supports bombing. The problem is this same loadout is not very supportive for gunning and striking. So often, I have to open the option screen and change the loadout manually, which honestly isn't hard at all, but is none the less time consuming, esp. for a 7 minute of less game. I also understand that with the release of battle sprites, we will have even more buttons to juggle.

So, to make things just a tad easier, I thought it would nice to have a button to instantly switch, button layouts. By default, the button would not have a key assigned to it. This is to prevent new players from accidentally switching controls. Instead, the player would first have to alter a button configuration, assign a key to the "switch configuration" button, and save it as custom configuration. The "save as custom configuration" prompt will only appear if a "switch config" key has been assigned. Only a key that has not been previously assigned across both custom and current configs can be used. From there you can alter you current config to something else or leave it the custom config. Hitting the key either switches from custom to current, or custom to default if your custom is your current.

Now all you have to do is slap that button and boom, new button layout better suited for whatever you're trying to do. A small bit of text can appear at the very top to the screen to tell you what layout you just switched to. I imagine it could have its uses is actual combat if the switch is instantaneous, but if its a bit too sudden there could always be an switch animation like when you inspect a player. Perhaps even a cool down if absolutely necessary

I suppose I could've made it simplier but the basis for the idea is still there. So uh.. yea thats it.

So tempted to hit you upside the head.

I'll give this a +1 if you stop freaking saying "gunner" or "gunning" it is gunslinger and gun-slinging.

Ignore Waffle, he always gets fired up too easily. You can already do something like this by backing up sections of your registry.
Here's an example (Don't activate that one, that's mine and it'll probably mess up all your controls since our keyboard hardware could be different)

The only issue with that is that you need to restart the game for it to take effect. Although I guess you could terminate the process and reboot Spiral Knights and you'll come back exactly where you last were.
