Shards to Minerals?

So I was wondering what if we could craft Minerals from Shards (the materials), after the Battle Sprites update it would be convenient to be able to do this instead of grinding for Minerals and finding like Small Minerals throughout. Since Shards are common and as their description says, "A shard of (Mineral) that is too small to be used in powering gates but highly useful in alchemy," why not making a couple of Shards be crafted into an entire Mineral? Say 20 Shards for a small, 40 for a medium, 80 for a large and 100 for a shiny, I feel it would be a good use of Shards instead of keeping them without a useful purpose (except for Alchemy). Also, 2*, 3*, 4* and 5* Shards can also make it feel like a challenge by making them rarer and more productive (Ex. Instead of 20 1* shards to craft a small, you could use 4 5* shards instead but the 5* shards being extremely rare). Please critique my idea and tell me if it's just plain stupid, thanks! (Also i'm sorry if this was already suggested, just thought I would throw this out here. :P )

the problem with this is people generally have a coitus-ton of shards (in the thousands)

meld a bunch of shards together
craft another coitus-ton of food for sprites
get to level 100 in no time at all
the not-pokemon update is not obsolete in less than a week

as one would guess, 3-ring is not savvy with that

Hmm...

What if the drop rates of Shards was decreased or/and a higher cost for crafting them into a Mineral? or maybe a new Rarity to combine them?

Turn a material to a rarity. Bah. Bahaha. BahaHAHAHAHAHA!!! What would be the 0* mats? If there were no 0* mats what would we combine the 1* mats with when we craft? Orbs and crowns won't do the job. And what do you mean "Small" "Medium "Large" and "Shiny"? There are five Mineral sizes AND Mineral size is irrelevant if this system were to exist. We get the same amount of Minerals per shards.

It's just plain stupid, thanks!

Turn a material into a rarity? o.O I said "Use a new Rarity to combine Shards to form a Mineral" to make it more valuable. And there are only 4 Minerals sizes.... They would be relevant as it would be a faster way, (instead of keeping on making a Small Mineral with 20 Shards, they can make a Shiny with say 120 Shards which is equal to 6 Small Minerals). And as I said earlier to Thimol, "the drop rates of Shards could be decreased or/and be given a higher cost of crafting (more Shards for a particular Mineral size).
