For one this game holds "Accessories" to customize the look of your character. It does not hold any gender atributes let alone any strong hardcore violence. Its a game designed for everyone 10 and up and has 8 accessory anchor points, within those anchor points are over 50 different accessories and within those 50 accessories come multiple colors and arrays for each and every accessory and you're going to say its "not a dress up toy"? Plus did I forget to mention there are a CRAP TON of multiple costumes, and armors to best suit your style and the game includes wearing other armors as a costume. So its not just about action my dear Mtax its also about customization and in a sense dress up.

Firstly, in a virtual environment, everyone is genderless. Unless this is a dating or pornographic site, which it isn't. You should can your stereotypes, the gender of a person online has absolutely no definitive inclination on their behaviour, and shouldn't be forced on their appearance either.

Not because I'm a guy and I wouldn't wear them... But I'm afraid someone somewhere will go pointing feminist double standard fingers and I would rather that didn't happen. That's just for the dresses. The rest is fine. Why? Because dresses make no sense in a combat situation, but everything else is unobtrusive.

If so then why don't all our armors look identical? Why allow the use of accessories in the first place? If we truly were Knights in an army, a unified force, there would be an enforced uniform.
You can suppress the ability to express personality all you like for "logic's sake" but it doesn't make the game any more fun to look at or play.

@the sexist army.

For one, the dresses in spiral knights are used by MULTIPLE players that have aquired it in lockdown and many other fassions. It's a unique way to make players show a feminine side to how they would like their characters portrayed and it has great defense for piercing, shadow and normal defense.

Secondly the dresses are measured around knee length making them already "hard to walk in" yet the player walks around just like any other armor in the game. Another example that should be compared is the demolition suit. The suit is heavy, clunky and thus no knight should be able to even walk swiftly in such a heavily armored gear yet they RUN in that gear like it is no problem. Soooo why shouldn't a game implement such a fashion for dresses as well?

Thirdly, ITS A GAME!!! Since when do physics apply to a sword that is 2x the size of the knight and they swing it with 1 hand at ease? Since when do skinny puny huminoid creatures run around flailing a gun half their size (cough cough blitz) Since when is it logical to run around with a bomb and survive your own blast radius let alone place multiple bombs that come from a heavenly restock clip from heaven? What am I getting at? This isn't real let alone should it be made "real" because its here for our entertainment and if players approve tuxedos then damnit they should approve victorian dresses as well!

"If so then why don't all our armors look identical?" Because Armor is used for different situations. Plus this game would be boring if it only had 1 5 Star Armor set. Skolver for Piercing Freeze levels, Grey Feather for Elemental Fire/Shock levels.

"Why allow the use of accessories in the first place?" My guess is that it's a fun-little addition to the game. Dressers are different to Accessories...

I don't understand why everyone thinks I'm being stereotypical. I'm pretty sure almost anyone would agree that there are more male gamers than female. Why is this causing so many problems? Besides Radiant Silvermails useful for Concrete Jungle, SSL, and possibly any slime levels (if you use GF). I would just use a costume to go over it, although I don't have it.

Regardless of weather or not you are a male or a female the subject of the matter is that there needs to be neutrality on this matter. If people are upvoting one project over the other due to a minor gender issue there isn't neutrality something that should've been respected a long long time ago. Secondly even if there is a majority of male vs female that majority needs to be weighed out equal regardless of the percentile range. Lastly even if there are more males then females a lot of men would enjoy developing a character that suits their needs. Maybe they prefer having their character in a dress because it reminds them of a character they designed or developed, maybe they want their character to look like another character from a different game/series or maybe they just don't care at all about a matter and think they can bang out a good lookin character with a dress the excuses are endless but yet people are shooting it down because "they don't want there being men dressing up in dresses."

Cobalt is pretty gender

Cobalt is pretty gender neutral.

Again, I wouldn't oppose more female armor, but you seem to think there's a chance of SK having as much female armor as male armor. The fact is that isn't going to happen. Why?

1) Because more men play video games than women. You want more female armor in the game so that women can look unique, right? If I've got twice as many men as I do women in my game, I need to make half as many female armors for men and women to be equally unique amongst themselves.

2) Because women dressing up as men isn't as funny as men dressing up as women. Is that completely sexist? Yes. However, it's also completely true. Wore a girl for the genderbending day of my school spirit week, I certainly looked allot funnier than she did with mens clothing and a mustache. Of course, I make a great loli and I was able to say that I technically "got in her pants".

3) Because most "male" armor is actually neutral armor. No, this isn't a continuation of my last point. When you typically play MMO's, or video games in general, men have standard looking armor, but women have a bikini with a few metal plates. People think women have to be more feminine than men have to be masculine. This leads to neutral armor seeming "unladylike" when it's really for everyone.

Sorry, but I have yet to encounter a game that has substantially less female items than male items. (hairstyles, clothes, etc)

Because women dressing up as men isn't as funny as men dressing up as women.

Video game characters don't have dicks. How can you tell if a video game character is a man or a woman? It's purely dependant on the hairstyle and clothes. Not what's underneath.

While you do have a good point here, the problem is that there is female armor in this game, and the selection is very small. If the selection were to be expanded by another couple of models, it would be perfectly fine.

As for the dix. The characters don't have them, but the players do (sometimes). If I'm in a dress and I say "btw I'm guy" it's weirder than wearing a tux and saying "btw I'm a girl".

Women aren't the only one wearing dresses. I can bet you that half of the "girls" you see in the MMOs are guys. That's why they say "There are No Girls on the Internet".

Hardly, because that stuff doesn't matter online. How many female characters are actually being played by guys? Billions. If males like the female body, it's only natural that some will want to have their character in the image of it (some for testosterone reasons, some not)

50% genderless clothes - 50% female clothes is excessive. It would be a different story if males were clearly defined in the game, but they're not.
Aiming for 50% female armors means you'd need to add ~8 more lines of armor that are distinctly female.
