Special enemy types that are resistant to everything but Normal.

I can't really think of anything at the moment, probably something golem related that's not a lumber would probably be the most effective, but I feel like there should be enemies that could spawn anywhere, with any horde of enemy, that only doesn't resist normal damage (which wouldn't even be doing super effective damage.)

I find that normal weapons have no purpose, especially now with arsenal stations on every floor. You just need to bring the right weapon and you're set.

The only time it's good is when you're fighting Vanaduke, who basically has this concept built into his mask phase.

So why not apply it to a couple of monsters. They don't have to be super common, they can be scarce within waves (like out of 10 enemies 2-3 would be this enemy). That way normal weapons aren't super mandatory. It'll bring that concept of "should I bring it or shouldn't I?"

I mean we already have enemies working with each other. It's not like it would be unheard of to see this.

...what about those newbies who still don't know of damage types and resistances...?

That's what a tutorial is for.

It's not up to me to explain it. We have missions that can explain that to them.

Finally, a way to make normal weapons useful past T1.

Normal weapons have always been useful. Arsenal stations do not invalidate the use of them, neither do pure-classes.
Just because pure-classes users have no need for normal weapons, does not mean that no-one does.

Hm...

We don't necessarily need a new monster to resist everything but normal as a normal spawn. Like Hexzyle says, normal weapons still have uses.

If we ever have something like that, it doesn't have to be a completely new monster or whatever. A special enemy that resists everything but normal can really just a rare counterpart to certain enemies (sorta like how golden enemies or invincible) or enemy groups that spawn only in elite mode and have a chance to replace one of the normal monsters during the spawn. After all, OOO did say elite mode is only going to get more difficult as updates come by, and what we have for elite mode right is just the first slice of what they have in store for elite mode. It can work like how rare enemies are. It's really not necessary though.

It doesn't need to resist everything but normal. All you need is an enemy that resists two damage types as opposed to just one, like oilers that are on fire. You could also make more levels with diametrically opposed enemies. Slimes and fiends, for instance, would have no weapon be effective to one and neutral to the other. Same with beasts and constructs. Granted, bringing an elemental weapon to the first instance and shadow weapon to the other would get you by, but would have no advantage over normal-damage wepaons.

The papaya loves normal D:

My Nitronome is the only weapon I ever bring with me :) I never change/switch specific weapons, shields, or armor to counter a damage type. Well...maybe this is just how I do things :P Never underestimate ze normal damage >:)

Same. I always have my Suda on me, and I swap between my Neutralizer, Pepperbox and Supernova depending on what enemies I'll need to shoot down, and my DSB, Heavy Decon and Stagger Storm depending on what role I'm playing. That way I'm not restricted in my weapon selection when attacking certain enemies: I can use whatever weapon I like, whenever I like.

@Orangeo: Nope, it's resistant.
I bring my winmillion when solo. It's not the best weapon, but it stills useful sometimes. I want a 5-star one D:

Make a new gremlin with an adaptive shield - similar to menders, that constantly switches defense types.
And a chameleon chromalisk thing that changes colors.

Normal weapons will always be effective, but not exclusive. Put those enemies on a new mission.

I used cali for, like, all 3

I used cali for, like, all 3 years I've been playing SK. Never had a problem with it. Don't see a reason to add enemies just to make it more popular. Its a good all-arounder when you can't carry 4 weapons and there is more than 1 enemy type, or they cover each other's resistances (like vana's mask that is resistant to elemental).
