Since I got my new PC, after a few minutes SK would begin to scramble up textures and then would eventually crash. However, I found a way around this by allocating extra RAM to SK and switching to 64-bit Java, and after that the game ran fine.
However, following the Battle Sprite update I found that the game would freeze every minute or so, and also my computer's performance was severely reduced. I found that a program was leaking memory, and figured that the program was SK. Today I found that the source of the leak was from the freezes; whenever I would close the frozen game, memory would be leaked. These freezes only happen when I use 64-bit Java, though within 32-bit lay the texture problems and crashes that made me switch in the first place.
I suspect that the main problem lies within incompatibilities in Windows 8.
Intel Core i5 4670-K
Intel HD Graphics 4600
Corsair Vengeance 8gb RAM
EDIT: Did some more testing and found 32/64-bit Java to be responsible instead of how much RAM I use. Changed the article as needed.
Some screenshots of the problem I have using 32-bit Java:
Swarm-infested HUD
A termidrakon and Battle Sprites using Oculus Rifts
The problem mainly manifests itself in 2D images such as materials, HUD, and text but it does pop up in some 3D textures too.
