So I got an idea while looking at Bosco's Mecha Knight and later fighting the Collector: How about we make a gigantic friendly mecha knight that delivers supplies to Vaelyn and friends? However, he's pretty much a walking tank without a cannon. That's where you come in.

You gotta escort him all the way to the Core Terminal from Emberlight while keeping in mind that he'll die over time because of the shock he inflicts. He carries one of those mega supply boxes on the back and I guess it would be quite logical to put it the day after the supply pack delivery mission pops up. You can pick an arcade gate yourself, however you can't pick the gate with FSC in it just because. At the Clockworks Terminal, his health is fully reset and he cannot shock himself anymore until the next level.

Also, just because I feel like, make the Mecha Giant cower in fear when next to enemies. Elephants are afraid of mice, right?? Right?? Additionally like the Impostoclaus, make him shout stuff when he's hit. The Mecha Giant can also poop out oil when he's scared.

Cool, just as long he doesn't get in the way and can actually keep up with the party unlike those annoying NPC knights.

@Nepe Nice reason.
@Retaeq Actually it doesn't matter, since friendly NPCs are teleported to party buttons.

I also was thinking of adding a random status collector-type robot battle right before the core terminal, not sure about it tough.

Thank you.

But you want a serious answer?
Escort missions are the bane of all missions in ANY game.
I would rather do Darkfire Vanaduke solo with 0* gear and no SoL/energy/cr than do ANY type of escort missions.
Here's a few good reasons why this mission would not take off:
- From Emberlight to the Core:
Most prestige missions are only 3 depths MAX. No one wants to waste an 1.5-2 hrs on a prestige mission.
- Shock is a status that not only affects the bot, but affects the user if they get too close. Since almost all the gates are either poison or freeze themed, I don't expect a lot of people to be well prepared for the extra stat.
- The gimmick with escort missions is that the NPC is programmed to run to the nearest enemy to create conflict, giving you a challenge. Now imagine if one unlucky soul should be stuck with a compound, arena, or devilite drudgery. Would you want to play through that? I wouldn't.
- What are you supposed to do when it dies? Do you automatically fail the mission, because that's usually what it means if the person/thing you're escorting dies.
- Why do we even need the bot? What is the point? We're knights, we can do this on our own.
- Why would we even still have the supply delivery mission if we're going to have this?
- Pooping robots is a satirical thing, something that OOO hasn't really showed too much of in this game. Frankly, it's just out of character.
- When people realize all this, plus the fact that this is problem not going to have a reward equal to the amount of frustration this just put the people through, they will not play this mission. It'll just be pretty much abandoned, like the crafting prestige missions where you have to turn in a 4-5* weapon for prestige. Only extremely seasoned knights who are bored out of their minds would play this.

If you're still bent up about wanting an escort mission at all, then at least make it a reasonable plot. Something like this:
A squad of low ranked knights ran head first into a dungeon way out of their league, were disarmed, and captured. Your mission is to go in, break them out, and escort them out of THREE levels to a clockwork terminal for immediate medical attention (and probably a court martial)

Sounds like fun.

Sounds like fun, but entire T3 would be too long for me. 1 level would be good, 2 doable.

Maybe as Event. Is there some day in RL that's famous for bringing supplies somewhere? Berlin Air-Bridge comes to mind, but I'm too lazy to dig up dates. Anything else?

Btw, I didn't know Mecha Knights can shock themselves to fall apart. Never seen that happen as far as I remember. Now that we can't drop them, I just tend to stand back, watching them get killed by the next monsters I run into before continuing normally.

Dropping oil (not pooping, ew) would only be fun in fire levels. Why not have him lose all other stuff that beasts spit at you too?

Retaeq, Delivery-Man being a burden is the point no? (Hm, now I wonder if the point of those noobs we have to rescue is to be a burden too. Who let them down there with that gear anyway? I bet it was Rhendon, in between shooting Constructs with a piercing weapon. He's bright like that.)

Inferno, I was going to say something about teleporting, but then remembered that the noobs sometimes fail to teleport to the point where they're needed to get their noob friend to open the lock... Probably when they're stuck behind a respawning block, too close to teleport, but too far for him to trigger, or something.

Nepetatheleo, we have enough of rescuing noobs, IMO. Check 8-2; The Great Escape if you're into that.
I'd rather escort a not too bright not fighting robot through 1 level. Kind of like the Winterfest, except you don't have to run back and forth carrying presents, you just have to get this giant to the end whole.
Preferably a city-style level (like Devilish Drudgery, Concrete Jungle, Dark City), or nature (Aurora, Lichen Lair, Wolver Den, Jigsaw). Best would be a mix, with random status.
Replayable. Skip prestige, give us tokenzzzz for booooxes that contain moar tokenzzzz for moar booooxes.

Ok, my fondness of opening boxes, whatever's in them, broke through there. Sorry.
So, rewind to first mentions of tokens. Something fun in them that counts as supplies. Hey, how about Forge boxes?

And every time Delivery-Man is hit/takes {this much} damage, you lose 1 token from the end reward.

This might as well not be a prestige then. The whole point of it is that it's one and done. I guess this would really be more of an event thing, but if it's revolving around a mecha, I guess we're going to need to make new content to be more themed around it? (for prizes in the prize box) Not sure how people would feel about a Steampunk promo. (personally, I think it would be terrific if it was executed properly with some new, awesome gear.)

@Mickmane Actually, I like your idea. I think it would work out well pretty nice.

@Nepeta No one wants to waste an 1.5-2 hrs on a prestige mission
Yet people "waste" much more time on non-vana arcade lately. This would give them extra challenge. Basil still has recipes, they can do a Shadow Lair with the bot (Seriously tough, who would?) and more.

What are you supposed to do when it dies? Do you automatically fail the mission, because that's usually what it means if the person/thing you're escorting dies. What do you do if your teammate leaves during a run, but you still want the loot? That's the case here - If the mecha dies you either get to continue on or go back and try again.

Shock is a status that not only affects the bot, but affects the user if they get too close. Since almost all the gates are either poison or freeze themed, I don't expect a lot of people to be well prepared for the extra stat.

I am aware of how Shock can shock players nearby to it's source when the paralysis function pops up, but I doubt a tier 3 knight wouldn't know that. If you're that furious about it, OOO could place a NPC or put it into the description of the mission. If they don't want to read, it's their own risk. It's like going to HOI thinking it's a fire mission.

The gimmick with escort missions is that the NPC is programmed to run to the nearest enemy to create conflict, giving you a challenge. Now imagine if one unlucky soul should be stuck with a compound, arena, or devilite drudgery. Would you want to play through that? I wouldn't. Again, he's a damage tank. This "one unlucky soul" could also wait one minute or two for the level to cycle if they were smart.

Why do we even need the bot? What is the point? We're knights, we can do this on our own.
I said: He carries one of those mega supply boxes
one of those mega supply boxes
those mega supply boxes
mega supply boxes
mega

Sure, there are no mega boxes in the game, so yes, I made a fault. Excuse me for not removing "one of those" from my post.
Why would we even still have the supply delivery mission if we're going to have this?

I imagine it's like preparing the bot for the travel.. Plus, did you even read the description of those? "Knights stationed in the field" is what it says. I wouldn't dare to call the Core Terminal, which pretty much is a safe zone, a (battle)field. I don't care if they open up the core, it simply will stay a safe zone and would work like a terminal or a subtown, asking if they want to procceed or return.

Pooping robots is a satirical thing, something that OOO hasn't really showed too much of in this game. Frankly, it's just out of character.

True. That was meant to be a joke. I am aware that there's no idea how to see if something's sarcastic or not on the internet, but I still have humor. Blah.

When people realize all this, plus the fact that this is problem not going to have a reward equal to the amount of frustration this just put the people through, they will not play this mission. It'll just be pretty much abandoned, like the crafting prestige missions where you have to turn in a 4-5* weapon for prestige. Only extremely seasoned knights who are bored out of their minds would play this.

Yet some people play Arcade as I said before. And if people wasted 2kce+ on reviving C42 before, why wouldn't they do the same with their time for a big amount of prestige?

If you're still bent up about wanting an escort mission at all, then at least make it a reasonable plot. Something like this:
A squad of low ranked knights ran head first into a dungeon way out of their league, were disarmed, and captured. Your mission is to go in, break them out, and escort them out of THREE levels to a clockwork terminal for immediate medical attention (and probably a court martial)

So you're saying that people who sit 29 depths under the surface should not get some food or something to power up their computers? Let's let them die, anyway. One of the knights at Vaelyn's camp also asks "Have you brought supplies for us?". It is the only thing he says, so that's pretty sad if you ask me. Your lore has been seen 4+ times in the missions, try to find them.

Whew. Any more questions?
