Glamour and glitter, fashion and fame are rather unrelated to actual gear in this game and thus, I don't like that they should share loadout system. My suggestion is rather simple:
-Costumes are not a part of loadouts anymore
-SHIELD COSTUMES
-A new kind of loadout interface (costumes, I guess) that only consists of the two (three if SHIELD COSTUMES) costume slots is made.
-Equipping a loadout will not affect your costume.
-Equipping a costume will not affect your loadout.
-Items can now go in both costume and equip slot at the same time so that one can equip a loadout, use parts of it in a costume, and then keep the costume when switching loadout.

My weapon wielding thread existed before your collabs thread did. The cleaver is nice, but I mean a COSTUME SLOT! And making the darkfang line legit is possible with modifications.

I never said I was the original suggester of said idea (there's actually a disclaimer in the introduction of my thread) I was just doing a redirect to a more fleshed out thread.

You seem to have misunderstood. The main reason I linked the cleaver was not because it is a reskin (aka costume of a currently existing weapon) but because of its horribly mismatched hitbox. Imagine people swinging Troikas like they were cutters, Callahan firing Blitz Needle rounds, ugh. Don't even get me started on impaling your face with the butt of a Grim Repeater.
Ugliness, everywhere. The already-existing weapon clipping issue will become a pandemic.
Yep. Rename it to "Wise Owlite Shield" and have it use the same model, crafting line, and recipes. Why don't we just make Tabards and Chapeaus craftable while we're at it?

I don't think it is fair to consider the DFS (darkfang shield) to be just a wise owlite shield. If you look at the stats you can see that the DFS has higher normal but lower elemental defense then the WOS. This means the DFS is a better elemental melee shield then the WOS. So I do think it would be fair to give it's own 5 star version seeing how I honestly would prefer higher normal then elemental.

Redundancy. The DFS is to the GOW & Heater like the Aegis is to Ironmight and RJS. We need more shields, but not ones that are only half a bar in a single stat different from a pre-existing shield.
+0. Shield Costumes would be nice, because that would mean that my green ward would actually be seen...but why stop there?
