Let us edit the chat settings so we don't have to constantly /clear crap messages about obtaining shards and whatnot. It's getting old, especially since the messages never fade away.

Maybe just for 0-4* mats that don't bind to you upon obtaining.
Good idea to alter chat settings. I'll give a +1, although i personally don't really care about the mats clogging my chat screen.
