What does it do to status resist? Anything?

As far as I'm aware, it has no effect on Status Resist.

Which means the whole "remove defense" thing is slightly misleading.

No. Status resistance is not a kind of defence.

It doesn't make much of a difference as far as T2. Deathmark increases your toothpick damage from 2 pips to 3 pips. Strikers do 3 pips with a toothpick without the deathmark. This means that striker is by far more powerful than the others in T2 (I think I just derailed this).

Striker

->Boost = Ability to chase and run away
->16 max health
->Dmg bonus very high(because you should be using dusker)

Guardian

->Useful shield that doesn't fall in 2 hits
->19 health

Recon

->Rather useless deathmark
->No ability to burst opponents down with a surprise attack
->FOOTSTEPS
->19 health

Yaaaa. T2 is ridiculously unbalanced.

Using toothpick with deathmark = failing.

In T2, Brandishes can get maximum exploitation from deathmark.
