>> Next level is beasts
>> When you go to beast levels, you bring pierce weapons
>> When you bring pierce weapons to said beast level, level is also filled with slimes and constructs on occasion
>> When you fight slimes and constructs in beast levels with pierce weapons, you're going to have a bad time.
>> Don't be the guy who has a bad time with pierce weapons to beast levels ever; join Paintool's Paradox Patrol and save time and money.

>>Theory: (Acheron buff was to super megakill everything that includeds fluffy creatures, squares with problems, and mega robot deathanators)
>>Proposed Solution: Don't ever craft flourish line weapons or blitz needle. Volcanic Pepperboxes solve everything!

Seriously though, I feel that this is a flaw in design rather than it being flourishes fault. Why put enemies that malfunction your main weapon against the monster your supposed to fight? I think the complimenting class type should at least be neutral to flourish or pierce damage (gremlin or undead), but surprise surprise, you'd bring an Acheron to mame growth stunted furries and still beat the pulp out of tinier growth stunted furries.

The only answer to make would be to pair beasts with undead, so that logically You could use pierce weapons without resorting to something else.

But I guess Combuster solves everything right?

Discuss!

Straight-Line

Couldn't you just buy two more weapon slots and have other damage type weapons?

You do have two weapon slots,

You do have two weapon slots, but why bring an pierce weapons at all when you can deal super neutral shadow brandish damage to everything, plus a gun or bomb of your choice?

Outside of PvP, I find it hard to use flourishes in their proposed natural environment..

Just because a level is monster-themed does not mean you will only find that one monster in the level. This is the clockworks, things are unpredictable: equip yourself accordingly. If you don't, you'll never last in combination levels like Clockworks Tunnels with their associated Danger Rooms, Battle Arenas, or Compounds.
If all else fails, always carry a normal-damage weapon. Back when Arsenal Stations were only ever in Terminals and Subtowns, that's what everyone did.

I'm heavy weapons kinda of

I'm heavy weapons kinda of guy, and this (Sudaruska) is my weapon.
She's a level 10, ASI Medium 5* normal damage item with slight chance to cause medium stun.

It cost me 1.2 million crowns to get ASI medium after 50 bajillion rolls.

Some people in PvP think they can outsmart me.

Maybe.
"sniff"
Maybe...
------------------------------------------

Seriously though, I take a Sudaruska with me everywhere I go. It's normal, and it can do heavy damage, knockback and clear things when I'm in a pinch. You can use it against everything, and stun is cool.

If people use more troika line family swords and see enough demand, maybe someday we'll have the Third Troika as an option, like Brandish got it's Apocrean variant.

the counterpoint

The counterpoint to all of this is that piercing swords have much wider first swings than Brandishes do. You can often hit multiple beasts, doing higher total DPS than with Acheron. Of course, interrupting multiple targets is also safer than interrupting just one. Similar remarks apply to Gran Faust vs. Acheron against, say, slimes.

Of course, we're talking about beasts, so I shouldn't even bring up safety. They're by far the easiest monster family. The real target of the piercing swords is fiends, which are arguably the hardest monster family.

Beasts are very easily taken down

My PvE universal loadout consists of a warmaster rocket hammer, magma driver, acheron, and dark briar barrage. If the acheron doesn't take them out, the bomb will.

The biggest flaw with piercing swords is that the monsters you fight that are weak to piercing are much easier when you don't use a sword. The Dark Briar Barrage makes beasts a joke, while piercing guns and bombs take care of about every fiend encounter.

What did you say?

">>Proposed Solution: Don't ever craft flourish line weapons or blitz needle. Volcanic Pepperboxes solve everything!"

I like that idea! Why worry about a level with a bunch of unpredictable monsters that shouldn't be there when you can just use an underated yet overkill weapon that destroys everything!

I've got nothing to say about Acheron's over poweredness though. Everything has already been said.
