What if the art were as good as it used to be?

All the new enemies have somewhat less interesting artistic representation. Gorgos, for instance are basically a solid color and generally don't look as, well, interesting (quite frankly) as the older monsters. The same thing goes for these new glop drops and the scarabs look like something out of Metroid.

My suggestion: stop using solid colors so much. Make textures less simple.

P.S.: I probably did not forget to mention this when the new shard bombs were created, but If you're going to replace a weapon with something whose function is at least a tenth as good as its predecessor, at least make the new gear look good.

P.P.S.: The older enemies and NPCs look great, though!

Art is very subjective. If you dislike a certain art style, then try and do your own modding.

@Zaffy-Laffy: I'm afraid that you have reached the extent of my knowledge. I have no idea what "modding" is.

Modding is the act of modifying game files (usually by just replacing them) to change things about it. It's pretty easy to mod SK, specially the textures since they're in a .png format.

You sorta have a point with the gorgos though, I don't really like their look. Their coloring should resemble more with their devilite counterparts, and the spikes on their backs are kinda lame.

To add up, I think the artist is making the armors' legs too dark recently. Look at the warden costume's armor for example. The color of the legs is far darker than the half top of the body.

Shadow effects.

I do agree that Gorgos look a little bland, but then again, I can't draw or animate.

@The "modding" community: I certainly can't speak for the entire player base but I think that I can safely assume a few things:

  • most people don't have the time to engage in modding or don't have the coding education that I now assume is required (I certainly don't).
  • it is agreed that it should not be the responsibility of the player to make up for possible discrepancies in the game.

The second assumption is what most suggestions hinge on, but it is only true if the majority of affected or concerned players would like to see the change being discussed and believe a discrepancy in quality to be present. Now, if my first assumption is correct then this suggestion is valid. However, I have no way of knowing if it is or isn't so I am appealing to the powers-that-be to see if they believe it is. If they believe that most players will not agree with this change, then the developers etc. will use their proper judgement and disregard the suggestion.

Almost every older armors didn't had that shadow effect (except for the blazebreak armor, which fits pretty well), and it looks good. That "shadow" effect on the warden armor's legs made its coloring too odd.

Btw, I mistook the guardian armors for the warden ones. I fixed it on the post above.

Textures require no coding at all.
For the sake of modding in the sense of just modifying existing texture content, you would just edit the proper 'image' file (not necessarily for SK, this is generic). It is technically against ToS, but as long as you don't post images showing it off, you can't be stopped (although I've seen many people post images that accidentally show off modified text fonts or textures, and not get banned.... OOO seems pretty lax if it doesn't make it seem like you're "cheating")
