Why exactly is Heat inside boxes? Just have them drop crowns, Mats, and the occasional Rarity.

Yes please. Remove items like vials from them too. Health capsules could still drop from hp boxes simply because they're related to hp.

No logic is in this post.
Why do we even have boxes again? Oh right. Heat and Crowns. So we might as well remove heat from boxes and slap a crown symbol on boxes.

Even though crns are only about 30% of green boxes and 45% of red boxes...
They actually don't add too much to the net gain.
OCH is the only place where I can truly estimate box crown rewards (bosses are relatively isolated but drop crowns as well, so it skews the data).
With the current average of my data on elite... the 12 red reward boxes give an average of 275 crowns (less the crns from elevator wheel). Removing heat from the drop list would double that to 550. Source.
What this suggestion should be instead is asking for a higher frequency of red boxes.
Although, I bet you they have something coming up. Can't spoil anything though.

Instead of removing heat embers from boxes, why not just decrease the drop rate of heat embers dropped from boxes dramatically?
