Overworld & World above

Hi im a New knight who started playing recently and i must say, the game has a beautiful overworld that i want to explore!
when i talked about it with a freind, he said "creatrues are stronger the closer they are to the core, there is no point to go to the overworld"

however, i must disagree, take a look at that huge iron sentinal tree thing that you fight with the three veteran knights!

so i came up with a new idea, what if you could go on "overworld scouting missions" and be tasked with exploring the surface like those 3 knights?
this could be really fun! and imagine if there was more than one town like haven with more strangers and such?
like if you head far west enough you could come to a port town that has pirate gear like a cutlass weapon or a naval themed costume set, or if you go far east enough you come across asian themed strangers with a katana weapon and ninja robes?

the reason i came up with this idea is that the game looked very open and inviting on the surface, it was vibrant and interresting but then i was sucked underground into the boring world below with its industrial layout...
also, cradle has a moon, why cant we go there?

Yes

It would be really nice if OOO devs started to work on the overworld levels and made it an open world but that's just my suggestion.

This has been suggested many times already

Monsters on the surface would not prove a challenge. If we wanted the surface to be a good source of anything really, we would need to have minimal enemies, and a whole lot of puzzles. The puzzles could have rewards that compete with other tiers.

No to the moon and other towns though. In the early build for the game, players spawned in different subtowns depending on their gear. This separated the population massively, and so now we all spawn in Haven. I say no to the moon because, for one, how do we get there, and two, if we could get there, why? Cradle has the giant source of power, the moon is just a hunk of space rock. Lastly, if we can get there, why can't we just go into space again?

Having more towns is just an option, these towns would maybe have 2 or 3 vendors, a few bits of scenary, some lore, a few mission options etc, this is just to make the world seem more open and like your not just stuck in haven.
that said, i do like the idea of a more puzzle focused method of travel, maybe using bits and peices of the clockworks to get to different areas and open new paths?

the monsters are there just to make it more interesting, it would sorta be boring to just do a ton of puzzles. but i think it would be cool to have just a few basic enemies here and there (slimes and beasts in the forest, mechs and gremlins in the industrial) and have a few mini-boss enemies like that ironwood sentinal to give a challenge.
natrually the drops you get from the various enemies would be minamal like shards and ecto drops and gel drops, maybe a random token from the mini boss enemies like a primal spark.

on the topic of the hole space thing, it seems like cradle is constructed, so why did they construct a moon if they wanted to hide nothing there?
maybe after repairing the skylark they start working on a smaller ship to go there or something?
