Honestly, as a paying player, I enjoy the prize boxes.
It's not playable content, but it's not like the art team needs to sit around with nothing to do being paid hourly for staring at the developers. Heck, the fact that the art team is making these promos are helpful to the developers as it lets them, you know, eat.
Plus if you're looking for "new" content, look to the arcade - its gates are constantly shifting so you can have a good lot of fun in there as the gates rotate.

Everyone here has a point; players, especially veteran ones, need truly new content to stay interested, but the developers of F2P games are often in need of quick cash due to overall low profits. It's an unfortunate impasse that occurs between the creators and users of such games.
That said, this veritable rainbow of costumes is beginning to look a little dull and faded from my perspective, no matter how bright and colorful it may actually be.

All we get are boring Reskins of the same armor and a particle effect of some map converted in auras ( vana sprite's in flower aura im looking at you >_>)

Time is money
As Fangel has said art team has to do something then sit around and everyone needs to get paid to eat, continue work etc...
But if your tired of waiting I suggest you can do some arcade or take a break from the game, explore other things basically something to pre occupied you until you want to play spiral knights again or until the gunner update comes, your not forced to play if your not satisfied leave

That has already been discussed before - Players already know that the game needs more new content than just having prize boxes every time.
