Winterfest Questions

I didn't want to post this in new recruits since, 1) New recruits doesn't seem to be looked at and responded to often, and 2) I'm not a new recruit (just made Vanguard (yay!) and It just happens to be my first Winterfest.
Can someone please explain what to do during Winterfest? Is the regular arcade affected by the event or is it only the two prestige missions? Is their anything worth grinding for? Do the frosty prize boxes have anything good in them, or is it just lame accessory and costume frosty recolors? The only thing I see that I like is the Snowflake eyes, but are they permanent, or do they go away after Winterfest ends? How can I get a Humbag Hat? Basically, what should I do, and what should I try and get? (I don't really want to go for weapon reskins, I think they are cool but I already have the weapons I want.)
Thanks for the helpful responses in advance guys.

Questions in New Recruits are answered promptly by several responders. Threads tend not to be long, just because the questions can be answered unequivocally in a few posts.
Fangel has given you good advice here. Grinchlin Assault is regarded as one of the most difficult missions nowadays. Some players grumble that it is difficult in a stupid way. But you should still give it a try. Have fun.

Okay, but Damian-Killard should still give it a try, so that he can evaluate whether he agrees with you, earn the right to complain about "artificial difficulty", etc.
Every player should strive to do everything in this game at least once. Content is precious. Cheers.

The grinchlin mission is tough as nails, but it does not have the level of artificial difficulty that some are complaining about - it's far more mentally intensive than most missions because of the sheer quantity/variation of enemies, but is still a fair mission at the end of the day. That said, the rewards are not worth the time unless you really want the reskins - play it if you'll enjoy the challenge, but don't go in expecting a viable grinding method. Save winterfest is a far more practical option for grinding as, to elaborate on what fangel said, humbug hats only drop there (none to be found in grinchlin assault!) and you can farm for those snowflake eyes.

I wonder if there has been any data collecting with the frosty prize box and if yes, where I can find it. Would really like to know what my chances are to get valuable items and how rare it is that I got 2 wings and 2 heat amplifiers in 2 boxes:D

I haven't seen any such data, and I keep my eyes open and frequently converse with data collectors. But maybe there is someone out there with the data you want. Good luck.

the thing about mount krampus is that its not the enemies that are that hard (unless solo)
but the team you pretty much have to have screwing things up
I did a few runs and I only took damage from 2 things
lagging in the wheel spots
and teammates leading trojans into me

I really want one, and I know I get one from killing Grinchlin Stalkers, but do I need to be having a present on my back? Because I've been farming for it in Save Winterfest by going to the main room without a present (since less enemies spawn without a present) and a Grinchlin Stalker always spawns their and I kill it and then restart. Someone said their are no more Humbug Hats dropping, is this true? And is my way of farming a possible way of getting this hat? Thanks.

I don't know, as I don't farm Humbug Hats at all. But I will say that there is a thread on the front page of General Discussion about Humbug Hat drop rates, and there are no responders. So maybe nobody has much understanding of how to get them. If you discover useful information, post it to help others, please.
Some foes get a xmas hat thingy
Arcada is not affected by the event (only the hat thingy)
You have to farm: GA and SWF if you want the rekins & cosmetics
Save WinterFest (cosmetics) and Grinchlin Assault (reskins)
GA is not that hard FSC would be harder if it didn't give you hp (because some monsters in GA dont give you health capsules)
this is my first winterfest and i already beated GA . with 2 bars and freezing lag so its not that hard , the 1st (because of the bullet spam) and boss room are the hardest (the only room you should be using your sparks on)
the weapons you'll need
*Acheron,Barbarous thorn blade (crowd control), Blitz/Chaingun/Volcanic pepperbox (last two for Giant linches because they're annoying and one of the few zeals that drains your hp) Some sidearm Valiance,Sentenza,Obsidian carbine (Strongly recommended)
*Chaos set (Elemental Resist)
*Some boost shield Swiftrike or BTS

The mission isn't impossible but it has an extremely low margin of error. Teammates, lag, and the ever-present threat of that random falling snow ruining you movement and attack speed are reasons why this mission is harder than Vanaduke.
And that Battlepod at the end of the second floor is such a pain to defeat, not just because you have Stalkers deathmarking you, Rocket pups respawning in, Menders laying down multiple healing pads, Battlepod pushing you into spikes, but mainly because you have such a small space to deal with all this.
New Recruits is a good place to go to ask questions about what to do in the game, be it a new event, a reoccuring event, what weapons to choose, all that stuff. Just because you're a vanguard doesn't mean you can't experience something new or need help. :)
That being said, you get the humbug hat as a drop from Grinchlin Stalkers in the "Save Winterfest" mission. Someone else can confirm for me if they drop on Mt. Krampus, as I don't know myself, although I would think they would.
If you need a goal, try to farm the frosty prize boxes. After you open them, you'll get some fun snowballs to throw about year-round. You'll also get frosty costumes and accessories - which if you don't want to wear, can sell on the auction house. You can also save up for the winterfest scarves, and snag those, however you might get weapon or trinket slot upgrades from the frosty prize boxes which you can either save, use, or sell.
If you want a challenge, try out grinchlin assault. It's very difficult, and if you like the challenge, keep playing it. At the very least you can sell the materials you don't use to vendors for extra crowns.
If you just want to advance further, make more gear. If you think you might want a flourish in the future, maybe see if you can get the materials to make the reskin, because you're poking people with candy.
Oh, and anything that doesn't say that it will expire will be permanent. Most of the winterfest hats are festive, but the frosty costumes are not.
