So, if any knights are on a hiatus from the game, this is the post for you. I was just wondering what you guys would want in an update that would make you start playing again. Mine would be adding Tortodrone armors. I need it to match my torto-gun.

Active players, feel free to post here!

Radiant Sun Shards.

Fixes for longstanding bugs proving dedication by developers a close second.

MUCH THINGS AND MANY STUFFZ!

I really just want a cycle of gameplay changing updates to come about.
What I said was most likely confusing, thus I shall elaborate

The only recent update to modify gameplay in some way was the gunner update (I might be wrong about this. havn't been following the game recently)
I honestly don't care what content they add, as long as it affects the gameplay in a positive way and helps to solve the staleness problem

I understand the devs don't live to keep giving us new things to play with, but for me the game has gotten stale now that the cycle has pretty much ground to a halt.(I can't even beat the royal jelly solo yet, shows you how little I bother with actually rushing through the missions)

Just like the Clockworks, the cycle should never grind to a halt(my 1cr on the thought)

[Wall of Text is Wally and Texty] It would take a lot, now that I've gotten into other MMOs. It would need at least two more bosses, more missions, The Clockworks Redux, some new texturing would be nice, more equipment, and regularity in player response, the biggest thing a game can do to put me off of it is have dev response any more sparse than 3 days or so(It makes me nervous xD). Another thing that would have to happen is the removal of the forge. The forge is unnecessary and a pretty simple cash grab that makes it virtually impossible to play casually, as leveling up 5 star gear requires WAY too many crystals, especially since it's a chance system. To end I'd like to add that in all honesty I wouldn't mind the good 'ole 100 energy system, and the old ui back. OOO made an easy 7.50 out of me for a good few months back in the day, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind that guaranteed cash.

Re balance the Game. Which is Vague. Do it anyway. Pretty much everything needs to be tweaked at the least, and redone completely at most.

Mechanically Variate pretty much all weapons from each other.
Mechanically Variate pretty much all Armor from each other.
Mechanically Variate pretty much all shields from each other.
Create Non-intrusive, Low bandwidth ways to Track Item usage, Stage Choice, And other Variables so that you have data to Help Improve the Game.
Watch what is "Popular" and balance things so there is more apparent Choice.
Squash the Bugs.
Create PvE generation environments for Late Game Retention.
No "eliteism" Items that affect Gameplay; Cosmetic elitist Only.
Create More Solid Mechanics.
Recode game into Less Buggy, more Powerful Software.
Let Players Know what is on your Mind, and How you're planning the Game. Transparency.
Balance Monsters Comparatively to each other and what is "Popular".

Radiant Silverhelm (I need that nice yellow color to match WHB), Vitahelm (otherwise I have to wear Spiral Bombhead or Quicksilver helm)...
do something with Vitasuits (like some form of health revives) Or something that makes them more useful than Ancient Plate...
let me have ASI-4, ideally -6. Gotta go super duper slow!

Make Winmillion a better gun-sword-bomb by making enhancing the gun and bomb parts (increase radius of AOE slash, increase projectile damage on charge).

More minor patches that tweak the balance. OOO can make money off buffing weapons no one has and nerfing the ones everyone uses. It'll give me a good reason to pick up weapons I've never tried and use different playstyles.

It'd also be nice to have more variety in levels, although this is coming from a guy with nearly 2200 hours of playtime. I'd like more bosses like the Roarmulus Twins, where it's an emphasis on puzzle and strategy, rather than those like Seerus which is just a DPS war with an army of minions. If anything, I'd like to see the opposite, where we have an army of knights up against some colossal titan or a team of gremlin commandos.

Yup, Yup

Use the LoL balance. It works.

the Clockworks are already Kinda Randomly Generated. Maybe A procedural Engine, It's already in a grid format. Once you have that Program Down, that takes out a Large Portion of the dev time needed to make Interesting Levels. Then, even if you can't generate the traps and Puzzles, you only have to do the Puzzles/Traps, and have the Engine Slap them in.

SK would need a lot of content for me to come back full-time, or anyone who's long gone for that matter. A simple boss update or gear update isn't enough anymore. Experienced players would beat those stages / get the gear in the first couple hours of play and it becomes a thing of the past, instantly. They would need to bring in as much content as there is content in the game already, and something like that is never going to happen.

As someone who has been playing this game since 2012 and has ~2900 hours clocked in, I would say that there isn't any other way they can get back on their feet. Most old Vanguards will probably admit that the game itself is no longer fun. We've seen every Clockwork stage so many times that it's all memorized now and Vanaduke has been done so often that it's even less than a chore to beat him anymore. PvP has lost all its competitive viability since there are only a handful of threats anymore. The only reason old school players even still exist is because of the comradery they have. Lose those friends and then tell me if these diehard players would actually continue playing Spiral Knights.

I don't mean to be a hater, but it's true. OOO can only save their game with something drastic and immense. The game is dying, it can even be considered dead by some. I used to love this game, I still do to some extent, but this is the reality. If they can make people such as myself eat their words, I would happily welcome it, but considering their recent history of 'updating' the game, I just can't see it happening.

Anyways, to address the OP directly, I would want the following:

- Brand new stages with brand new enemies with brand new hazards. Content such that nothing we encounter is anything we've ever seen before. We've killed everything else enough to know the ropes and we don't need more of that. At least enough stages and a high enough difficulty ceiling that could keep players around for a while as 3-6 stages would only hold our attention for a day, tops.

- A brand new weapon type that actually does something different. This could add a totally new dynamic to the game that would/could attract old players to come back imo. It'd be a good thing to help make the game worth playing again as well, as most people who have been here long enough already have a mastery of all the items that currently exist.

Sorry for ranting. I had the urge to vent. :/

You'd probably need a miracle to get everyone to come back. Something in the form of Spiral Knights 2.

As someone with over 4k hours in the game, there is no update that can reignite the fun that the game once held for me short of a complete overhaul. Most of SK's current issues came out of bad planning in the beginning, which led to balancing issues, and bad decisions over the years. It needs to figure out how to keep both the players happy, and the staff in work. It needs to be built from the ground up again to become a game that is more sustainable, more appealing, and future-proof--nothing like it is now. The issues everyone hate can't be solved with any one update. "New content" are only attempts to patch up the mess for a little while. But nothing that can be done to what it is at the moment will last in the long run.

This might be stupid.

Now, I'm still playing the game, but I'm getting really bored with it. A thing I'd really enjoy would be something like "Stances" for weapons, mostly swords as I can only imagine them on swords. These would include new combos with different animations (and maybe timings for hits) with different pros and cons for each. (Also, I'd love an Iaido stance for the Acheron! )

Well let's see

Being a suggestion's forum dweller, this being here sorta irks me but I know why it's here.

I sorta dislike massive things like this because they don't harbor discussion over in this subforum over a specific thing, but hey, I'll roll with it. I dunno if a GM moved it over here or not.

Anywho, I'm still very active in the game so that's a thing, and there are several things that can be done to make it less stale. I'm a boring person anyways so I still have fun doing the same things over and over but I recognize that many other people can't stand that.

  • What we need is a progressional custom level creator. I'll admit the post over there isn't 100% what it could be, however it gets the specific idea out.
  • Another, as Hexzyle posted, is a plethora of new enemies. Doing this would make levels have less cross-enemies in them (i.e., gremlins and constructs showing up as beast elites, trojans showing up as gremlin brutes) while also making each level seem new. In the process of doing this however this means that specialized levels (decon zones, wolver den, devilish drudgeries) should be made rarer, or in general other forms of them should be created per monster.
  • Something nice would also be missions to be a bit more varied. More missions is neat and all, but what if you had to return to tier 2 or tier 1 as a champion? It would make fights even harder since monsters could eventually have tier 2 or 3 defenses, however our gear is only powered to act like tier 1 or 2. Think - danger rooms as entire levels. These missions might even have nice payouts and allow vanguards a place to grind for lower star orbs of alchemy, eh?
  • Give prestige something to do - Perhaps different types of rewards for collecting X amounts. Special recipes (orb downcrafting recipes?), UV tickets, accessories... Prestige is the only real "level" our knights have, so giving it a purpose would be wonderful.
  • A horde mode in the core - I really believe this is how we should make the core a thing. Arcade only - once you reach the core you descend into it and have an endless fight with waves of enemies, a random boss after every X waves, with enemies slowly and ever so slightly becoming more powerful until you either all go down or retreat during the eye of the storm (AKA, after a boss round). Loot could be randomized entirely, so you might fight a 1* orb and a 5* orb next to each other, and even get cracked fire crystals and shinings next to a radiant. Tier 1 and tier 3 health capsules could spawn, all this. Enemies from every tier would be flying at you, and every wave you'd get about 2 + (wave number) of treasure boxes. Wave 30? 32 boxes. Wave 7? 9.
  • Lastly for now, we need an incentive to want to log in every day. In the past it was mist, right now it's battle sprites, however you aren't really "wasting" your sprite's appetite by not logging in every day. Perhaps we could have something where each consecutive day you complete the daily prestige mission you get 1 fire crystal of your rank? After 3 days it ups to 2, after 3 more it ups to 3 a day until you can't log in. So every day you log in and complete the prestige mission, you'd get rewarded your fire crystals! Alternatively just have the mission itself always reward 3 fire crystals and danger missions reward like, 12-15. That would get players into the clockworks.

Again, these are all things that can be done to bring players back, some better than others. Having more levels like the unknown passage is good. Event levels are okay but should be around more frequently and be less of a big thing (cycling tortos, kats, and apocrea every week would be good. Would also make the illusion of more updates and allow for stealth updates to be more frequent as well. Makes grinding events less of a requirement and more fun).

I was on a hiatus, but I did

I was on a hiatus, but I did get some CE to support OOO since I think they could use it

For suggestions, I would say reducing the benefit that damage bonuses do (perhaps 3-5% increase instead, vs the current 7%. I know this because callahan does 220 damage at 6 points, compared to 154 at none, which is 42% increase).

In order of preference:

That would reduce OPness of BKC and Chaos, which would be kind of cool for both LD and PvE.

Also, removing AT from lockdown only would be nice, since only competitive people play LD nowadays mostly (though when it first came out it was absolutely epic. Nobody remembers, but I used to use a troika in T2, with salamander armor, and killed duskers with flourishes. Awesome times in T3 as well, with dread skellies runnib around gettibg killed by dread venom strikers)

Lastly, I think adding missions to expand the story would be great. I am sure they are working on it, but more levels that look like the starry night skime levels would be sweet, especially with sleep.

I really have nothing bad to say about this game, since I have played for an embarrassingly long amount of time. Though perhaps playing during finals was not the best idea...

Damage bonus is 4% per level, you're not accounting for defence. Try to measure the damage boost with really powerful attacks like the callahan charge and rocket hammer charges. I have charts.

HE AIN'T DONE NOTHING WRONG!!!

FREE ELEVATORS!

But realistically,

Two ideas come to mind.

Create a guild alliance system (of some sort), allowing alliance members the opportunities that the founding guild members have within the guild themselves (which is not much now a days).

Also a means to create clockworks levels that are only accessible through the guilds alone would be a great addition. If there is progression from one floor to the next, the number of floors ought to be equal to the number of floors within a guild itself. Purchase existing, customizable, or personal (created from your character at that time) NPCs to either rescue, fight along side or against. Progression from one floor to the next ought to be equal to the amount of loot acquired per floor. Either that or have an automated system that charges per entry for anyone wishing to enter. And similar to the hubs in Emberlight and Moorcroft, let one person click on a scrollable list of names where they can open the invitation to join. The first three people to join that person along the list of invites automatically joins that player but also comes out of pocket the fee agreed upon.

I had these ideas better written out somewhere. But these are very rough in recollection.

i agree with leek, fangel, and arelic.

the guilds/guild halls need more use. i mean as of now, they are just a crown sink for furniture and sitting around doing nothing all day in. chatting = xp waste (oh wait xp is in runescape..)

from another thread, i think by fezhor, OOO should add a lab into the guild halls, where you can capture monsters, raise them, and then let them roam your guild like snipes. (makes more sense if you read the thread)

adding mini games would be cool as well. i mean in club penguin, i played that sled racing game for hours and it was as simple as don't hit the huge f**king trees and you win. i know we already have LD and BN, but LD is horribly unbalanced and BN is horribly inactive, and frankly, just a worse version of bomber man that i could play on omgpop if i wanted.

i like the hordes idea by fangel also. possibly a mini game idea. see how long you can survive, at the end of the horde you get a payout directly related to your progress in the waves. waves would be numbered and each would be constant for everyone, meaning for me and for fangel, wave 1 would have 4 slags and 2 spookats and then it would be wave 2. there could even be records for this. see who can get the farthest in them. of course there would only be 1 life per player. in addition, players would be stuck wight the same gear throughout the entire horde, but the monster types would change and the theme (i.e. fire, ice, shock) would change as well. this would add a challenge to the game. and the more people in your party, the more difficult and more carried the monsters would be (not just more health, but more damage and more status)

but as leek said: trying to save the game with updates is futile. it needs a total revamp. however, to reply to the op's question, i think the above ^ would keep me interested.
