Hello everyone!

I played Spiral Knights a longggg time ago ... so long ago that I don't exactly remember how long ago! And now I'm wanting to check it back out again!

I definitely remember having a battle sprite (that angel cat is just too cute to forget).

Would y'all be so kind as to enlighten me the major game/community changes that've happened since the battle sprite update, in as much detail as y'all are willing to give? New content, new items, the-sickest-new-farming-strat-that-takes-exactly-this-kind-of-micro-managing-attention-to-detail-to-perform, etc... :)

*hugs the reader* :)

So you've played sometime since the battle sprite update, which was 2013-07-30. You might want to read Release/all, although it's not being updated anymore. Here are the high points:

2014-12-03 we got the "gunner update", with a bunch of new guns (mostly variations on old guns) and gunner armors (all variations on one idea).

2015-02-18 we got some new rank missions.

2015-05-13 we got some more new rank missions. Dreams and Nightmares is the key place to farm Radiant Fire Crystals.

2016-04 Grey Havens took control of the game from Sega/Three Rings. This is when Release/all stopped being updated.

2017-07 we got the "sleep update", with some new equipment, levels, monsters, etc.

So you can see that we've had some new content, but not much. If you don't get hung up on that, the game is as fun as ever. Welcome back.

holy bajeezus

Bopp you still play this game? Dang xD Glad to see the best parts of a game don't change <3 I've been rereading your Swords guide to see if there's been any major changes to the playstyle :P Thanks for the response

swords

There haven't been any big developments in swords. A few swords have been added, but they're weak (Amputator) or promotion-only (Celestial Saber) or reskins. That's okay, because the original game design got the basic sword concepts right (although not the balance).

The big weapon developments have all been in guns. Guns have taken over some of swords' heavy-damage role. For example, some players say that the retooled Magnus-line guns (Iron Slug, Callahan, Winter Grave) are basically Brandishes but better.

Yep, I'm still here, although I play less than I did in 2013 (which is less than I played in 2011). Cheers.
