Are we all just really, really pleased that 2020 is nearly over? I have been really looking forward to having this year done, while at the same time wondering how on earth I'm going to get everything done before Impostclaws comes visiting. A few years ago I asked for the SK community's help with inspiration when it came to make the Christmas Ornament I try to make every year. This year, I'm in need of inspiration again, but with a 2020 twist!

Your task is to make a holiday ornament that can be hung on a tree. The ornament you create must relate in some way to Spiral Knights. How you make your ornament is completely up to you - you can mold it, glue it, sew it, fold it, knit it, weave it...I really don't care how you make it! HOWEVER (here comes the twist!) you can only make it out of toilet paper. Yes, you read that right. You have to use some of your precious hoard of toilet paper to enter this event! You will also need to be able to hang it (or drape it!) on a Christmas tree (or tree substitute if you don't have one handy!).

I will allow the use of embellishments (glitter for example, or a splash of color with some pen or paint), but the ornament itself must be made from toilet paper.

===H===

What to do!
- Create a real life ornament to celebrate your frilling..um..THRILLING 2020 year with Spiral Knights
- Link to a photo of the materials with ID card showing your SK name and date
- Link to an in-progress picture with ID card showing your SK name and date
- Link to the finished piece with ID card showing your SK name and date
- Link to the finished piece without ID showing it dangling from something festive (I have it on good authority that door knobs can be festive if you don't have a handy tree).

Yatez
what the rules on creating

what the rules on creating paper mache using the toilet paper?

Yatez
also if you do win the first

also if you do win the first prize, are you able to choose one of the runner up prizes? (those items are better)

Lol ikr it's tricky because you have to win 2nd place to get the good prize... I might actually do this tho. IDK.

All of the questions!

"what the rules on creating paper mache using the toilet paper?"

If you are using toilet paper as the main 'ingredient' in the construction, I would call that ok; at the end of the day I don't want many rolls of toilet paper presented as ornaments! In the same way as you could staple the paper for form a shape, I'd accept the use of glue with toilet paper to create a shape.

"also if you do win the first prize, are you able to choose one of the runner up prizes?"

Eeeek! What is wrong with the twinkle?!! I have no objections at all to players stating that they would prefer a certain listed prize instead of the aura should they win.

More questions!

If you have questions, please ask them here rather than via other methods; if you don't know the answer, then others likely don't either!

"can I use the cardboard rolls from toilet the toilet paper roll?"

No. Toilet paper = paper only. No using cardboard rolls!

Yatez
If you change the twinke aura

If you change the twinke aura to twilight however...

"Eeeek! What is wrong with the twinkle?!! I have no objections at all to players stating that they would prefer a certain listed prize instead of the aura should they win."

There's nothing wrong with Twinkle Aura....it's just one of the worst auras in the game and sought-after by almost no one. The runner-up prizes are worth a decent amount and are (no offense) more interesting.

-Divine Halo (worth slightly more and is far more noticeable)
-Polar Halo (rare and expensive)
-Divine Pom Pom Snow Hat (one-of-a-kind?)
-Dusker Slippers (rare and expensive)
-Green Flying Snipe (one-of-a-kind)

I do agree with that Yatez that a Twilight Aura would be a far better prize for 1st place... but then again it won't really be Winterfest-y...
How about a Polar Leafy Aura or Permafrost Aura instead?

Ahem

Why on God's purple earth would one of the prizes be a GREEN flying snipe!? It could've been any colour, even PURPLE, but green? That colour seems awfully too similar to lime...
Have you finally yielded to Cronus!? This is heresy!

^^;

My oh my, everyone is quite fussy about rewards it seems. At this rate the tutorial will need a "basic manners" section.
Sorry about them Hera & thank you for hosting this contest. Good luck everyone!

Question:

Does the ring or hook used to hang it have to be made out of toilet paper as well? Or can other materials be used for that?

i posted before the deadline

i posted before the deadline but i edited my post and it changed the timestamp lajdlakd hope it's ok x(

Radiant-Heart
Got worried when I saw forum time at submission...

Luckily the forums seem to not account for daylight savings time (well, the lack thereof) for some reason, and are stuck at GMT-7, rather than GMT-8 that it should be right now.

It may have been down to the wire, but I converted the deadline prior, from EST to PST so knew I had just enough time for some finishing touches.

Winners Announced!

Once again, y'all have not made judging a contest easy for me; there were so many fine ideas for tree decorations and I'd be happy to decorate my house with each and every one - there would be no putting them away at the end of the holidays! I enjoyed how each ornament was constructed; there were many excellent ideas for using your precious toilet paper, and I hope y'all had as much enjoyment making them as I did looking at how you did it.

The winner, getting their choice of prize is Fighting-Polygon (and I get to keep the Twinkle Aura, huzzah!)

Runners up also getting their choice of prizes in no particular order are: Electroburst, Night-Of-Zero and Legobuild

Congratulations!

Every entry will also be receiving a bunch of purple fireworks which you can use to greet the new year, (or keep!).

Prizes will be delivered shortly.

Thank you again to everyone who entered and I hope y'all have a safe and happy new year!

Congratulations to the winners!
Thank you for this fun and cute event, Hera. Have fun with the twinkle aura, haha

Have fun everyone with the prizes and the fireworks!
And of course, stay safe c:

Really?

Can someone explain how Legobuild won? Looking at the entries there are plenty that evidently took a lot more effort and creativity like genieiskewl or maerry's , its pretty obvious devs have been riding Legos d since the beginning of the game but really? Has he not gain enough from the devs that they have to take from the community and give to him? I didn't even submit anything and this baffles me. Fix your stuff Grey Havens, aside from the fact that there is no transparency for any form of updates or progress in the game, even something as simple as a community giveaway you find a way to ruin.

@Guardianof-Hell

It's a kids art contest, relax.

Also Legobuild got runner up, he clearly didn't win. Lastly, all entries look similar in effort, no one slacked off.

You didn't even look at my entry did you?

At least I can still use my ornament for wiping..

Exactly it’s a kids giveaway and yet they still choose to bless their adult friends over the CHILDREN that play this game. And my point isn’t solely about the giveaway it’s about giving Lego inside information about upcoming events and items being released and constantly giving him a special treatment over others, and this issues simply exacerbates my point.. Sure it’s just a game but everyone who plays it hopes that one day it’ll evolve into what it should be, with actual professional devs which clearly they are not. This is far from the first time Lego has been given special treatment, it’s gross and pollutes the purity of the game and the community. If this game was bigger people would be outraged but sadly it’s not and this is one of the thousands of reasons why. But the main reason this game fails is simply because of the devs, but they will never admit or acknowledge that because their friends are happy and they’re making money.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I did spend a fair amount of time on my entry and was pleased to see it was selected as a runner up, I knew I probably wouldn't 'win' with other better artists/creators about the community.

As for the allegations you're mentioning about me getting special treatment and future knowledge about upcoming things, that's false, and I'm not sure where you get your information from, but you might want to recheck it.
