Trying to plan ahead for Tier 3
So my main issue is that I use the Arc Razor right now and it seems like once I upgrade it into the Winmillion I'm going ot have some issues, especially with Wolvers. Apart from that I hear a lot of people saying that Elemental defense is big for Tier 3 which makes me unsure of which way to go with my armor. I'm currently set up with:
Salamander Mask
Dark Thorn Shield
Chroma Suit
Arc Razor
Firotech Alchemer MK II
My main dillemma is what to do with the Chroma Suit, do I upgrade it to become a Virulisk Suit or a Salamander Suit? The former protecting from piercing while the latter protects from elemental. I have about 130 Primal tokens so would buying the pierce protecting pendants be a good thing to do to allow me to focus on elemental damage with the Salamander gear?
For the sword, if advised to switch it out, I was thinking about the Snarble Barb line since I like faster swords and it has the same speed as the Spur series. I think I'd probably enjoy the Flamberge as well after looking at it. I like the Fire status a lot but if it needs to be charged to inflict it then I'm not too interested. Would one of the other 2 lines of the Flourish be better to have? And between Dark Thorn Blade and Final Flourish which would be better, both have the same stats so it'd be reliant on the charge attack's usage.
Finally should I stick with the Firotech series? Like I said before I like the Fire status but if I go with the Flamberge I could always use it to inflict Fire. I've been looking at Antigua for a while, unsure on if I want to buy it or not, I don't think I've seen any players actually use it which turns me off of it a bit though at the current moment, while Arc Razor is equipped, it'd give me piercing damage to go on in addition to the elemental damage that Firotech was already giving me.
So to sum it up: Salamander Set, Virulisk Set, or a mixed set? Keep the Arc Razor and upgrade it into the Winmillion or switch it to the Snarble Barb/Flourish? Keep the Firotech Alchemer or switch to Antigua? I don't really have the money to spend on this game which is why I want to set everything in stone before doing anything so thanks very much on your inputs.
Yeah I love the look of all the Chroma items except the Chroma Mask (I hate the tongue sticking out) Salamander sounds good since I'd be fine with either of them really. And yeah, initially what turned me off from Virulisk was the Poison resist which I find a bit useless. Plus, like I said, I've got plenty of Primal Sparks to buy Jelly Bands with which could give me my piercing defense.
So do you think the Winmillion is alright or should I swap it for the Flourish line/Snarble Barb? I mean I love the Arc Razor but those projectiles from the Winmillion may annoy me and it currently only reaches 4* also whats your input on the charge attacks? I don't know if the Flourish line's charge attacks differ at all but between a Flourish and the Snarble Barb which do you like better? And if I do choose a piercing weapon at least I have Chroma items for the Jelly damage increase. Plus I'd probably only be fighting many Jellies on a JK run so I'd still have the Winmillion as a backup weapon to kick ass there.
I never knew that Shock did damage I thought it was only capable of spreading, thats pretty cool though. I do love my Firotech though, plus now it looks like I may be all Salamander themed lol if anything I can just keep the Firotech then choose a weapon that isn't the Flamberge, although there's not necassarily any harm in using both.
There's a good discussion on Winmillion over here. I especially like Patchumz's thoughts on the sword:
> The projectiles on striking are extremely nice on non-dodging enemies, but on dodging enemies you'll wanna kill kittens.
The Flourish charge attacks are a matter of personal preference. I started off with a Final Flourish, so I really like that charge attack better. It is multiple high damage hits followed by a coup de grace. It works best on a single large target like a Trojan, Alpha Wolver, or Pit Boss. The Barb Thorn Blade, on the other hand, is a single swipe with a fan of low damage projectiles - more useful for many targets like a group of devilites or wolvers.
The FF charge launches you forward, whereas the Barb Thorn charge will cause you to step back - so in a way, the FF is more offensive and the Barb Thorn is more defensively minded.
Ah yes I read that topic earlier today which only supports that I should probably switch out my current Sword for another one, especially since I use Guns as my backup which will be just as useful as a Winmillion against dodging enemies. There's always the option of switching into a bomb like the Shivermist especially with its extremely low cost to find a UV you need. With that going off I can swipe and every time they get hit they'll be frozen again.
All of the piercing weapons sound really cool, I'll probably pick one up if I ever decide on which one I like best. For some reason I don't think I've ever seen a Final Flourish line's recipes, I definitely remember Rigadoon and Flamberge, even Snarble Barb. Thanks again for the great input.
On your armor - the Chroma-line is a really cool look, nice choice. Between Virulisk Suit or a Salamander Suit, I would have to recommend Salamander Suit for several reasons... Normal/Elemental will be more useful in T3 than Normal/Piercing. Going full Normal/Elemental is definitely not necessary, it'll just make things a bit easier. Fire resistance is going to save the day, resisting Poison will not - one rarely dies from being Poisoned after all. The matching Volcanic Salamander Set is going to be hot (no pun intended.)
However, if you really want to have more varied defenses, there is nothing wrong with doing a mixed set. This mixed set is quite viable.
I'm a fan of the entire Flourish line - I have the FF, Barbarous Thorn Blade and the Fearless Rigadoon. Nothing tears through Trojans, Wings, Greavers or Wolvers better. It does nice work on Zombies, Kats, Gremlins and Menders too... just don't use it on Constructs or Jellies their Piercing resistance makes it useless on them. You'l either want to pack a normal, elemental or shadow weapon to deal with Constructs and Jellies.
Flamberge should have a slight chance to inflict fire on regular swipes. It is a pretty low chance though, I wouldn't count on it. If I'm killing a Trojan with my Fearless Rigadoon, about 1/2 of the time it'll get stunned at some point along the way. So maybe a 1 in 20 chance per hit. The chance of setting fires with the Flamberge would probably be similar.
The Voltech is preferred over the Firotech since shock does some damage and disrupts mobs. Both are strong choices though. If you really like to see things burn, stick with the Firotech :D
