How am I supposed to gear up?

Guys , I have a terrible doubt here:

Some levels are like this:

1st floor - Ice Arena;
2nd floor - Poison Arena;
3rd floor - Ghosts and Jellos;
4th floor - Fire arena;
5th floor - Change your clothes and buy recipes;
6th floor - More ghosts and jellos;
7th floor - Something entirely different for which you havent been prepared at all...

Is there a kind of combination that can provide you protection against EVERYTHING?
If not, how can I change clothes between floors (like changing my ice-resistant to fire-resistant b4 they burn my bottoms to hell!) ?
Returning to haven and being invited back is quite expensive (on heat, and CE).

Thanks!

You dont need protection

You dont need protection against everything.

The idea is not to get hit. The hardest things to not get hit by is office furniture and certain gunpuppy configurations. So really, protection against fiends and gunpuppies is important.

Of all the statuses, the one that can ruin your day most is fire, so if you do mess up and get hit, fire is what you want to not catch on.

So basically:

Get decent normal and elemental defense since the things that you can not easily dodge are one or both of these
Get fire status resist
Have a plan to deal with fiends (My plan is named Flourish)
Cary at least two damage types

You are good to go

Hnmm...

You can change your gear at the terminal, so you never have to worry about 7 or more different floors.
Ice and Fire are both elemental damage so this is not really a problem.
If you're facing undead and slimes together, bring elemental or normal damage, or else bring -both- piercing and shadow damage.

Shock is just as bad as fire, it still makes you stop moving and drop your shield which can hurt way more than a tick of fire.
