Shiving Trojans
I'm basically aiming to solo as much of T3 as possible, and I have a lot of trouble with Trojans. One in a room, I can generally handle. If there's 2 though, I have a very hard time. It gives me little window of opportunity to do damage. Especially when there's less space due to traps. So what I want to know, is how much easier will this make Trojans? Does the freeze from Shivermist last long enough for me to do a little damage with a sword?
Shivermist will help you control every other mob that spawns with them so it's not really a bad choice, just not specifically good against trojans. Shivermist only works against trojans if their back is facing toward the center of the bomb explosion and even then it's a chance, not a guarantee. If you want to kill trojans, the best way to do it is to learn the various ranges that will trigger their attacks, then exploit their predictability.
Basically their triggers are:
Close - power-up knockback
Mid - sword swing
Far - charge attack
Usually you want them to swing their sword since it's the attack that gives you the largest window to strike, but there are times you want them to do other things as well.
Alright, thanks for the responses. The main issue I've always had, is getting a hit off on one, before the other one smacks me. Which freezing would help with, since it will make both face the some direction.
You can use a Blast Bomb, Crystal Bomb, or Spine Cone, plant it in front of them, then circle around so they're facing away from it when it detonates.
This is probably not as effective as the ice bomb method, though.

I wonder if the Catalyzer will damage Trojans if the attached charge is behind them, and whether the charge shot will stick to them if it hits the front...

- Charges only stick from the back.
- Hitting the trojan from any side will trigger the explosion, I think.
- The charges are where the explosion begin from, so unfortunately, only charges behind the trojan will do damage.
You're probably better off setting up an enemy with charges, pushing it behind the trojan, and detonating it while you get the trojan to face you. It's kind of the trick that bombers do with bombs, except your bombs are your enemies lol.
If believe the statement below regarding Freezing Trojans is False

You just need to use a Stat bomb within range of a Trojan. Then walk around so that the Trojan is "facing away from the middle of the Haze".
I've done this Countless times solo in T2. Unless I am mistaken, the Status application mechanic should be the same as in T3.
Freeze generally gives you enough time to charge your weapon and unleash it which is a great way to deal with Trojans. Dealing with two trojans is tricky though because they only get frozen if the mist is facing their back (the center of the mist) which means that you might not always be able to freeze both at the same time. It is definitely easier than without ice though.
