Fullscreen and changing resolution exits the client

Since my resolution is smaller, I try to play Spiral Knights in fullscreen.
Fullscreen will exit my client.
EDIT: Actually, attempting to change resolutions in the client will also exit the client. D:

1366x768. The height is just at the minimal requirements. I happen to be using a laptop. I doubt it's the graphics card since I can play without lagging. I'm trying to go full screen with the client's Display Mode at 1024x768x32.
I've even tried changing the resolution at the login screen and tried all four options, but my client will still quit. So yes, no matter what resolution I choose, the client will always exit.

I would still recommend
I would still recommend updating the video driver, as it could be related to how it handles switching modes.
For a laptop you'll want to find out which model name it is, then head to the laptop manufacturer's site to find the latest one.

Having the same problem on my
Having the same problem on my laptop, and I can definitively say it's not a video driver problem.
As a workaround, is there a config file we can manually edit the resolution in?

5. Are you getting a black screen/a malfunctioning full-screen/bad resolution?
You will need to try and set Spiral Knights to its minimum display settings:
1. Close Spiral Knights (if it's running).
2. Click on the 'Start' menu and then click on 'Run'.
3. Type in "regedit" and hit 'OK': this will bring up the Registry Editor. Warning: Please do not change anything else in the registry since it could cause severe problems.
4. Browse through the registry tree and expand to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\projectx'
5. Double-click each of the below registry keys (if present) and type in the corresponding value:
a. display_mode = 1024, 600, 32, 60
b. fullscreen = false
c. render_quality = /L/O/W
d. vsync_enabled = false
6. Close the Registry Editor and start Spiral Knights.
Don't change anything, but put true for fullscreen. If it won't start after the change, switch it back to how it was before you changed it.

I just updated the game on my desktop and now I have the issue where I can't use windowed mode. Works well on my laptop though. zzz...
What is your native resolution, and which resolution are you trying to go full screen in?
If you close the game and start it again, will it always exit the client when trying any resolutions?
