This happens to me too. I'm playing and suddenly the gamepad restarts itself, I can tell because of a light that turns off. It's a new gamepad so it doesn't have damaged cord issues and it works fine in any other game.

Unfortunately not. The game only enumerates input devices on launch, and holds the mapping somewhere in memory. If you check the projectx.log, it might gives some clues to why its being dropped, but the red light sounds like the pad is reinitializing.
