I've been having this problem once in a while that once I use one of the items at the top of my screen (i.e. a capsule to stun something), whenever I try to type to another player, the only thing that comes up is that number, for as long as it can. If I don't press enter, it just keeps going on forever. It's really hard when I need to communicate to get something done.

Just now when I was playing, it wore off, but it took around 30 minutes for it to go away. I tried sending a bug report while in-game, but the same thing with the numbers happened.

What is going on?

The issue comes up

The issue comes up infrequently on Linux distros, and I vaguely remember someone mentioning having to hold the shift key for a few seconds to break it out of the pattern. Not sure if this will work for you, but its worth a shot.
