Mechromancers, a new enemy

i was thinking spider-like med-bots. they would come in a pair. they would hop on an ally and heal them a few times then hop off and go to another damaged ally, if there are no other damaged friendlies they will hop back on and heal some more. they can buff allies armor. can raise dead constructs once. if there is a dead construct nearby one will hop off and start repairs. the one still healing will heal 1/2 as much. reconstructs will have less base health. if it seems op maybe it can take 2 to makes one. 2 bots can never build same reconstructs.

what do you think? things can change if they must but i want to know if this is a good idea that could work. i know i don't have any numbers but i don't think i would be good with that so i would like someone to help with that.

edit: forgot one thing, since they will be vulnerable while healing i was thinking they take 1/2 damage when they are on an ally.

I'm going to make some changes. 2 bots with designated jobs, buff/build-bot and heal-bot. I think this will help make them be more interesting. They would work faster together. I was thinking the buff/build-bot would give a 10%(15% for constructs) damage reduction to allies that would take 4 seconds together and 7 apart. Reconstructing would take 5 seconds to make together and 8 apart. Heal-bot won't leave buff/build-bot until he is finished buffing/building. Heal-bot would heal less without buff/build-bot.

When one bot dies the other goes to it and adds it to itself for 2 seconds and get higher base health. When heal-bot gets absorbed buff/build bot will gain a lesser healing ability. It will heal slower and for less health while buffing. When buff/build-bot gets absorbed heal-bot will gain a lesser buffing/building ability. Buffing time is increased to 8 seconds and building time is increased to 9 seconds.

Tell me if some things don't seem balanced.

@Dukeplatypus, Why shouldn't these constructs be able to heal other constructs? Gremlin menders and Silkwings already heal their allies. As for pets, I have no idea where you got that.

"if there is a dead construct nearby one will hop off and start repairs."

Pretty sure he's suggestin' a healing pet for the ENEMIES. Which makes this enemy some weird Silkwing/Dreadnaught crossover thing.

I'd up for it!

Since the name got stuck on my head, rather than "spider-like med-bots" (wich sound like a reskinned shufflebot) why don't we ripp-off the Constructor W4R-D3N from Borderlands 2? Or a claptrap.

but that is the way they are supposed to look, small spider-like things that crawl on allies and closing wounds and what not. i was thinking that when they are around constructs die in a scrap heap and for things that need more parts to be balanced they could use web like wire to get the piles to them.

Gremlin healers and Silkwings

Gremlin healers and Silkwings can heal any enemy (or, at least, I think so; all I remember is Silkwings can heal Trojans), so making a bot that can only heal constructs seems a bit unfair.

Possibly give them the ability to heal anything, but only resurrect constructs?

Silkwings heal Lumbers, Gremlins heal wolvers.
Cross family healing there though.

so then

yes i have always wanted this. a contruct resurect type of healer. so far the only monster taht can be resurected is the gremlins. if this goes into play, it willl be a whole new ball game in contruct/gremlin arenas when this monster is combined with a gemlin healer. hope someone can come up with some stats, it would give the idea more substance.

Hmmmmm

Reconstruction Zones!:

Junkyards where broken mechs are deposited and you have to race around the area killing all the mechromancers before the revived mechs kill you.

But seriously +1

+1 Reviving constructs certainly makes more sense than gremlins.

I think a Gremlin 'Tinkerer' would make more fluff sense, but to contribute to the current idea...you could have themed rooms with destroyable piles of scraps that the mechromancer could mash together into constructs.

@Autofire what does that have to do with this thread?

i like where this is going. i'm not gonna give stats, you can if you want, because i don't think i would do well and because it's the ideas that get implemented, not a bunch of stats and statistics. Developers will change stats as needed but can't really change a concept.

Well, no

where I was going was with the healing. Healing is very very very very very....*10 years later*...very very very OP when you don't severely limit it. By letting you just get healed like crazy, you will turn any shabby knight who lets every knocker hit him become a super hero. :P

That thread had a large amount of limits to pets, including healing. This suggestion sounds a lot like pets, unless you mean they are used like mechaknights. The reconstruct thing is an interesting idea but then you are given a problem: this only works on constructs. That means that constructs are going to be a bit easier. If there is a way to make this somehow go for ALL enemies, then it would be more fair, but then it would be OP too. It's a difficult situation...

If you want I could try to adapt this idea to my pet thread, but if you decline, I won't do anything of the sorts. (Don't worry! If I did that I'd be stealing your idea. :P)

I think it could easily be

I think it could easily be interpreted as being a pet. Just make a big title saying: NEW ENEMY IDEA

On topic, sounds pretty good. We could use a healer weak to elemental.

+1 to this idea

I think you need to change the title, as a whole bunch of people seem to think its about pets. Change it to "Mechromancers (New monster)"

EDIT: Ninja'd, like a bazillion times. I should probably refresh my page after I come home from work BEFORE posting XD

@Lord-Asura No i don't. Having 2 healers is ridiculous when there are 6 classes of enemies and 3 types of damages. A third healer would fit right in.

Actually, we could do with more beast monsters. There are already enough types of constructs around... but I'm all for the extra variety of stuff to beat up/get messily murdered by. +1

@Severage the idea came from

@Severage the idea came from the name, i had just written about necroing gremlins and was thinking how it would be cool if there were constructs that could raise constructs, what else would you call those? the name might not fit what they have become now but at the time it was something that made sense.

@Aureate ya we need a more competent beast.

@Tuhui:

Sure, Mechromancers is creative and original, except it's already in use by another game.

You could call it anything, really. Cybermenders, Reassemblers, heck, Repair Drones. There are plenty of names for something like that.

The name does not really matter, but i don't need to think of a new name, if the developers are actually making this they have already thought of this and are resolving this. It fit the enemy and was creative as you said but honestly I'd rather have this concept in the game than my exact idea. This is only a base to start off and i know this.

i was

i was wondering if the mechromancers have a way for it to shield itself while it is walking alone and not healing anyone. I want it to be able to defend itself like how the gremlin healer in tier 3 can summon a shield to protect itself fro attacks. so i am suggesting that it has an area shock pulse when it is under attack. the area that the pulse will affect would look very similar to the area gremlin use their shield. the function of the pulse would be very similar to how trojans use there area nockback except, it will not cause anydamge but will inflict shock plus the pushback. this pulse defensive skill would only activate after it gets attacked. it will take 1 to 2 seconds for it to charge it, then it would unleash it on anyplayer that is currently near it. anyplayer hit by it gets great pushback similar to a trojan pushback, and the shock status.

The problem with that is that i don't think devs want attacking healers. The silkwings don't have any defense either. In place of a defense I added some other stuff to try to balance it.

well

the slikwing also should have a defense. Just like the gremlin healer has a shield (defensive ability) all healers should have one. so its not attacking because it doesn't do any damage and it only activates it after it gets attacked. the shock is only a side effect just like some robo knight spazz out in shock. so why not have it?

How about they start off with

How about they start off with a natural 15% damage reduction? Shock is just way too powerful. It makes you unable to do things for enough time to turn a good situation into a situation where you can't escape especially with mech knights around.

If irony only exists in literature then what is this?

I know necroing is taboo here(or was when i was still here) but i honestly think this idea would be a good addition to the game. Lets get some support for this, if you dislike give some reasons and try to make the idea better, if you like still try to make the idea better. Nothing is perfect and there is always room for improvement/change.

A neat idea, but questionably healthy.

I appreciate the pun and I like the idea of a wider variety of healers in the game, but design-wise I'm not sure this is it in terms of a healer from the construct family. Three Rings, in my opinion, has been relatively good at making each enemy feel different from the rest. Menders have target-based burst heals and Silkwings have proximity-based heal-per-second. What Mechromancers have sounds like...target-based heal-per-second. Presumably with Mender-like resurrection at all tiers -and- buffing at all tiers. While I appreciate that your spider drones are visually distinct, combat against them just sounds like a more frustrating version of normal combat. Counterplay for Menders has you take them out first or poison everyone else. Counterplay for Silkwings is to take them out first, or keep them separated from everyone else. Counterplay for Mechromancers is to... take out some dude so that one of the 'Mancers will deal with that dude, then take out whichever dude the other one happens to be attached to at the time, hopefully taking him out before it hops somewhere else, and then taking out the other half of the Mechromancer? Or, basically, a more complicated version of what you'ld usually be doing.

Oh snap!

Bro, that's an AMAZING idea! Also the mechanics seem pretty good too. So, i though of a name what about Mechaheal/Mechabuild.
