There are three (four) kinds of people in this game in regards to shard bombs.
-People that don't care about them, whether it be because they're not as good or because they don't know what they used to be.
-People that have given up on writing posts about shard bombs because in reality, it'll probably never happen.
-People who still haven't given up.
(-The people that still cry over the old Radiant Sun Shards.)
There are a lot...no there are a TON of posts regarding Shard Bombs discussing their usefulness and changes made to them.
In summary, shard bombs did not always split into many rocks that exploded after another fuse time. It used to shoot projectiles that did damage on contact. Due to it's powerful nature on close range enemies as well as it's design, OOO decided to change the Shard Bombs to what you see today. Now, the shard bomb has a lot of problems. I'm sure Zeddy can post his comment with MANY links discussing the problems you get with them. The two worst ones are that there's a hit limit on how many of the shards can hit one monster, and that when too close to walls, the shards will not spawn. (Thanks Zeddy.)
There are a lot of suggestions on how to adjust these bombs, some of them say to just revert them back. We're not here to discuss that.
These are my two proposals:
*Turn the shard bombs projectiles into Maskeraith needles that explode after a short time like the current bombs do.* This sounds unusual doesn't it?
The Maskeraith's needles fly and stick to the enemy on contact. Giving the shard bombs a projectile that can cross holes while keeping the delayed form of damage would be a nice in-between from what the shard bomb used to be compared to what it is today.
Or perhaps we can just make them *exactly like the Maskeraith's needles* and only give the initial bomb explosion damage. Even if we couldn't get direct damage out of it, giving it a projectile that can cross holes would be helpful. This kind of change would turn the Shard Bombs into a support bomb much like the Catalyzers are, giving them a new depth of strategy.
-In the end, no idea is perfect, and a lot of the pre-proposed suggestions I already agree with and support, but this is my take on the shard bomb, and I hope it could get some support, because if I had to settle for this if the shard bombs would get changed once more, I'd take it.
You forgot the 4th (fourth): People who are still crying their eyes out over the removal over the old Radiant Sun Shards.
But either way, I can see how this can work out
