Spiral Knights is a 3D adventure-roleplay MMO game produced by Three Rings, it revolves around a race of humanoids simply known as the knights who have crash-landed on a planet known as Cradle after their flagship, the Skylark, was shot out of orbit while passing by, this forces them to venture into a vast, mysterious system of miniature almost-worlds called the Clockworks which are populated with dozens of types of hostile monsters such as the sentient gremlins, vicious beasts, nightmarish undead and many more - the Knights' goal is to reach the Core, a huge source of power which could be their escape of the planet, if they could power the Skylark using it; and though many Knights have reached the gate to the Core, it is sealed with a mysterious power, denying entrance to all but a single, historic squad - who have never returned from it, and the Core has never opened since; and so the Knights are stranded for now, their only mission to collect weapons and armor with aid from the native Strangers who they have allied with, whom provide gear and support for the brave warriors; one such Stranger has ventured into the Clockworks and provide recipes for gear at each Terminal; a midpoint between levels of a Tier; a section of the twenty-nine current depths of the Clockworks - perhaps one day the Knights shall breach the core, revive the Skylark and return to Isora, their home planet.

One of the few skill based MMO dungeon crawlers in existence (akin to Legend of Zelda), with a learning curve that becomes so steep that it almost has a freakin' overhang before gradually sailing downward to somewhere around the 3rd circle of hell, and a community that varies from immature goofy fun to constant cynical whining.
