I think the main problem is lag. Lag really screws me up, and on some days when I really wanna play (like today) I can't play simply because of the servers. I took a ping test, and my router is fine. The potato powered servers are really annoying.
Say what your main problem with the game, and let's not argue about anything pvp related or else this will become a flame war.
What do YOU think the main problem with the game? (And no crap about the forge or radiants.)
If you think the main problem is lag, Move somewhere closer to California where the servers are held, or get better internet or graphics cards or memory.
The fact you don't get boss tokens if you're dead when they're handed out. I've been denied a Crest of Almire. I could have gotten a better shield if someone revived me before touching the big token. No. They had to be greedy.
I am talking about latency but my internet is great. My graphics card is crappy but I don't care about that.
The servers aren't actually in California just because Three Rings is. The US server is hosted in Virginia.
Main problem is lack on endgame content. Once you get there, youre stuck. Only thing to do is troll the noobs in lockdown with a hammer

Thinks that aa in lockdown is the problem heehee! Cuz most endgame players look to lockdown or uvs and costumes or learning to merch but mostly lockdown
Are you a troll, or do you have a hard time following directions?
Lag is SO DAMN ANNOYING.
@Rezzler Hammer is our only salvation to keep this game going. Hammer bros forever <3
"The US server is hosted in Virginia."
And I'm on the west coast having just the best frames and internet connection? Awesome!
LAg, not a problem, I am in pacific region and it is always one bar here, I just kinda adapted to the lag.
Hammer, meh, I hate OP gears, I HATE THEM! >:(
My problem with the game is how little content it actually offers, it is a bit like Diablo III, the core of the game is good, is it fun? Yes, but only last for about a few month but where as Diablo II lasted for almost TEN years while still having a fan base. I still remebered how some fan believes that Diablo III will last for ten years worth of play time and guess how it turned out, the game is still great, but there is nothing there for Blizzard to really seal the deal, the expansion is comming but how long is that going to help the franchise last?
I guess the reason why SK have such a short enjoyment period is due to the free elevator, now with people blowing through the campain mission in a matter of week when back then taking me two months to get all the stuff needed for FSC, OOO essentailly butchered its mid game and made ppl leave after they see the ugliness of the end game.
The free elevator+forge +crafting update didn't screw up the mid-game. Spiral Knights' progression curve has always been terrible.
The problem you're talking about has existed since release. It used to happen even earlier than mid-game, too. It would also happen after you do your first ten levels and run out of mist and ragequit after a rant about how free to play games are all terrible money-grubbing badly disguised scams. And you would only have kind of been wrong.
The main problem with this game is that it's stuck in a catch-22 where it doesn't have enough players to necessitate and support regular content updates and a strong community interaction team, but because it doesn't have those the playerbase isn't getting any bigger.
Actually, I wouldn't say the radiants/forge. Provided that they have some plan to fix them eventually-- and I suspect they do-- then those aren't such an issue. If they don't plan to fix it, the game won't have much of a chance at greatness. Revealing that the radiant issue is temporary (if it is) would be a really, really, nice idea toward keeping player morale high.
The real issue is that OOO cannot produce content fast enough to keep a playerbase going.
You get to the end of the game, and no matter how much you love the game, you have to leave because there isn't anything to do. They tried to fix this with danger missions and the likes, but its just not enough- the content that people play never gets any better, or any different, and new content doesn't come quickly enough to save it.
The solution that I have in mind is a level editor of course. No matter how expensive it is to produce time wise, it alone would be the biggest contribution that the developers could make. It would let the devs focus on producing other content/removing the lag without having players running out constantly, and that is what the game needs.
If you look above my post, you'll see others confirming this notion-
Klipik- "The main problem with this game is that it's stuck in a catch-22 where it doesn't have enough players to necessitate and support regular content updates and a strong community interaction team"
Midnight-DJ- "My problem with the game is how little content it actually offers"
Rezzler- "Main problem is lack on endgame content. Once you get there, youre stuck. Only thing to do is troll the noobs in lockdown with a hammer"
Llan- "And dwindling end game content."
----
The other big issues are lag and player-community interaction.
A while back after an update, many community members began discussing the new update prior to its release in general discussions. The support team did exactly what they were "supposed to"- they graveyarded all 20-30 threads. They had a good reason to graveyard them- several details of the update were missing from the players view and the threads were inaccurate+inflammatory, but the way they handled it was still incredibly poor. Players should never be punished for caring about and posting their views on the game.
Lag on the other hand is pretty self explanatory.
Aside from having a server that caters to your region (like how EU has its server so its players don't have to play 2 bars all the time), there's not much you can do about your latency.
Mine is stable and fine, but I live in the south east US.
It's fine for me and if I have any connection problems, it's due to my own network/ISP, so people who claim that "lag has gotten worse" etc are full of it.
The game (PVE) is also still playable with 2 bar connection. It's only when precision matters (trying to shoot down Howlitzers... or PVP) that latency issues become apparent.
Lack of variety in setpieces, missed opportunities, too much removed content that could be substitute for additional levels.
Once you've gone through the Clockworks enough time, every major setpiece kind of blends together, removing the sense of unpredictability and adventure that was meant to be the allure of the game.
Lizard Lounge is a fun little level, it's a shame it's glossed over being a small part of the mission campaign. I wouldn't mind seeing more level gimmicks such as that. Blades of the Fallen shows OOO can make levels that break from the "floating island platforms in the skybox" norm driven by every single other level in the game. Why can't we get more unique level design after all this time?
Rest in Pieces, Jelly Green Giant.
The main problem in this game is that there are too many spam threads for community moderators to read and have time to note decent suggestions. This DOES realate to the game, if you think about it.
Ermm it doesn't really relate to the game...
@ Whimsicality I miss badgers and golden trojans especially :( Those things were either cute or remind me of rage-quitting times, that even resulted in me almost breaking my computer.... Jelly giants were also a part I missed... And tortodrones I loved, because they kept on dropping those shields. Ah... Nostalgia....
For some reason, I'm obsessed with Aurora Isle levels, probably due to the music, and am sad that they removed the mission showcasing it near the beginning.
The worst issue with the game is lagging near freeze traps.
More seriously, probably that OOO isn't well-known as a game company, and thus many players skim over it, thus causing a lower influx of profits that OOO can use to expand. It only really spiked when it teamed up with TF2 for that hat, and even that brief rush of players lasted for only so long, and ended in a bunch of unused accounts clogging up names.
The problem there would be that there aren't enough forum mods, and that the rules for moderating are pretty subjective.
I guess that's also true for when the battle sprites were released. And I only joined TF2 in March 2012. When I was just coming back from my 6-month quittening back in April 2011.
WAIT WHAT I ACTUALLY AGREED WITH YOU HERE!?!
*World explodes*
I wonder how many would disagree with this logic.
The main problem with this game is that developers listen to the community. (OMG WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!?!?!!11oneone)
Listen.
People wanted a new fancy guild hall update-OOO wanted to make people happy so they gave them that.
People wanted a pet system or pets-OOO wanted to make people happy so they gave them that.
People wanted no cost for elevators and crafting-OOO wanted to make people happy so they gave them that.
People wanted new weapons and new boss/content-OOO wanted to make people happy so they gave them that(Apocrea,Grinchlin Assaulta and the soon to be Gunner update)
Considering that it takes around 6 months to make such things with a small dev team...
THIS IS WHAT IS WRONG. Instead of wanting to expand the game they constantly wanted to make,us,happy by giving us the things we wanted.
Why is this wrong? To found their project for such things they had to re skin/re color armor, weapons even costumes thus making quite a few bad chooses and making the same community unhappy by doing that. That is why they gave out ultra rare accessories for some energy and that is why we have [edited] mini updates. So they could make dead ends and make money while giving us updates.
Now,If they haven't done that we would get updates that are more game related(as far as the over all spiral knight's plot) instead of pets and guild halls that have nothing to do with game's progress.
Think about it,let it all sink in.
[Message from the Game Master: If a word is filtered in game, it should be filtered in the forums.]
Daft you are COMPLETELY right. We say OOO doesn't listen too us, but really that's ALL they do. We never think about what we have. Just what we don't have.
I can see where you are coming you last two people. When I make games, I look at things and say, "Do I want more content at this stage, or just extras?" I havent really put out any games, so I am not entirely subjected to this. But from my small group of friends who test for me... I am always asked to add this, and that.
So I agree with you an that Ardent-Light and Dafunktothepunk
The one thing I don't like about spiral knights are all these people that keep complaining about it and scaring away other newer players.
It's not an obligation to play this game thus there's thousands of games out there for people to try.
If you don't like it just download a better game. simple as that.
You see we humans have a VERY complex mind.Once we think something is bad(even if it's good)
we're going to keep thinking it's bad because all we're doing is feeding it negative thoughts
,start realizing the great things this game has to offer and you'll see what I'm talking about We focus too much on what we don't have and don't realize the great things OOO has given to us.
Just shutup and play the game but I don't blame us,we're humans after all and that's why we're destroying our planet little by little.
Few radiants? Elevators are free now, start farming more to get crowns and buy off supply depot or start doing more sl's.
lack of end-game content?start playing a different game.
That person just summarized every problem I have with the forums into one post. You deserve my love.
WAIT WHAT I ACTUALLY AGREED WITH YOU HERE!?!
Am I like drunk or something?
The one thing I don't like about spiral knights are all these people that keep complaining about it and scaring away other newer players.
If you can find me one game, ONE game without people like that, I will give you a bucket of any kind of cookies. I'm keeping the bucket though.
I think it boils down to the fact that people can play through something a lot faster than people can make something. For example, I once was only able to play this game for a few minutes a day, and spent the rest of the day thinking about what I was going to make next. "Oooh and then I'll have 13716 crowns, so I can upgrade to Dusker completely...And I can do 2 Jelly runs a day, so it'll take me 4 days to get an Antigua." The novelty began wearing off after I was able to play as long as I wanted; oddly enough, the mist energy system was better in that aspect.
No Dafunk, the problem is not that they listen to the community. The problem is that they listen to the wrong parts of the community.
Honestly, my biggest problem is people. Not in a negative way, because I've made quite a few friends here as well as the game needs people to be the game. Other players can bring me joy, but at the same time, my introverted self can have a hard time doing anything people-oriented. I rarely will start conversations, and I will, for the most part, speak through emotes in the clockworks if I don't know any party member. It's more of a personal weakness (or strength when in other situations) but still something that can hold me back from doing or saying things I want to say.
Also nice people aren't loud and rude people have the largest mouths. That's not just in Spiral Knights, but it bothers me none-the-less.
The game lags if your PC is terrible - FYI.
This has been a Public Seerus Announcement sponsored by Lanny.
@Klipik-Forum Quite the interesting forum link you have provided. And what's more interesting is over all subject that lead to the last comment on it. Arcade change. That comment was posted more than 9 months ago and the over all plan for arcade change was around like 4 months ago? Just showing that OOO does listen. The problem with them listening to the majority of the community instead of the 'veterans' of it. That is a whole different subject.
I vote for a change of admin. [No personal attacks please.] One post in the general forums per a week(and this is just to warn people or tell them to 'keep up the good work' ) . This whole community is clearly lacking some interactions with admins or namely the community manager. (not really a problem with the game but players play the game. some one needs to calm them down and answer some questions about the game progress or the game it self on the forum)
It boils down to this simple sentence (only apply to end-game player)
Give me something WORTH chewing on and I will chew on it...
Rose Regalia re-relaunch? you got me!
Reskin of pre-existing weapons that I own with CTR High on it with at least 20 hours of grind ahead to get one? Heck no!
8 new 5* gun! (get me interested... A LOT) 3 new valiance, 1 new autogun, 2 new pulsar, 1 new magnus o.O (YOU GOT ME GOOD!!!) No radiant to use said guns! Heck I'm going back to insert X games here and school!
This is what's going to happen sadly...
Actually, I take it back. I blame the community for driving away new players.
You people contribute to the worst parts of the internet and you should feel bad because it is YOUR fault for driving new players away with your storm of complaints! You're digging your own grave here. DO NOT continue.
The one ancient message that everyone forgets when on the wait for something:
"Patience is a virtue"
~Not me.
@Phantomhamachi
Not sure if hypocrite, or truth.
But either way I'm glad to see that someone else sees another major forum problem.
/shout GOOD VOG STOP MAKING ME AGREE WITH TROLLS!
@"Complainers Scaring People Away"
Woah woah woah, slow down there bud... So let me get this straight-
I see something wrong with the game, so I write a few threads on the forums- which may I remind you that only a small small minority of players will see, and of those a fraction that agree with me will read my views.
And all of the sudden, these few threads are the largest cause of newer players leaving?
So lets do a thought experiment.
In our hypothetical scenario, OOO releases the gunner update, and here's what happens:
-There are 3 new guns that mirror valiance, but are special in damage... which means that they outdamage even alchemer's ricocheting, because OOO just swapped out their damage types without editing their damage outputs.
-Hearing about the bug with ricochet, OOO nerfs alchemers to have invincitinks, like shard bombs.
-Other guns are released, but these are all outclassed by the new valiance variants.
Now lets say I'm a gunner.
All of the sudden, I'm incredibly strong... but the game is boring. Why? Because the only guns I'm using are the new valiance variants... my alchemers are now bleh, and my other guns are almost redundant. So I want these nerfed a bit and alchemers brought up to par. Should I honestly just uninstall the game, or should I make myself heard?
Clearly, I should just leave, because I don't want to scare away new players.
Now lets look at who replaces me as a gunner. Having looked through each forum section to make certain that the game is good enough for her, she gets to the end of the game, and her arsenal consists of 4 "different" weapons- 3 resembling valiance, and the obligatory blitz needle.
Then, she makes an umbra driver, to fight slimes with... but its quite a bit worse than her other weapons. So she makes an argent peacemaker. And that's fun for a day or two.. but it isn't so great, so she doesn't finish heating it, because that's nearly impossible to do. At this point, she realizes that there aren't many things to do with her guns... and feels like the game isn't worth continuing.
What about this scenario isn't reasonable?
And failing that- can you show me any kind of proof that what you're saying is true? Why are you still here?
Actually I think he meant people that complain about damage (insert sinful word here), lack of new content, the devs not listening to them, etc.
Not actually that missions exist, more that they are repeatable.
That is exactly what I thought the 4ish people that said that thought.
I'm obsessed with Aurora Isle levels
___
I am too, but because they're fun levels to play. We do need more levels like those.
2 things about that that aren't reasonable.
1: Satire is detrimental towards actually getting things fixed (and therefore the clear reason is NOT to leave the game as you suggest - the clear thing is to not post satire). Ever hear of constructive criticism? Use it. Claiming nonsense such as "finding 3 completely new weapons" a day after developers release weapons that could be considered reskins - but have different properties tied to them does NOT make the developers happy. There are better methods to go about showing things that you don't like.
2: There is a difference between trying to scare away new players by saying things like "lulz the game is brokenz and the dev team does nothing about it" and "Acheron spamming makes the game boring for me because the damage is OP and makes other weapons pretty much useless."
The first one I see a toxic community member. The second one, I see someone that cares about having fun in the game and is trying to improve it.
Sure, the poster has more fun posting satire and things similar. It does, however, make negative effort towards resolving the current difference of viewpoints. Seeing an extremely toxic community does stop new players from playing games. I know a whole ton of people (myself included) that wont touch F2P games such as dota2 because of the horrors their community.
Did you know that a swiftstrike buckler has the same HP as a barbarous thorn shield and crest of almire at depth 15? If you are below depth 18 almost all shields are worthless compared to the two that give significant bonuses. Am I going to post a satire thread about it? No.
------------------
That being said. I think shields are what is the most wrong with the game. They don't provide adequate resistances against attacks (they are approximately half of armor's reduction towards resisted, which pretty much already tapers off). Additionally, the scaling method for them is "all shields have the same hp unless you are using them in the stratum+1 of their star count [exception: Omega shell line].
If you want stat bonuses, there are 3 shields for that (hp, ASI, SDI).
If you want blocking power, there is 1 shield for that (Omega).
People just don't realize how little variety there actually is in shields. They are a forgotten aspect of the game.
"Seeing an extremely toxic community does stop new players from playing games. I know a whole ton of people (myself included) that wont touch F2P games such as dota2 because of the horrors their community."
This doesn't include TF2 and SK right?
Skepti, that problem is universal, and cannot be easily remedied by a single game company. That is, the community aspect. It's not just F2P games, ALL games have their share of rotten apples, and all you can do is i̶n̶c̶i̶n̶e̶r̶a̶t̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶h̶e̶a̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶ ̶s̶c̶r̶e̶a̶m focus on the ones ripe for the picking.
And satire is fun. It's an especially effective method of conveying your points. Which sounds more convincing? Luguiru or some random forumer derp?
Guy 1: I feel that the Acheron needs to be balanced because of its current damage rates, which dwarf all others, even the CIV against its favorable enemy, Undead, despite being a Shadow-type weapon. In essence, the normal combo did not need a buff, as the status variants cannot inflict their status on normal strokes, thus making an Acheron combo that much more unbalanced. Supplementarily, I feel that the Acheron should also be converted into pure Shadow damage as opposed to a split Normal and Shadow; this would make it much less viable against Fiends and Undead, which of the latter currently outdamages a Cold Iron Vanquisher. The charge attack of the Acheron also neutralizes the supposed reach advantage of the Gran Faust; a sufficiently proficient user could, theoretically, outdamage the Gran Faust even against crowds despite the Sealed Sword Line's alleged advantage on masses of enemies. I propose that in order to fix the current issues with this sword, the Acheron should have its combo damage reduced to that of an ordinary Brandish, and lower the charge damage to higher than the current elemental variants but not as high as it stands incumbent.
Guy 2: Oh look, the Acheron is now a faster GF. That's TOTALLY going to help weapon balance now that it can beat the CIV on Undead.
I can bet you the dev's arent too happy about guy#2 and will thus put off making them happy until it is convenient for them.
Satire is always fun for the people generating the satire. The same cannot be said for the medium of which the satire is directed toward.
But that's not what you said. Obviously, satire is the only correct method of conveying ideas. Anything else would be sub par. In fact - even the attempt to calmly communicate ideas is a horrible idea and should be added as a violation of the ToS. That way we can clean out the bad players whom do not fit this community.
I'm saying that satire is a very effective and not nearly as boring way to convey an idea. Did you honestly read through all of Guy 1's speech? He's like a politician.
It's kind of ironic how you satirically attack satire.
Calmly communicate ideas? Satire is plenty calm. If used right, that is. Luguiru used it right, and now he's disappeared and the forums are that much more boring.
You missed the point of my post #44. I said the same thing 2 times, as another example of your "which sounds more convincing?"
With that response, it seems like you picked the same side as me, except suggesting that there is some middle ground (of which I disagree that the average forumer can walk on said thin line).
/e Holds gun to "Xteeterx's " head Who are you! What did you do to Tweeter!
But Twitter, we linked you to his posts like 5 times, and you still...
I don't like averages. They're like compromises; they leave everyone feeling angry.
Now, Skepti, to be very frank, if I were a staff person, and I read #2, I would have laughed, and suggested the change, taking all the credit for it. Also, there is a very large difference between a Developer and a Game Master. I AM supporting satire over the Invasion of Boring Political Speeches, and am citing that it has its merits, among which are amusement and effectiveness.
I see two big problems:
1. Lag.
2. Insufficient people doing mid-rank missions. It's lonely :(
I think the main problem is that instead of getting a full sandwich we get the bread first, then later on we get the butter for the bread, then even later we start getting the lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and the meat instead of just getting a full sandwich on our plate.
