I'm new to this site, but been playing Spiral Knights since 2011 when it first came on steam.

One time when I went down to the core I noticed one of the NPC's had dual wield Flourish swords.

So I thought of a suggestion to the game where you can Dual wield some swords and pistols. Not the heaviest swords of course. In exchange for the shield.

This does not work in Lockdown due to balance. But normal runs or something like that.

Any thoughts?

Yes, I see now. But as far as I could see no one suggested it in exchanging the shield for another weapon.

Well I am sorry for posting

Well I am sorry for posting another one of those. But I would like to get opinions of it. Not just people saying "Ah.. not another Dual wield thread"

All I want to know is if my idea of exchanging it for a shield would be a good idea. I've asked a lot of my friends in spiral knights, and they thought it was a great idea.

You don't have to say that it will get exchanged it for a shield to know it will get exchanged for a shield

Really, your dual wielding suggestion is just like every one out there

May so be, But so far I haven't seen a single opinion on any of them.

just "Oh! Not another Dual wield suggestion!"

So what you said isn't really to any help when saying a lot of people have suggested it. I already know that. But still.. I haven't seen a single opinion.

So please, Any opinions? Good, bad, why is it good?, why is it bad?

Oh dear...

This suggestion is back again.

In all honesty, dual wielding would break the game a little bit too much, especially the way you suggested it (i.e., making a standard weapon replace the shield). If anything, we could have a new shield line that were parrying blades that had about as much defense as a swiftstrike buckler, but would counter-attack upon being hit and break (recharging as a shield would), having the player take minimal damage in the process. Certain blades could resist certain statuses, or perhaps could inflict certain statuses.

Shields are just too key of an item in this game to be ignored. Without a shield, you cannot shield cancel, block projectiles (I'm looking at you, rocket puppy missiles), and completely avoid taking damage from both hits and statuses. Try running a level as you do right now but without a shield and realize dual wielding would pretty much be almost exactly like that.

All in all, dual wielding can only work if it is a shield modification, not a weapon modification. Maybe one day we'll have some sort of PvP game where we are forced to dual wield, which will make both acheron and the furious fork rather interesting weapons in terms of visuals.

Alright,

I thank you for leaving an opinion.

And I guess you're right about all that.
