Population avg.: 600. This is the lowest amount of players from Steam SK has ever seen.. and dropping. SK is not dead! We know it's not! But it's dying. Slowly. Faster and faster.

Click here to view Spiral Knights' chart. In the "Zoom" tab click on "All". The green line is the avg. amount of players that play SK. Yep... frightening. No gunner update? Then we'll enter a drought.

Good Gawd

SK IS DYING!! SKK IS DYING!! OMG! DIED AGAIN! HOW MANY TIMES WILL IT DIE ALREADY!! XD

But seriously now, its about 200 players on average less than the lowest compared to other years, and in the whole 2014 we just seem to have lost just about 300 players average, it is not THAT bad IMO. I kind of agree though that if OOO doesn't make a move in the next 2 months or so things are looking pretty dark for this game, i'd say. Doesn't have to be the gunner update necessarily, anything... just a little sign of life would at least give the players a bit of a reason not to think that OOO has thrown in the towel on this game.

At this point it is undeniable the fact that a good number of players are getting worried with this whole silence from the devs, no matter how big ppl say that this update is going to be.

three years

I've been seeing threads like this just about every week for over three years.

This week there is just an unusually large number of such threads.

People just really enjoy being apart of the bandwagon.
"As we have lived, so will we die, together"

Err...

if OOO doesn't make a move in the next 2 months or so things are looking pretty dark for this game
And in the next 3 months we have two holiday events for sure, along with other potentially new content or events. Three Rings usually doesn't do the same old event every time, as seen by every time a reoccurring event comes back. Black kats? Add a shadow costume promo. Back again? New armors. Tortodrones are back? Add a griever spawn and some new guns. Apocrea's back? Eh, add a new neat and expensive aura.
Last year we got apocrea for halloween, and grinchlin assault for the winter holidays. I wouldn't be surprised if we had some events reoccur with new things in them again this year.

As for the "omg low player count"... It's around midterms I think for people in the schools. I'm really not sure about that, but if I say it someone is bound to come in and correct me. That plus we haven't had a substantial update for a while so players are finding other things to do until they are drawn back, which is natural and healthy for an MMO. Keep in mind that is only the Steam userbase. Plenty of other sites house this game and have a steady playerbase. Steam is only a sample.

I hate tests, it is kinda like asking a monkey, a gold fish, a giraffe and a snake to climb a tree, it seems fair on the paper, who climb to the top of the tree first wins, but we already know who is going to do best in a test like this.

Wait for the end of year

Wait for the end of year Steam card event.
If SK fails to be included, then death is official.

The situation isn't alarming

The situation isn't alarming as many makes it to be, but the playerbase has been reduced by a lot and you don't even need statistics and graphs to see it.
All those who played during 2011-2013 can see for themselves just by checking the items for sale in auction house, there are way fewer pages of items than there were before, the party finder barely ever gets a scrollbar anymore and most guilds only have around 3-10 active members on on average save for the very big ones.

The bottom line is that OOO needs to bring forth some permanent content to lure people back instead of ONLY trying to cash out on the folks left with all the promos aswell as putting out more end game content and make lockdown more appealing since it's the only thing that pushes players to upgrade their gear thus pumping more money in the game.

So why is it called a highway if its built on the ground?

I wonder how many times we have talked about this subject. Too many times, honestly its ridiculous. People should be watching the Walking Dead marathon, instead of making SK is dead/not dead threads.

But, I guess its a matter that has been bothering people lately so it needs to be brought up everyday. Yes, it looks like SK is slowly dying but I don't think it will be dead anytime soon. As long as their are people that are willing to play (and apparently Three Rings is making enough money to keep everything running) the game will live on. Curious what SK's future will be like, hopefully their is some kind of permanent content update soon.
