Homecoming (Guild Stuff) Idea Set - Part I: Social Changes

WARNING: HUGE BLOCKS OF TEXT AHEAD. Skip down to my comment for a TL;DR summary of this part. This idea is in a few parts:
HOMECOMING PART I: Social Changes
HOMECOMING PART II: Shuttle
HOMECOMING PART III: Ready Room Renovation
HOMECOMING PART IV: Guild Lab
HOMECOMING PART V: Guild Stash
So, I have a bunch of ideas for Guild Halls lately, and I remember an event a while back that was called the "Homecoming Celebration" and it celebrated the major Guild Hall change. See release notes 2012-11-14 for details. We've not had one of these in a while and I'd like to see it again - and I'd like for it to always be Guild or at least social related, so players can expect playerbase-focused updates around the time of a Homecoming Celebration.
It's sorta close to that time of year, so I feel like posting these now. Ignoring the fact that this sort of thing can take ages to code. Hey, at least I'm posting earlier than the time it used to happen! >,..,> Anyway....
I'll be submitting these ideas in Parts over the next several days/weeks as I have time. Some of them will not be liked, I'm pretty sure. Many of them incorporate suggestions made by others before, some of them many times, with my own twist on the idea(s).
Obviously I don't want ALL of them in one Homecoming event, that would be too overwhelming. Just something, you know?
Focus of this part is on:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Social Changes.
Obligatory yet unnecessary commemorative prize box will be mentioned at the bottom. I simply have to. Yes.
Most of these have been suggested in some way before.
------I------
Players can choose (in their character panel next to private options) whether or not they wish to receive guild membership invites. No more annoying mail!
A message will show up for the sender:
"Guild invite sent to PLAYER NAME. Pending response...Accepted or Rejected."
"Guild invite could not be sent to PLAYER NAME because PLAYER NAME does not currently desire Guild Invites."
------II------
Players can choose (in their chracter panel next to private options) whether or not they wish to receive party invites from:
Randoms, Friends, Guildies (check yes/no for each one).
A message will show up for the sender:
"Party invite sent to PLAYER NAME. Pending response...Accepted or Rejected."
"Party invite could not be sent to PLAYER NAME because PLAYER NAME does not currently desire Party Invites."
------III------
Players can choose (in their character panel next to private options) whether or not they wish to receive trade requests.
Randoms, Friends, Guildies (check yes/no for each one)
A message will show up for the sender:
"Trade Request sent to PLAYER NAME. Pending response...Accepted or Rejected."
"Trade request could not be sent to PLAYER NAME because PLAYER NAME does not currently desire a trade."
------IV------
Players can choose (in their character panel next to private options) whether or not they wish to receive friend requests.
A message will show up for the sender:
"Friend request sent to PLAYER NAME. Pending response...Accepted or Rejected."
"Friend request could not be sent to PLAYER NAME because PLAYER NAME does not currently desire any friend requests."
------V------
Invisible log-in option. Some days, you love playing with your friends and guild, other days, you just want to be alone. Not everyone wants to maintain an alt. Players can log-in invisibly (perma) 2x a day. They will not show up on friend or guild lists as online. Steam will have to be managed by individuals separately. Players will be completely invisible in haven and not be able to join random squads. They can interact with the auction house and craft. They can invite privately. They cannot speak in any form of chat except whispering (PMing) or shouting. None of these terminate invisibility mode, except shouting. Invisibility terminates if you shout in haven, (or anywhere), or log out and back in. The "PLAYER NAME has logged on" message will appear to everyone relevant. Invisibility mode is limited to encourage being social in general, but available for those times when you "just want to be alone or reclusive."
This mode is called Chromalisk mode to be cute, since you can talk to players and receive pms IF you have spoken to them - you're not totally cut off. You always have the option to log in invisibly mostly permanently, but after 2x, the invisibility only lasts 10 minutes. A message will appear for you:
"Chromalisk mode inactivated." in orange text. Invisibility mode can only be started from the log-in screen.
Ideal for: "just feeding my battle sprite" or "just wanting to be alone" or "just checking an auction."
Fangel has suggested other private options in comment #2.
------VI------
Choose to show your name/prestige badge/otherstuff above your head or not: This will be moved to the same menu as the others mentioned above.
I don't even want you to know my name! RAWR! Other players can still select your body to ignore you, and they'll get your name that way. But if you're doing something to get ignored, you're probably not behaving like a ninja now are you?
------VII------
The only way to leave a guild is by opening up the Options menu and selecting the guild tab. In the middle of this screen is a big red button that says "LEAVE GUILD." pressing it will bring up an "ARE YOU SURE?" message. I've had guildies - several times - say that they almost left the guild because of its proximity to that stupid menu. What a hassle.
------VIII------
Guild PvP "representation." More on this in Part V of my Homecoming Idea Set.
------General Note------
Alternatively, the privacy options could show up in the same option menus as controls/audio/video etc. instead of in your character panel. Depends on how gross it looks, how easy it is to use, etc.
-----Boxes------
I've put together a potential prize box commemorating invisibility mode:
Personal Character aspects: animations that play when you leave an area or enter it (loading or logging)
Players can choose to mute and/or totally ignore these effects, as they can obviously be used to make a ruckus in haven and some ppl don't like that.
Then again, you could just hide in your guild hall ;P
Default (as it is now, silent except for when the character takes out their weapons with that swapping noise)
Colossal: leaves a crater, like Neo launching in that one matrix scene, or a superhero punching the ground.
Explosive: yeah do I need to describe this? fake your death haha.
Smoke: a bunch of ninja smoke bombs.
Mystic: wizardly magical fog and star sparkles.
Royal: trumpets announce your presence and leaving. Fiendish really. And possibly super bloody annoying.
You can mix and match these, like come in explosive but leave smokey.
Some of you might remember my other ideas that are similar -Downed! and Return! animations as usables. and More Body Mods: Walking, Idle, and Idle Random <3.
Costumes/Acc:
Clear Camo. Yes that's right. You'll have a clear shape like a chromalisk of whatever costume it is.
Accessories attached will appear to float on you, unless they're invisible too.
Standard recolors. Want wings that seem like heated air? Well here ya go.
I'd just walk around with glow eyes. Because why not. Or with a body and a camo head to freak people out. Or just a floating head. Lots of fun.
Ghostmane Stalker cap and body (hey, we have gremlin suits, so we know we can has this too). Comes with a scarf!
New craftable weapon (not in the box): that sawblade that the ghostmane stalkers use. OCH at Vise? Or recipe bought from Vise and used at a normal machine? Thoughts? (This has been suggested somewhere before a few times).
Confetti: smoke bomb effects.
Furniture: Docile wandering chromalisk. He'll get uncloaked if you walk close enough to him! Don't worry, he's shy but friendly. Comes in T1/2/3 versions, as well as status varieties. Kleptolisk too! So that's abouuuuut... 16 different kinds?
Ghostmane Stalker statue. Oooooh scary, it's about to throw that sawblade! The statue is cloaked until someone walks close enough to it. They'll get a "!" above their heads and then the stalker will appear. But it won't move.
Extra rare: Grinchlin Stalker statue. A sign of things to come? I'd love to see this in more than one box, could easily be in a decoration kit.
------To readers------
Please avoid saying things like "OOO will never do this" etc. I want user opinions about the game/feedback for this. +/- 1 based on how you think it will be for the players. Please post ideas about cost/time parameters and so on!
EDIT: broke thread up further. Context of comments in thread might be confusing. Added links to top.

Enabling/Disabling invites and things would be a good addition. We don't need to have a message for when a message/mail goes through though, only when that option is disabled. Something like "Sorry! Fangel is not accepting party invites at this time!"
Invisibility mode seems a bit off. I know the intentions are good, but the way you have laid it out seem odd. Limiting "Chromalisk mode" isn't the answer to people who want to be invisible but are playing an MMO.
I would recommend invisibility mode to disable all invites (like you said earlier) while also disabling logging on and logging off messages to other clients (server still logs it). It can also disable all chat messages, and when you log in in invisibility mode give you a single chat message that says "You have logged on in invisibility mode. Type /acceptmessages to receive personal messages and view chat." This could introduce /acceptmessages (shorthand: /am) and /declinemessages (shorthand: /dm) commands. It would essentially put all players on your ignore list until you accept messages again. Invisibility mode would put /declinemessages on by default, as well as disable full inspect and remove access to viewing battle sprites and achievements.
And I don't think making players invisible is the answer either, especially when it can be easily canceled. Instead, while in invisibility mode, players are given the name "Spiral Knight" and are forced to wear a costume that resembles an apocrean/magic hood and robes. Player personal colors are washed out, and player names are set to be white in color. Players can only log into invisibility mode, but can exit invisibility mode whenever they please through a chat command (eg. /goonline, /online. No shorthand here as we don't want an accident), however this wouldn't announce the player has come online to friends or guildmates.
This is what you can make a prize box out of. An "Outlander hood" and an "Outlander robe" would be great costume items. This would also be a great time to introduce costume shields, and throw some into these prize boxes.
Additional guild furniture is good. Lab room is okay. Making a statue of your knight, would you make it in various positions? Such as, gun charge, bomb change, sword charge, idle, arms raised, item used (one arm in the air)...? Phantom battle sprites don't really need to be a thing though... However having some Class-E sprites that act like wandering snipes wouldn't hurt.
Shuttle requiring mist and stuff is okay, especially with the energy well investment. Perhaps add the old tier crown cost to it as well, and have it accelerate per depth? Also, make travel to subtowns free (as it is currently), but all other places cost something. Perhaps even have it so that, non-upgraded, it costs 10 energy per tier (20 for tier 2, 30 for tier 3) so that a guild will want to invest in it to get that D28 arena instead of just using it for speed access. Is 30 energy worth ~2500 crowns and radiants? Maybe... But you can get a better deal if you help level up the shuttle. Also, have a personal shuttle in the Haven lab. We can only ever access the lab on our own anyways, other than those early missions to access the lab, which can simply have the shuttle removed (or not added/in service yet). This shuttle only has 50 energy, so use it wisely.

I was thinking that the lab in the hall would be quite different, like the Private Training Hall - more than one person can be in it at once. A private shuttle in the guild hall wouldn't make much sense (to me), since the GH is a group thing. But! I think having one that you maintain (not as good as the guild one, of course) that you can see in your ready room would be excellent. I'd love to build and manage my own little shuttle.
That's actually going to be in Part II - A better load in area. The "Ready Room" will be much improved, and might give guildless players a reason to want furniture.
As far as poses? Was thinking just a standard still of just holding the weapon, like if you were to take a screenshot of yourself in the party lobby, it would look pretty much like that. You could probably have like, a sort of scroll bar in the UI, for "ready" (Lobby), "Attacking" (in some sort of step stage for swords, having the gun reloading for handguns), and "Charging" for the obvious charge pose. A lot of "attacking" options will look similar to "Charging," especially bombs. Could have a "Bashing" or "Shielding" option too. If your knight is not holding anything while using the Scanner UI, then it will just be a straight stand up pose. The UI will show options for "Sitting", "Waving," "Dozing," and so on, even for the weapon poses too. Statues can be rotated as furniture when placing them in halls. When a statue is created, perhaps we could have some options:
You have the option to use your own crafting components. If this is the case, the statue you make will go into your inventory.
You have the option to use the guild's crafting components out of the treasury. If this is the case, the statue you make will go straight into the Guild's furniture collection.
You cannot mix and match components from treasury/your inventory like you can at the Guild Alchemy Machine. For these, it's either entirely from you, or entirely from the treasury.
Honestly I'd much rather statues of individuals be made with only components from your inventory (come on, you're making a statue of YOU, why would you use guild resources?), but IDK how that would work coding-wise considering the current furniture crafting system that's in place. I like to assume anything is possible ;P
I envision this scenario:
"WTS sexy statue of myself!" - And people would probably buy this sort of thing. You know they would.
Again, emphasis on access control. You don't want people going nuts building furniture of themselves with mats from the treasury. Restrictions of the current Hunter Lodge Armero Alchemy Machine seem to work, so use those. *mumbles on about what I'd rather have for this.*
Thanks for reading!

This is an unfortunate amount of text for so little formatting.
Perhaps you could break it up into multiple threads? Many of your ideas are completely different from one another, especially in terms of implementation.

That is pretty much the equivalent to the chinese wall, but in text wall terms, I don't get how can you really do things like these, along with the wiki, you really do a lot of work considering that no one is paying you for that, Altruism too much?
Anyway, I'll at least give an opinion on this when I finish reading it, I'm really lazy and cannot take it all in one go. (Inb4 thats what she said)

Yes, I will break it into smaller segments. The overall theme is "large social update for Homecoming." Homecoming is something I'd like to see again. I was hoping to build up to an idea I'm sure most people won't like in general, but oh well. I'd love for just one part to be put in during a given celebration - obviously all of these idea-parts in one event is silly, so don't get that idea.
I'm used to writing papers for various things in my life (lab reports, debates, logs, general progress reports) so this didn't seem long to me - but yes, I'll try to make them shorter. I'll compare them to the rest of the forum posts...which seem too short for me but you know, I would like people to read the ideas sooo...When in Rome...I guess that's why twitter (which I don't use) has that character limit? Writing efficiently is a talent too.
But I'm not totally oblivious, at least I did a TL;DR section :O
As far as altruism goes, I do what I enjoy in my spare time, and I like writing. And I ramble. Like right now.

i like these ideas OwO, they should implement this. ^-^

I like most of these ideas, Cept for the shuttle, I do not think that OOO would like people bypassing every level and easily stocking up on rarities, even if it takes some energy to be used, we all know that everyone will skip everything and jump into arenas and terminals, IMO it should require more energy to be used, at least 80 energy or more, because being able to skip the worthless levels in the arcade is pretty OP, people will max out their inventories in no time and radiants are almost the only thing that makes vanguards keep getting into the arcade.
I sincerely doubt that the shuttle is a viable mechanic to be added in this game in it's current state without a major rework to the arcade, But other than that everything else in this thread is nice and it helps giving guilds a REAL functionality, wich is something that they are in desperate need for, game's more than just asthetics yknow... write this down OOO.

I'll put up a thread with more shuttle details, as well as Part II "Ready Room Renovation" soon.
As far as shuttle goes, it will be pretty expensive to upgrade, but yeah, once at 5* it's at 5* for good. But I don't think level skipping is too OP. I mean with plenty of friends you can jump to a lot of arenas in no time, and people do that alt trick on top of that. As well as D27 of FSC too. Well mostly anywhere.
A lot of players will bust it going to 28, when the best thing to do is 26 or 27 and continue on. But that's a pretty minor factor.
Honestly, it might also bring more players back consistently - gotta use up that shuttle energy that I worked so hard for! Every...day. Yes.
And more players is more monies? Ye?
I know I log on/play more when I have a sprite to feed. This would be another magnet like that.
Thanks for reading EVERYTHING.
The next parts won't be so...random feeling. It's all sort of one big idea in my head that could be implemented over years in parts, so yeah. Sowwie.
On the thought that this could be good but why party invites?

I have chopped up the thread and put it into different parts. These are linked to at the top, and more parts are coming soon. There are children wanting candy at my door, so this is a great time to do this between treaters. None of them are trickers. So no trick-or-treaters, just treaters.

Some of your changes are very simple, others are very complicated and probably shouldn't be implemented.
Specifically, things like "deject friend requests" would very likely be an hour of implementation, while things like "chromalisk mode" would be like two and a half weeks of trying to get everything right, for a feature that hardly warrants that sort of thought. Similarly, innocent requests like "check the mail and filter it by..." might not be nearly as simple as you would think. Then again, they might be- it all depends on implementation.
A promotion to celebrate small and insignificant social changes would be a bit much, I would think. That said I mean sure, SEGA can put whatever in the prize boxes and I've long wanted for those grinchlin stalker saw blades.
Also more elaborate detail on this subject on Part 3 but I've always wanted this to happen.
Whether your a couple that is BF&GF BF&BF GF&GF its worth a try.

At that point, you'd just want to make a guild hall wouldn't ya? I suppose there's more specificity...but man, character marriage (or dating) is always a fussy thing, because marriage (or dating) IRL doesn't work out a lot of the time either!
Regarding general feedback:
a lag-free ready room could still be an option, simply toggle that in your preferences when you log in.
-additional alternative: meditative space. Your knight is in a vast, white (or black!) area, meditating. This replaces your knight fiddling with the panel like it does when you log in. Still lag-free, with the same UI pop panels and news etc. Just another feel.
Catfish AM-I-RIGHT hahahhaha..... no one laughs
Catfish AM-I-RIGHT hahahhaha..... no one laughs

What can be done (for now)
- Mute UI volume
- Make use of the chat command "/clear"
- mark all mail as read

Oh yes, or mark mail unread, and get stuff over and over! Mwahahah!
But yeah in seriousness, your 3 things there should be implemented too.
Add: send mail to all guildies for a flat fee based on the guild hall's upgrade installed, so you don't have to do stupid maths in your head every time (well, every time if your guild is one that has population flux - other guilds could just know the number). ANYWAY some sort of mail-all-guildies option.
Add: officer-only Message of the Day. Only officers and Guild Masters see this MotD. Everyone in the Guild sees the regular MotD.
TL;DR:
No more annoying mail from Guild Invites or Friend Requests. No more annoying noises from Trade Requests or Party Invites. Unless you want them.
Invisibility mode for short log-ins to "just feed your sprite" or lone wolves.
Commemorative prize box to go with Invisibility Mode with ninja stuff and stupid stuff.
Yes, these are long, huge ideas. I've been working on them for about 10-20 minutes for the past month or so, because yes, I do have a life (barely). Happy Halloween!
For more ideas by my friends and me, check out my idea list thread.
EDIT: Broke thread up into different threads, so check the top of the original post for threads that seem related to comments that seem out-of-context.
